Index Pages become No-Index

Hi Mozzers,
Here is the scenario:
I created a landing page targeting Holiday keywords for the holiday season. The page has been crawled and indexed - I see my landing page in the SERP. However, because of the CMS layout, since the Holiday is over and I don't want it to be displayed on the homepage, i have to remove the page from hp which makes it no-index (don't ask why, it's how the CMS was built).
Question: How does this affect this LP's search? Since it's already crawled and etc. will it still be on the SERP after i change the page to no-index? If I remove the no-index next year for the holiday season, how does this all play out?
Any insights or information provided will be appreciated.

I don't think no-indexing and re-indexing a page will have a negative effect on its ability to rank. As long as all the same ranking signals are in place (links, mentions, on-page optimization, etc.), once it is added back to the index, it should have the same strength as it did the previous year.
As you mentioned, the algorithm will most certainly change over the course of a year and you might have new competitors surface during that time, so I wouldn't expect it to rank in the same position. But your plan for dropping it from the index and re-adding should be fine.

Understood. In other words, once i mark it as no-index and Google crawls the page, it will be removed from the SERP even though it was crawled and indexed previously.
I just want to confirm whether it will affect the page's ranking when i re-add the index to the page next year. Lets say Page A is ranked 3 on the SERP but since Holiday is over, i have to put no-index on the page and once Google crawl the site again, it will remove Page A from SERP. Next year, when i re-add index tag to the page, with all the backlink and the site's authority, will it remain rank 3? I understand many things and algorithms can change within the year but I guess my question is whether i can keep Page A will still have the same authority unlike a new page.

I don't want it to be removed but because of the CMS set up, i have to add no-index to the page when I don't want it to be on the homepage. I understand it's confusing/weird but that's how the CMS was set up.

Hi Tommy,
Pages are added/removed from the index based on Google's most recent crawl of the page. So if you set the page to no-index now, it will remain in the SERPs until Google next crawls the page and sees that a no-index attribute has been added. This could take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks depending on how often Google crawls your site.
Next year, when you remove the no-index attribute, the same thing will happen in reverse. Google won't add the page back to the index until it crawls your site again and sees that the no-index tag is no longer on that page. In this case, you might be able to get it re-added to the index very quickly by sharing it on Google+ (ref. http://moz.com/blog/google-plus-correlations).

If you noindex the page it will eventually be removed, but not immediately.
Why just remove it manually from Google from GWT, and also block it in your robots.txt file?

Removing massive number of no index follow page that are not crawled
Hi, We have stackable filters on some of our pages (ie: ?filter1=a&filter2=b&etc.). Those stacked filters pages are "noindex, follow". They were created in order to facilitate the indexation of the item listed in them. After analysing the logs we know that the search engines do not crawl those stacked filter pages. Does blocking those pages (by loading their link in AJAX for example) would help our crawl rate or not? In order words does removing links that are already not crawled help the crawl rate of the rest of our pages? My assumption here is that SE see those links but discard them because those pages are too deep in our architecture and by removing them we would help SE focus on the rest of our page. We don't want to waste our efforts removing those links if there will be no impact. Thanks

Would it work to place H1 (or important page keywords) at the top of your page in HTML and move lower on page with CSS?
I understand that the H1 tag is no longer heavily correlated with stronger ranking signals but it is more important that Keywords or keyphrases are at the top of a page. My question is, if I just put my important keyword (or H1) toward the top of my page in the HTML and move it towards the middle/lower portion with css position elements, will this still be viewed by Googlebot as important keywords toward the top of my page? HELP! How do I get Google to value one page over another (older) page that is ranking?
So I have a tactical question and I need mozzers. I'll use widgets as an example: 1- My company used to sell widgets exclusively and we built thousands of useful, branded unique pages that sell widgets. We have thousands of pages that are ranking for widgets.com/brand-widgets-for-sale. (These pages have been live for almost 2 years) 2- We've shifted our focus to now renting widgets. We have about 100 pages focused on renting the same branded widgets. These pages have unique content and photos and can be found at widgets.com/brand-widgets-for-rent. (These pages have been live for about 2-3 months) The problem is that when someone searches just for the brand name, the "for sale" pages dramatically outrank the "for rent" pages. Instead, I want them to find the "for rent" page. I don't want to redirect traffic from the "for sale" pages because someone might still be interested in buying (although as a company, we are super focused on renting). Solutions? "nofollow" the "for sale" pages with the idea that Google will stop indexing "for sale" and start valuing "for rent" over it? Remove "for sale" from sitemap. Help!!

How do I get my Golf Tee Times pages to index?
I understand that Google does not want to index other search results pages, but we have a large amount of discount tee times that you can search for and they are displayed as helpful listing pages, not search results. Here is an example: http://www.activegolf.com/search-northern-california-tee-times?Date=8%2F21%2F2013&datePicker=8%2F21%2F2013&loc=San+Diego%2C+CA&coupon=&zipCode=&search= These pages are updated daily with the newest tee times. We don't exactly want every URL with every parameter indexed, but at least http://www.activegolf.com/search-northern-california-tee-times. It's weird because all of the tee times are viewable in the HTML and are not javascript. An example of similar pages would be Yelp, for example this page is indexed just fine - http://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=dogwalkers&find_loc=Lancaster%2C+MA I know ActiveGolf.com is not as powerful as Yelp but it's still strange that none of our tee times search pages are being indexed. Would appreciate any ideas out there!

Are pages with a canonical tag indexed?
Hello here, here are my questions for you related to the canonical tag: 1. If I put online a new webpage with a canonical tag pointing to a different page, will this new page be indexed by Google and will I be able to find it in the index? 2. Indexing issue?
Hey guys when I do a search of site:thetechblock.com query in Google I don't seem to see any recent posts (nothing for August). In Google webmaster I see that the site is being crawled (I think), but I'm not sure. I also see the the sitemaps are being indexed but again it just seems really odd that I'm not seeing these in Google results. SEO seems all good too with SEO Moz. Is there something I'm not getting?

Removing a Page From Google index
We accidentally generated some pages on our site that ended up getting indexed by google. We have corrected the issue on the site and we 404 all of those pages. Should we manually delete the extra pages from Google's index or should we just let Google figure out that they are 404'd? What the best practice here?
