In need of guidance on keyword targeting

Hello
I'm in need of some guidance as my head has gotten into a spin.
Here's the website - www.onsite-sm.co.uk
Here's the keywords - concrete repair, concrete repairs, concrete repair contractors
Here's the question - The homepage doesn't really rank for anything specific and the concrete repair page isn't really strong enough to rank for the above keywords. What should I do?Thanks for any help.

I agree with Jared's comments - the current keyword layout of the pages is an effective one. There's probably tweaks that can be made but overall I don't see major issues with having concrete repair as a subpage.
This homepage is ranking on page 1 for "concrete repair west yorkshire". That may or may not be the ideal keyword, but I would focus on link building - run your way through this entire list of opportunities and see how that affects performance.

To be honest Mr Fanucci, most of the keywords have been specifically chosen. I'm not necessarily saying they are the correct ones though. Concrete repairs brings up a mix between contractors and DIY concrete and cement options. This is why I feel it might be much better placed to optimise for concrete repair contractors/specialists.
The main reason competitors sites outrank this site is down to links. Not many of them really do social media, blogging, case studies, guest posts etc either..

Your advice is similar to what has already been implemented, thankfully. The natural approach is set in place.
Unfortunately the site still does have quite low metrics, even after working on it for a while. It really seems a struggle to get inbound links to such a site.

Jared has added some good points. Have you looked at your competitors? Understanding how and why their sites outrank your site? Have you prioritized your entire list of potential keywords and search queries?

It looks like these guys do a lot more than just concrete repair. For that reason alone, I wouldnt try and fully optimize the home page for just concrete related keywords.
Since the site itself has very low metrics to begin with, you basically have a clean slate. Id optimize all of the services landing pages for their respective keywords (i.e. concrete repair, concrete repairs, concrete repair contractors for the concrete page, though I would not triplicate any one keyword) making sure they had good titles, good amount of unique copy and so on.
Its a natural approach to the taxonomy which always works well for Google placement. It wont get your to rank with on-page alone (except maybe some of the more obscure services) so some inbound links will probably be needed.

If you re concerned about that then I would look at ranking the deeper page at something that is longer tail and lower competition. This should then allow your homepage to rank. Best thing is to test and measure the results.

I'm worried that both pages will be competing for the same phrases then. Reckon this will affect my chances of ranking?

You could start by optimising the homepage for those terms and track the rankings from there.
Focus on optimising the title tag to include those keywords, looking at the content of the homepage I would say that is fine for now.
From this see what movements in rankings you get. If you still get very little movement you will have to look into starting a campaign to attract some links to your site to further help movement. For this it may be worth contacting a professional to assist on how to go about this.

Keyword density or No. of Time keyword used
Now, I know that there is no set figure to be used here, whichever metric you are using and it will depend on the article and what is natural. However, lets suppose for a minute that we are taking a keyword in isolation, and I have a 2000 word article using the keyword 17 times and rank no. 3 in Google SERPS. The no. 1 slot uses the keyword 8 times but only has a 800 word article and only a B grade on the onpage ranker. Of course, there are off page factors as well, but just wondering what your thoughts are on whether you look at density or total keyword usage. It is easy to just write without think about keyword density or usage, but occasionally you end up using the keyword about 50 times, and it is then I have to actually think about it. Other articles I barely use the keyword because the article just writes itself and it works out fine, but these are generally shorter. With longer articles on my best converting pages, I can't help but think about it more and it ends up a little hit and miss.

Homepage ranking above category page, but no keywords in there! Why?
So...we have a 5 year diary product page at TOAD diaries. It's had a lot of on page treatment: keyword in title, alt text, decent copy, pictures of the product etc. Find it here - http://www.toaddiaries.co.uk/shop/5-year-diary So we rank 22nd for 5 year diary, but google sends the customer to the home page! There no mention of 5 year diaries on there. Seems ridiculous! I can't help but think we should rank better for this as it's a low difficulty term (according to keyword difficulty tool on MOZ). Any thoughts on why this might be? Oh, Google HAS indexed the 5 year diary page. Used a search operator to check that first (thanks to you guys on here:) ) Thanks.

Keywords per Page
Iv'e looked through the QA here and there are a lot of different conflicting opinions on what is a generally a good idea. For Example Florist Clearwater Clearwater Florist Florist in Clearwater Florist in Clearwater FL Clearwater FL Florist Clearwater Florida Florist Florist in Clearwater Florida Florist near Clearwater FL etc.... So for something like this example....should I have one page represent all of these keyword iterations or split them among different pages?

Site is not ranking for a particular keyword !!
One of my site is ranking for all the main keywords except one. This keyword is just a variant of those keywords which are all ranking in top 10 (page 1) in Google. Why is it happening? Does Google punishes site for one keyword. I know competition of keyword matters but other keywords with similar competition are ranking. And even the site is very well optimized for this keyword (titles and site copy without any stuffing) Any Solutions ?

On-page keyword usage
SEOMOZ gave me all zeros for keyword usage. Why? The site is www.grass2greens.com and the keywords are "Asheville Landscaping Edible." The site includes these words in the title page and throughout the body text. I am not really sure, but maybe one cause for these low keyword usage ratings might be redirects or some meta tag issues, but I am really not sure. Any ideas?

Is it better to include the secondary keyword or site name in a title tag?
When I add a site name to my title tag with long-tailed primary and secondary keywords the title tag is longer than 70 characters. I need to include all three parts, so what should I do? At 70 characters the site name is usually partially cut off. I do not want to get penalized by Google, but I need to include the site name to have consistency. I am using the format Primary Keyword-Secondary Keyword | Site name
