Need some rescue tips
-
Hi guys
I set up a website about 8 months back with the intention to bring in visitors who were after DIY advice & product reviews. To start it was bringing in decent levels of traffic. However since the Google Algorthym updates around October-time the levels of traffic have noticeably nose dived.
if you're on your lunch break and have 5 mins to hand I'd really appreciate any advise you guys have on how to rescue this trend. Here's the website in question: www.diyu.co.uk
Any constructive feedback welcome Thanks in advance

I think that you got great information from Gregory and Yusuf.
Pages are a little thin on content.
I absolutely agree. Many retail pages have no content. Others have really thin content. This site has potential for a Panda penalty.
And are those product descriptions copied from another site?
I grabbed a few random sentences from product descriptions and identical descriptions appear on dozens to hundreds of other sites. This website will not live long in at least the Google SERPs with that much thin and copied content.
if you're on your lunch break and have 5 mins to hand....
Five minute advice is one of the greatest perils of Q&A. If you are going to make a greater investment into this site (writing your own content will be very costly) it would be a good idea to have a full list of the necessary work so you can make a good decision before you spend more money. You can learn more about Panda, Penguin and other problems here and possibly correlate your traffic drop date to a google update... and/or you can hire a person experienced with penalized sites to do an assessment.

Hi. Just looking at your backlinks, you only appear to have one external backlink which is from a directory.

I would suggest trying to gain more links from high quality links related to your industry by producing great content that receives natural inbound links and/or getting in touch with site owners to see if you can contribute to their sites.

Hi DHStom,
I took just a quick peek and saw these things:
Language and Location tags both say: content="<a class="attribute-value">en_US</a>" but probably should be UK not US.
Pages are a little thin on content. And are those product descriptions copied from another site? Try rewriting the descriptions in you own unique style (to avoid dupe content issues) and maybe add a bit more of your own text about why it's a good choice or some unique uses for the items.
Good luck!
Greg

Need to fill out supplier form to pay for Moz Con
First of all, I wish there was an email I could contact for this. I am planning on attending Moz Con next month with my company. However the policy internally is that in order for my company to cover the conference, I need to get someone from Moz to fill out our new supplier form. Is there anyone that can help out with this? Any insight or answers would be much appreciated.

Need help replicating Richard Baxter's Keyword research
A few years ago(maybe it was last year?), Richard Baxter gave a live demo of some fancy keyword research techniques at MozCon. I've been using those methods for a while, but can't figure out how to pull all the keywords from a list that match keywords in a table. I know it's either a VLookup or an Array formula. Does anyone here remember that presentation? Able to help out? Thanks in advance, Chris

Any ideas or tips how to get more customers, have you been in a similar situation ?
A couple of years ago I bought a holiday cottage in the UK and I couldn't afford to have it stood empty which lead me to get into search engine optimisation and marketing and now I'm hooked by most of the people on this forum and it's become a hobby and a way of life. I'm getting good search results on Google for terms like Whitby holiday cottages, which is one of the major search terms traffic wise and I'm appearing above the fold on page 1 of Google along with some of the big boys. http://www.endeavourcottage.co.uk/ I've managed to get somewhere in the region of 95% occupancy throughout the year for my own holiday cottage so I decided I would like to branch out into small letting agency represent the peoples properties. Over the 12 months I've managed to acquire four clients on my new letting agency website but I found the hardest bit is getting new customers for the website. The main holiday letting agency in Whitby has well over 100 cottages on their books and they according to various sources do not provide high occupancy rates and this is probably down to the fact of the sheer number of their clients. My idea is to just manage a small number of 10 or 20 properties in a more personal way and provide a good service for each client. The four clients I now represent only came to be because I physically met the people in the town and got to know them personally and they are getting much better occupancy rates from my website and marketing campaign. If I could get a few more customers I could spend more time and money on my marketing campaign and make the business hopefully an intimate successful affair for all parties. I lived 80 miles away from the seaside resort and I very rarely stay there is my cottages mostly occupied so the chances of meeting people is quite slim at the moment. You can e-mail people till you're blue in the face but they don't seem to want to trust you and give you their property to represent as an agent when you've never actually met them and you don't have a physical bricks and mortar frontage or a history in this type of business. Basically the town is full of holiday cottages with very low occupancy rates, and even though I'm advertising to take on new clients with no red tape and contract I have attracted no new customers from my website.I also tryed the local paper and just
