Duplicate Content

Crawl Diagnostics has returned several issues that I'm unsure how to fix. I'm guessing it's a canonical link issue but not entirely sure...
Duplicate Page Content/Titles
On a website (http://www.smselectronics.co.uk/market-sectors) with 6 market sectors but each pull the same 3 pages as child pages - certifications, equipment & case studies.
On each products section where the page only shows X amount of items but there are several pages to fit all the products this creates multiple pages.
There is also a similar pagination problem with the Blogs (auto generated date titles & user created SEO titles) & News listings.
Blog Tags also seem to generate duplicate pages with the same content/titles as the parent page. Are these particularly important for SEO or is it more important to remove the duplication by deleting them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Afraid I don't have any experience with Processwire. I would try looking through their modules/plug-ins to see if there is something for pagination tags. If don't have any luck there, I would try contacting their support or forums.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. This site is built on the ProcessWire CMS platform thus the multiple pages are automatically generated if there are over a set number of items on the product or news pages so there is nowhere to include pagination tags. Can you suggest any alternative ideas?

I'll see what I can help with:
For the market sectors, if you don't have unique content for each of the child pages, why have them duplicated under each parent category (are there plans to add unique content)? You could change the structure of that menu box to just include links to certifications, equipment and case studies and then put them under their own pages instead of duplicated under each market sector.
The products page section needs the pagination tags not canonical tags. Rel="next" and rel="prev" tags for your series. The canonical tag should go on the view all page if there is one.
The blogs doesn't sound like a pagination problem at all, but a title problem. If there is some setting in your CMS you should be able to customize how your title structure works for both article pages, category pages, archive pages, etc. Change the structure to set-up unique names. Or if they are not important pages (ex. author archives) throw a "noindex, follow" tag on them. Again follow the same pagination structure: page 1 should have rel="next", page 2 should have rel="prev" and rel="next"...etc.
Tag pages are not important from an SEO standpoint, only really for the user if they are interested in seeing similar content based on your tags. If you are getting duplicate content on your different tag pages because of low volume then just noindex your tag pages or remove them completely.
Hope these make sense follow up with me if you have questions!

I had a similar question a few days ago and was directed to this resource which I found very helpful : http://www.ayima.com/seo-knowledge/conquering-pagination-guide.html. In regards to your concern about the tag aggregation page, it depends on which CMS (if any) you are using and how it is implemented. If you purchase the Advanced SEO Training videos Moz offers they cover this in the fist disk. In summary it is good to have tag aggregation pages to be indexed since the combination of the content in context of the targeted tag can provide value that the content does not provide by itself. To increase the value of this some CMS's allow for providing unique descriptions to be shown in aggregation so that it does not cannibalize the value of the content. I hope this helps.

Duplicate content when working with makes and models?
Okay, so I am running a store on Shopify at the address https://www.rhinox-group.com. This store is reasonably new, so being updated constantly! The thing that is really annoying me at the moment though, is I am getting errors in the form of duplicate content. This seems to be because we work using the machine make and model, which is obviously imperative, but then we have various products for each machine make and model. Have we got any suggestions on how I can cut down on these errors, as the last thing I want is being penalised by Google for this! Thanks in advance, Josh

Duplicate content : domain alias issue
Hello there ! Let's say my client has 2 webshops (that exists since long time, so many backlinks & good authority on both) : individuals.nl : for individuals (has 200 backlinks, let's say) pros.nl : exact same products, exact same content, but with a different branding intended to professionnals (has 100 backlinks, let's say) So, both websites are 99% identical and it has to remain like that !!! Obviously, this creates duplicate content issues. Goal : I want "individuals.nl" to get all ranking value (while "pros.nl" should remain accessible through direct access & appear on it's own brand queries). Solution ? Implement canonical tags on "pros**.nl**" that goes to "individuals.nl". That way, "individuals.nl" will get all ranking value, while "pros.nl" will still be reachable through direct access. However, "individuals.nl" will then replace "pros.nl" from SERP in the long-term. The only thing I want is to keep "pros.nl" visible for its own brand queries -> it won't be possible through organic search result, so, I'm just gonna buy those "pros" queries through paid search ! Put links on all pages of pros.nl to individuals.nl (but not the other way around), so that "pros.nl" will pass some ranking value to "individuals.nl" (but only a small part of the ranking value -> ideally, I would like to pass all link value to this domain). Could someone advise me ??? (I know it sound a bit complicated... but I don't have much choice ^^)

Simple duplicate content query
Hello Community, One of my clients runs a job board website. They are having some new framework installed which will lead to them having to delete all their jobs and re-add them. The same jobs will be re-posted but with a different reference number which in turn with change each URL. I believe this will cause significant duplicate content issues, I just thought I would get a second opinion on best practice for approaching a situation like this. Would a possible solution be to delete jobs gradually and 301 re-direct old URLs to new URLs? Many thanks in advance, Adam

Duplicate Content - Different URLs and Content on each
Seeing a lot of duplicate content instances of seemingly unrelated pages. For instance, http://www.rushimprint.com/custom-bluetooth-speakers.html?from=topnav3 is being tracked as a duplicate of http://www.rushimprint.com/custom-planners-diaries.html?resultsperpg=viewall. Does anyone else see this issue? Is there a solution anyone is aware of?

Duplicate content in Magento
Hi all We got some serious issues with duplicate content on a Magento site that we are marketing. For example: http://www.citcop.se/varmepumpar-luft-luft/panasonic/panasonic-nordic-ce9nke-5-0kw http://www.citcop.se/panasonic/panasonic-nordic-ce9nke-5-0kw http://www.citcop.se/panasonic-nordic-ce9nke-5-0kw All of the above seem to work just fine as it is now but since they are excatly the same product they should ofcourse do a 301 redirect to the main page. Any ideas on how to sort this out in Magnto without having to resort to manual work in .htaccess? Have a great day Fredrik

Duplicate Content Issue
Very strange issue I noticed today. In my SEOMoz Campaigns I noticed thousands of Warnings and Errors! I noticed that any page on my website ending in .php can be duplicated by adding anything you want to the end of the url, which seems to be causing these issues. Ex: Normal URL - www.example.com/testing.php Duplicate URL - www.example.com/testing.php/helloworld The duplicate URL displays the page without the images, but all the text and information is present, duplicating the Normal page. I Also found that many of my PDFs seemed to be getting duplicated burried in directories after directories, which I never ever put in place. Ex: www.example.com/catalog/pdfs/testing.pdf/pdfs/another.pdf/pdfs/more.pdfs/pdfs/ ... when the pdfs are only located in a pdfs directory! I am very confused on how to fix this problem. Maybe with some sort of redirect?

Duplicate content domains ranking successfully
I have a project with 8 domains and each domain is showing the same content (including site structure) and still all sites do rank. When I search for a specific word-string in google it lists me all 8 domains. Do you have an explanation, why Google doesn't filter those URLs to just one URL instead of 8 with the same content?
