Duplicate pages with canonical links still show as errors
-
On our CMS, there are duplicate pages such as /news, /news/, /news?page=1, /news/?page=1. From an SEO perspective, I'm not too worried, because I guess Google is pretty capable of sorting this out, but to be on the safe side, I've added canonical links. /news itself has no link, but all the other variants have links to "/news". (And if you go wild and add a bunch of random meaningless parameters, creating /news/?page=1&jim=jam&foo=bar&this=that, we will laugh at you and generate a canonical link back to "/news". We're clever like that.)
So far so good. And everything appears to work fine. But SEOMoz is still flagging up errors about duplicate titles and duplicate content. If you click in, you'll see a "Note" on each error, showing that SEOMoz has found the canonical link. So SEOMoz knows the duplication isn't a problem, as we're using canonical links exactly the way they're supposed to be used, and yet is still flagging it as an error.
Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it just a bug in SEOMoz?

Hi Loughnan
Its a bit difficult to diagnose without seeing the pages in question, so could post the full URL and also an example of 2 pages that the SEOmoz web app is seeing as duplicate.
If you rather not put the link up on here, feel free to Private Message me.

Yahoo Store Beginner with "duplicate content" errors. Can I pay for support? $$$
Hi. I have a Yahoo store that seems to have many errors. We built the site for utility knowing NOTHING about SEO. We just started with MOZ and would love to PAY someone to help get us past the beginning stages. Is there someone familiar with the Yahoo! Store format that can charge us perhaps in hourly blocks to walk us through possible solutions to issues? One issue we are having... seems to be that our subsections which contain items that are the endpoints... I know of no way to label the sections anything but an "item". I'm wondering if this might be causing the "duplicate" error because a specific item is listed both in the section and on it's own page. please help! Thom 888-567-5194

How can I deal with tag page duplicate issues
The Moz crawler reported some dupliated issues. Many of them have to do with tags.
Moz Pro | | IamKovacs
Each tag has a link, and as some articles are under several tags, these come up as duplicate content. I read Dr Peter's piece on Canonical stuff, but it's not clear to me if any of these are the solution. Perhaps the solution lies somewhere else? Maybe I need to block the robots from these urls (But that seems counter-SEO-productive) Thanks

Sudden increase in on-page links
Within one week, the site crawl shows my on-page links going from ~10 to ~100+ Does anyone know of a rational reason for this? Sucuri shows my site is clean, so I don't think it's a hack. 10 seems too low to begin with anyway. Any ideas? Thanks 🙂

1 week has passed: Crawled pages still N/A
Roughly one week ago I went pro, and then I created a campaing for the smallish webshop that I'm employed at, however it doesn't seem to crawl. I've check our visitors log and while we find other bots such as google, bing, yandex and so fourth, seomoz bot hasn't been visible. Perhaps I'm looking for a normal useragent, ohwell, onwards. While I thought it might take time, as a small test I added a domain that I've owned for sometime but don't really use, that target site is only 17 pages, now this site was crawled almost within the hour, and I realised that our ~5000pages on the main campaing would take some time, but wouldn't the initial 250 pages be crawled by now? I should add, that I didn't add http:// to the original Campaing, but the one that got crawled I did. I cannot seem to change this myself inorder to spot if that's the problem or not. Anyone has any ideas, should I just wait or is there something I can activly do to force it to start rolling?

In my crawl diagnostics, there are links to duplicate content. How can I track down where these links originated in?
How can I find out how SEOMOz found these links to begin with? That would help fix the issue. Where's the source page where the link was first encountered listed at?

SEOmoz indicating duplicate page content on one of my campaigns
Hello All, Alright, according to SEOmoz's PRO campaign manager, one of my websites is returning about 2,700 pages that supposedly have duplicate content. I checked a few of them manually and am not seeing where the issue lies. Is anyone else experiencing something similar to this and do you know if it is just a glitch with the crawl? Here are 2 of the pages it is indicating have dup page content: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/c-3120-1994-98-59l-12v-dodge-cummins-carbon-fiber-hoods.aspx http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/c-90-dodge-cummins-94-02-59l-12v24v.aspx Any insight would be greatly appreciated! -Craig
