Google reconsideration request processed - but same story.
-
We have been getting the same response from Google after several reconsideration requests.
THE SITUATION:
Our site displays 3 distinct product lines. We separated each product line by use of SUB-DOMAINS. All 3 product lines are integrated as part of the main NAVBAR. The product list pages run off the sub-domain; however, product detail pages run off the MAIN-DOMAIN.GWT
Google has taken manual action because the MAIN-DOMAIN.COM links to PRODUCT-A.DOMAIN.COM on every single page. I attempted several times to explain; but without success. It's only one SUB-DOMAIN causing a problem. The other 2 SUB-DOMAINS are setup the exact same what without issue. This week, we simply added a NO-FOLLOW on the link to the SUB-DOMAIN causing the issue; we will see if this helps.Anyone else ever experience this?

Any chance you can screenshot and redact the domain - I am not sure that this is being read right...
-
MAIN-DOMAIN.COM account in GWT
- Within the MANUAL ACTION option; there is a MORE LINK under the "Affects, Some incoming links"; upon click, popup displays message :"Affected URL matches, Pointing to: PRODUCT-A.DOMAIN.COM
-
"Google has taken manual action because the MAIN-DOMAIN.COM links to PRODUCT-A.DOMAIN.COM on every single page."
How do you know that this is the problem? Google is not usually that specific when they give out penalties. Can you copy and paste the message you are getting from Google and also what you see in your manual actions viewer (Search Traffic --> Manual Actions)?

Hi there,
I haven't seen this personally - would you be able to include (or PM to me) the email from the web spam team saying that it is the subdomain that is causing the problem?
Nofollowing the link could do the trick as nofollow is meant to make Google essentially ignore the link, but I am curious about their rationale behind a manual penalty due to linking to your own subdomain.

What should I include in disavow file and/or reconsideration request?
My client got a manual penalty notice. Need to submit a disavow file and reconsideration request which is new territory for me. The task of contacting/disavowing 100's of sites to remove 1000's of links is a bit overwhelming. Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Search console is showing 100's of hacked websites pointing to the site. Many of the incoming links showing in search console are already gone. Should I include in the disavow file or is the disavow file only for links that persist? I have read that Google does not actually read the #remarks in the disavow file. Since its manual penalty should I include them anyway since it's possible that a human could look it over? If anyone who has submitted a reconsideration request for unnatural links can comment on their use or non use of #remarks and the result that would be very helpful. You can tell that Google wants an effort to be made that the site owners are contacted. What is the best way to document that? In the reconsideration request?: The disavow file? or both.

Google not Indexing images on CDN.
My URL is: http://bit.ly/1H2TArH We have set up a CDN on our own domain: http://bit.ly/292GkZC We have an image sitemap: http://bit.ly/29ca5s3 The image sitemap uses the CDN URLs. We verified the CDN subdomain in GWT. The robots.txt does not restrict any of the photos: http://bit.ly/29eNSXv. We used to have a disallow to /thumb/ which had a 301 redirect to our CDN but we removed both the disallow in the robots.txt as well as the 301. Yet, GWT still reports none of our images on the CDN are indexed. The above screenshot is from the GWT of our main domain. The GWT from the CDN subdomain just shows 0. We did not submit a sitemap to the verified subdomain property because we already have a sitemap submitted to the property on the main domain name. While making a search of images indexed from our CDN, nothing comes up: http://bit.ly/293ZbC1While checking the GWT of the CDN subdomain, I have been getting crawling errors, mainly 500 level errors. Not that many in comparison to the number of images and traffic that we get on our website. Google is crawling, but it seems like it just doesn't index the pictures!? Can anyone help? I have followed all the information that I was able to find on the web but yet, our images on the CDN still can't seem to get indexed.

Does putting a Google custom search box on make Google think my users are bouncing?
I added a Google custom search box to my pages, that's doing an advanced Google search. A lot of people are using it. So users are coming to my site from a Google search, and then often performing another Google search on my site. Should I be worried that Google may interpret the resultant user behavior as a bounce or pogo-stick? Or will the fact that the second search occurred on my site, using custom search, and with advanced parameters signal to Google that this is not a dissatisfied user returning to Google? Thanks

Block Google Sitelinks for DSEO?
I am trying to manage DSEO for a client. The question is: would blocking a page listing from my client's Google Sitelinks cause that blocked sitelink page to be independently listed in the rankings and therefore potentially stuff a negative listing further down the rankings? Or would the blocked sitelink not show up at all in the SERPs
