Flash Banners in 2014
-
So, my company is sinking a ton of money into creating flash banners to distribute across multiple media buys in the months to come. I was wondering if Flash was still a good platform to create banners in 2014/2015. My understanding is that more and more devices, such as tablets and smartphones are moving away from supporting flash and more and more people are moving to a mobile/tablet preferrence. If so, this would probably diminish our ability to find optimal success?
any advice or opinions are welcome!

I do believe that purchasing direct advertising on specific sites, as well as GDN and other networks are both in the cards.
I was just curious about format, since I was under the impression that Flash was being phased out by most sites these days and HTML5 is coming on strong. Most of the comments here support this theory. Unfortunately, my company does not. They still think there is no difference between flash, animated gif and html5 when it comes to banner creative.
They will learn soon enough, with or without my input (which is never asked for when planning)

Here is 2 different perspectives:
Lynda.com
Forbes.comPeople like to jump on the HTML5 vs Flash bandwagon, either because it makes them sound like an expert when they don't really know, or because they have self interest in their message.
The best answer is: Look into both, and see which one allows all the features that you want to use, where you want to use it.
Question, why are you not using adsense to distribute your banners?
On a side note, if you are looking to increase clicks and traffic another option I have seen used with good traffic-driving results is Taboola.

The end of service life for Flash to be supported on Android devices was Sept 2013, no new versions are to be made and no new devices / Android versions supported. I would personally not use it. Here is a link to the adobe road map, at the bottom it tells the mobile info. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplatform/whitepapers/roadmap.html

Since apple's products don't support flash you are losing a big chunk of the public from the start. With Html 5, flash is on its way out but alot of people/ places still use it. BUT I wouldn't develop anything in flash in this space year 2014!

Personally, I would avoid Flash for mobile in particular iOS mobile platforms as they will not display...I don't think!? I would suggest moving to HTML5 Video or animated HTML and JS, you could always still run Animated GiFs. Others may suggest otherwise.

Migrating educational resources for a SaaS product to an existing domain?
Odd situation I'm hoping some folks may have insight on. We have a product site and an educational site (two entirely separate domains). The educational site has: Existed for longer (24 years vs 13). Currently ranks for far more keywords and drives more traffic. Is an entirely separate brand from the product. Has historically driven sales to the product site (through email and onsite ads) but that channel has diminished over time. The product site Also has educational resources Is a more recognizable brand When prioritized resources here often drive far more revenue The Challenge

Both sites cover very similar topics, making prioritization challenging and splits our topical focus. We are considering making the educational site our sole place for resources, migrating content from the product site, and rebranding the site to line up more closely with the product. Basically retain the domain, make it our sole focus for updates and new content, but align it with the strength of our more recognizable product. The Questions Does anyone have any experience with this type of rebrand where a separate domain is retained? Are we risking the loss of branded search queries in the process or some other risk? While potentially risking ranking/traffic loss would it make more sense to migrate all valuable content to the product site instead? Sorry for the long-winded questions here and appreciate any thoughts/ideas!0 -
Can we use Youtube Videos of google webmaster on blog post?
Is it okay to embed YouTube videos of channel which we don't own? For example, I have written a blog on enabling event search in Google Analytics and Google Webmasters YouTube channel has a video based on those steps. I am looking to add that video in my blog.

B2B Blogger Outreach
Hi I'm working on an SEO campaign in relation to vacuum cleaners. I'm working on some outreach and as we focus on B2B I'm finding it difficult to find blogs which are B2B focused. We would ideally want customers who are buying a number of vacuums for their business - but it could be any industry. Instead of B2B blogs, I have gone with the angle of cleaning/organising blogs, with lots of followers on social. However, does anyone know of any good B2B blogs they could recommend? I'm looking for something written by facilities/buildings managers - if blogs like this exist 🙂 Thank you

Best Place for Reviews in 2014
Honest, genuine & unedited customer reviews are something that I'm going to focus on for multiple companies that I work for in 2014. My question is where is the best place to push my customers to leave reviews for the company? On the company's website? Google+? Google Local? Bing? Yahoo? Yelp? Facebook? Obviously the answer is all of the above, but if you had to rank the top 3 places to get reviews that would help the company's SEO rankings & online visibility, what would your top 3 be?

1 Website, 2 Business Names, 2 Locations
I took on a dentist office as an SEO client. They have 1 website, 2 business names and 2 locations. Each location has it's own business name. They are both within the same city as well. I'm not exactly sure where to start with them since they have 2 different business names. If it were 1 name with multiple locations I would just create a Contact Us page for each one, but is that the best thing to do when the location names are different? Should I create a different website for each location or is that smart because then they are competing against each other? Any help from the community on the direction I should take would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
