Google Analytics: How to Track Blog Traffic that Enter the Purchase Funnel?
-
I've been trying to figure this out for awhile, but I have had no luck.
The current ecommerce store that I work for is trying to find out how to track how many people coming in via the blog are converting/buying.
The site lives on Magento and the blog is on wordpress and they both use the same Google Analytics code.
Site URL: http://website.com/
Blog URL: http://website.com/blog
Is there anyway to do this so you can see which landing pages are driving conversions?
If not, Is it possible to set up Google Analytics to show conversions and revenue coming from people who enter through blog directory?

Hello Doug,
The short answer to your question is YES, this is all possible with Google Analytics.
FIrst of all, you should be using the newer Universal Analytics tracking code. For more information, see: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/upgrade/ . You may already be using it. See this page about how to tell if you're using Universal Analytics.
You must also have eCommerce tracking turned on in Google Analytics. Info here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009612?hl=en
After that it gets a little more complicated if you do it all from scratch. Here are the instructions from Google, which may require you to get help from a developer, and here is a good article from Fresh Egg about it. Lucky for you, Magento makes it pretty easy by already including eCommerce tracking. All you have to do is enable it.
As for tracking purchases from the blog, if it is installed on the same domain in a subdirectory (i.e. .com/blog/) and uses the same Universal Analytics tracking code as the rest of the site I don't think it matters what "platform" it is on. I think you "should" still see the data on transactions by page.
If you're still having problems after this I'd suggest contacting a Magento Developer to test and complete the implementation.

Hi!
You might want to try Goal Flow at least on Analytics. That might be what you are looking for.
You might want to look at Conversions -> Attribution for further data.

How long does Google Analytics credit a source?
I was under the impression that GA credits the source with a conversion if it is the source for the current session but it seems that if the user returns later that the source may still be credited. Is this the case? How long does GA credit a source?

Google Analytics - Adding a sub-domain
Hi I have a google analytics query.
Reporting & Analytics | | Niki_1
I have a main site with a google analytics tag and I have 2 forms that sit on a subdomain with a different GA code. As I would like to measure end to end tracking, I would like the same GA code on the subdomain. What is the best way for me to implement this? Would I need to make some changes to the GA code that sits on the main site or can I add the the GA code from the main site onto the subdomain? Thanks0 -

Google Analytics Not Tracking 100% of Visits?
Hi all, We're having an issue with Analytics where we are getting different figures from what Silver Pop are saying. For example email campaign A sent via Silver Pop, with Google Analytics tracking code show's 50 unique clicks in Silver Pop. Looking at Google Analytics there are only 10 visits from that campaign. So I thought it could be something with the tracking, but there wasn't a significant rise in web visits = either Google Analytics is not recording visits properly or Silver Pop figures are wrong. I'm more inclined to think that it's something to do with Google Analytics. Has anyone come across something similar? Where one system is showing you X amount of visits but the figures on Google Analytics don't add up? A few quick things already covered: Double checked the links have been tracked properly, but this doesn't explain the low increase in web visits generally We've double checked that Google Analytics tracking code is properly installed (and it is / was at the time of send). Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys.

Is Google analytics not working properly anymore?
Hi mozzers, We launched a website 2 months ago and when monitoring Organic data on GA we had an average of 23% bounce rate like a month ago but the last 2 weeks I noticed that bounce rate=0%. This is very weird especially that we haven't modified the existing pages and that multiple keywords show an average site duration of 0 seconds. Any thoughts about this discrepancy? Do you think that there is an issue with the GATC implemented? Thanks

Mobile and Google Analytics
As my mobile numbers are going up in Google Analytics I'm trying to figure out what phone runs what browser. I see that 93% of mobile users have Safari which I believe is iPhone, iPad and iPods. There is a 6% usage of "Mozilla Compatible Agent". What cell phone would this be?
