Need advice on Paying for content?

Hi,
We would like to attracting more readers onto our blog by accepting guest posting from external bloggers. Could anyone refer any good artricles on MOZ about the best practices on managing the activities and what would be the normal KPIs and ROI?

The reason of not paying for content is it because that would turn the post into a form of advertisement therefore it would drop the value to the audience?
Some of the online guest posting sites like MYBlogGuest has a monthly fee is it not considered as paying for content?

I'm not greatly familiar with this topic but this is what I suggest.
- For starters: Don't Pay For Content. Not even for guest posts.
In my opinion, you should just be able to ask someone to write a guest post on a certain topic, maybe you think someone else's point of view might be better than your own or you just don't want to write about it. You both will benefit from the post if it is a well written post, it is marketed correctly and linked back to the authors site.
I think the ROI can be represented by traffic increases and user engagement. If you are running adwords then you might find a monetary return that way. If you are selling a product and the article helps direct readers to your site or product you can monitor the monetary gains that way.
Setup Goals tracking in google analytics and track visits through article to your products (you can create a funnel all the way through checkout if you want). I hope all o this makes sense. like I said above, I'm not really familiar with guest posts. Oh and don't forget to return the favor for the guest author!

Morning Mozzers, We have finally come to the point where we can start to focus on making good original content. We were wondering how you guys come up with ideas for your content. We are currently doing lots of keyword research to gather ideas and subject areas. But we are struggling with 'angles of attack'. Being an eCommerce site it is easy to do lots of "The 5 best products for this" type of content. But we feel there is limited value in these especially if we want to gain links to our articles in future as valued content. Blog Content if Google has stated it doesn't like your blog?
Hi guys, In the new 'mobile usability' tab in Webmaster Tools, Google has stated that our blog isn't offering a good experience for users. Something we already knew and I want to change, but I can't get the budget approved to complete the work. I was just wondering if you think Google isn't going to hold my content very high as a result. I want to produce more content on our blog around our valuable keywords in hope to improve our rankings, but if Google isn't holding our site in high regard I'm thinking there may not be much point in it. Same content on site blog as a separate blog. Will unpublishing on one blog evade duplicate content issues?
I just discovered my client was posting the same content as the site I'm working on for him on a separate blog. I don't want to run into duplicate content issues. Both are Wordpress sites. Will it suffice to simply unpublish duplicate entries on the other blog and leave the posts as drafts?

Can having similar content on my company's two sites hurt our rankings?
We have a very successful website that has been up for a number of years (www.comellaortho.com). We rank high in the natural rankings for that site. A few months ago, we started seeing patients in another nearby city. I purchased a new domain name, www.dansvilleortho.com, and had our web company duplicate the website under the new domain name. The reality is that the content on these two sites are nearly identical. Some of the pages are different; for example, there are fewer pages on the new site. But the pages that do exist are nearly identical. My question is: Can having similar content on my company's two sites hurt our rankings? Based on what I've read thus far, I believe the answer is "Yes". However, I'm curious how bad this may hurt us. I'm not as worried about the new site (dansvilleortho.com) because our competition in that city is slim to none. But I AM worried about harming the original site/business (comellaortho.com). Which site(s) rankings may be affected by this, and if so, how bad? Thank you.

Duplicate Page Content & Rel-Canonicals
The SEO Moz duplicate page content tool lists the following URL's as having duplicate content: http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx?sort=PriceAsc&pi=2 The second URL is the price sorter/second page of the category and contains the following rel-canonical: | http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx"> Are we using the rel-canonical correctly in this case? If so, why does it continue to show up as duplicate content in our SEO Moz report? There are over 1,000 URLS listed in the report with the exact same issue. |

Content being copied from our product page hurting our site overall?
On our product pages, he have short descriptions and some bulleted lists. Resellers of our products, and many other sites who are not resellers are copying this content, often verbatim. While I'm not as concerned for the product pages themselves as we're hoping the category pages will rank, does this duplication of our content hurt our site overall? FWIW, our brand name is in our domain and often also shown on these sites that copy the content.
