Domain Structure - without www.

I'm working on a new project and we would prefer to not use the www. - for name/branding reasons. Are there any SEO ramifications from setting the domain without the www and using 301 redirects for all home page extensions to forward to -> domain.com(without the www)?
Furthermore, we will be hosting many profiles on this site and would like to structure them for optimal SEO. Would there be an issue with using sub domains - user.domain.com, or would sub directories be more optimal?

1. It sounds like the site already has the www right now. You don't really need to change it, but since you want to, then go ahead and forward it. I have never experienced any bad coming from this personally. I does take a while to get ALL the urls that are indexed to show the right one but aside from that, none really.
2. Is it going to be an easily spammable, unmoderated platform? Then I'd go with user.domain.com.
But in most cases, use the /folder.

If this is truly a "NEW" project and you are setting it up from scratch, go ahead and proceed without the www. This will not effect your project in any way unless of course there ARE existing links coming into the www version. If so, you may lose that as KempRugeLawGroup stated. Otherwise you should be just fine.
For the subdomain vs subfolder, IMO, the best approach would be to go with the subfolder keeping it all within the one domain like Rand mentioned.

However, there was a question about that topic here on Moz a few months ago, and Rand Fishkin "strongly urged" a single subdomain (which is also my own preference): http://moz.com/community/q/moz-s-official-stance-on-subdomain-vs-subfolder-does-it-need-updating
And for www vs not, you will have to 301 it one way or the other and there is generally very little link juice lost with a 301 so if no www is better for your brand, I would go for it.

For the first question, the answer is...possibly. It all depends on how other people link to your site. If they link to it via www.yoursite.com, then the redirect will lose you some link juice. If they link to you via yoursite.com, then no. However, considering moz, doesn't use the www, I have to think it's really not that big of a deal.

No structured sitemap
Hello We face this problem that a lot of sitemaps are structurally not good. In this case we used the WP sitemap plugin to generate the website sitemap and Google XML sitemaps to generate the sitemap for Google. We also bought the Yoast premium plugin, but we can read in the backend that the plugin XML sitemaps may cause problems in combination with Yoast. Normally the Google XML sitemap generator improves SEO using sitemaps for the best indexation by search engines, but the structure is not as we want it. Will this URL structure: "domain.com/s/content-title" cause problems?
Hey all, We have a new in-house built too for building content. The problem is it inserts a letter directly after the domain automatically. The content we build with these pages aren't all related, so we could end up with a bunch of urls like this: domain.com/s/some-calculator

Duplicate Page Content for www and non-www. Help!
Hi guys, having a bit of a tough time here... MOZ is reporting duplicate content for 21 pages on eagleplumbing.co.nz, however the reported duplicate is the www version of the page. For example: http://eagleplumbing.co.nz and http://www.eagleplumbing.co.nz are considered duplicates (see screenshot attached) Currently in search console I have just updated the non-www version to be set as the preferred version (I changed this back and forth twice today because I am confused!!!). Does anyone know what the correct course of action should be in this case? Things I have considered doing include: changing the preferred version to the www version in webmaster tools, setting up 301 redirects using a wordpress plugin called Eggplant 301 redirects. I have been doing some really awesome content creation and have created some good quality citations, so I think this is only thing that is eaffecting my rank. Redirect domain without losing SEO benefit,
Now my website need to change to new domain, Since we start this website we have the landing page for sale and blog. So I need to redirect both a.com to b.com and a.com/blog/ to b.com/blog/ and I need to do by these step to keeping the benefit of SEO. For a.com Preparing the new site by duplicate the information of old site. (Get them no-index, no-follow) Export all URL to excel files by Xenu then look up together for re-check the information are they the same or not, I think we can check that if we used the same title. Redirect together by 301 codes. Get google bot know by submission to Google Webmaster Tools (Google Search Console) For a.com/blog/ Since we used wordpress to be our blog CMS, So we need to install wordpress CMS to b.com/blog/, Then backup SQL from PHP C Panel & files. Re-upload that SQL database & files to new server. Export all URL contain /blog/ then look up together by excel again. Redirect by 301 codes. So for this method what am i wrong or need to change please suggestion me. According to this is the technical SEO stuff that I never done before. After we redirect the old domain to new domain how much time Google will take for checking and give the benefit for us with the same benefit. And what we have to do for Moz.org to checking our issues & ranking. Plus - what can we do for no-index, no-follow page that belong to a.com because my website also doing these page as well for each marketing campaign to avoid Google to index.

Transfer a Main Domain to a Sub-Domain
My IT department tells me they want to transfer my main site domain, which has been in existence since 1999 as an e-commerce site (maindomain.com) to a sub-domain (www2.maindomain.com) or a completely new domain (newdomain.net). This is because we are launching a new website and B2C e-commerce engine, but we still have to maintain the legacy B2B e-commerce engine which contains hard-coded URLs, and both systems can't use the same domain. I've been researching the issue across SEOmoz, but I haven't come across this exact type of scenario (mostly I've seen a sub-domain to new domain). I see major problems with their proposal, including negative SEO impact, loss of domain authority/ranking and issues with branding. Does anyone know the exact type of impact I can expect to see in this scenario and specific steps I should go about to minimize the impact? Btw, I will be using Danny Dover's guide on properly moving domains where appropriate. Thanks!

Two Sites - One Domain
I just want to be sure, but if I install a Wordpress blog in a subfolder of a HTML site, Google will see that as one site, not two different sites, correct? Even if there is two index files?

.ca and. com domains
Hello, currently the main site im working on is a .com, but have the .ca version purchased from register.com. should i have this setup to redirect to the .com site. will google see these as dup content. We have the .ca for our canadian customers but both sites are identical. Thank you

Domains
My questions is what to do with old domains we own from a past business. Is it advantages to direct them to the new domain/company or is that going to cause a problem for the new company. They are not in the same industry.
