I Mistakenly uploaded Disavow File to Non WWW version of Webiste in Webmaster Tools...is this a Problem???
-
Hey guys and gals,
I need some advice on this please. I recently had someone perform a negative S.E.O campaign on my site and I was inundated with 13,000 + spammy links pointing to my website and I had to perform a Disavow in Google Webmaster Tools but for some reason, it is showing that I uploaded the Disavow text file to the Non WWW version of the website but the WWW version of my website is the preferred domain and I have all NON WWW queries being 301 redirected to www.pcmedicsoncall.com
My question is should I correct this and upload the Disavow text to the preferred domain in Google Webmaster Tools???
Please advise on how I should proceed with this situation....
Thank you.

TAGFEE stands for our core values of Transparent, Authentic, Generous, Fun, Empathetic, and Exceptional. I perhaps should have instead linked to our Community Etiquette page at http://moz.com/community/blog-disclaimer.
In short, let's keep this Q&A discussion related to the question -- what to do when the disavow file is uploaded to the non-www version of a domain instead of the www version in GWT.

If you don't mind me asking what is TAGFEE? Google are a bunch of tyrants that indiscriminately kill off legitimate small business and are accountable to no one for anything that they do and you are asking me to be politically correct when making reference towards Google? Why?
I would say that this is the majority of the problem with what is going on. Everyone agrees just to agree because it's google and I see a lot of highly intelligent people having technical conversations about these super imposed games of hop scotch backwards that google inflicts upon all of us and yet no one says or does anything. I believe that would make those who participate part of the problem not part of the solution wouldn't you agree?
If anything, people need to start voicing their true opinions and feelings about what is going on and all of us should come together and put an end to this crap once and for all!!! GOOGLE IS A DICTATOR that is trying to disassemble the internet and make a 2 classification system of masters and slaves. Which side of the fence do you think you will be banished to when this comes to pass?
Sorry but I have my view points based on analyzing data for the past 6 years now and I apologize if you do not agree with my view points on what is what.
Thank you for reading.

Thank you so much for your response Mark I truly appreciate your insight through your experience with having done this numerous times.
I had done some searching earlier and saw that people were saying it was not wise to delete a disavow file so...I just figured that I would go with the logical approach and just submit one for the www version of my site.
Thanks again for sharing your experience Mark and believe me, it's comforting to know that what I did by submitting the disavow file to the www version is not going to hinder or hurt me.
Why is GOOGLE such a bunch of Nazi Douche Bags anymore?....Oh yeah...MONEY... I guess 64 Billion a year is not satisfactory enough....I really despise GOOGLE with a passion these days and wish someone would get rid of this company!!!!

I upload disavows to both versions - so I would simply say add it to the www one as well.
(I've submitted a LOT of disavows - this has never been a problem.)

Nuisance visitors to non active page. What's going on?
Hi Guys, for the past several months, I get high volume of searches on a non-existing page /h/9249823.html. These searches come from all over the world from different domains and have a zero session duration. They are automatically forwarded to my home page. The source re Google Analytics is 12-reasons-for-seo.com. The full referrer is 12.reasons-for-seo.com/seo2php. Any idea what is provoking this activity? Any chance it's screwing with my legitimate search results or rankings?

Apparent Bot Queries and Impressions in Webmaster Tools
I've been noticing some strange stats in Google Webmaster Tools for my forum, which has been getting spam queries with impressions and no clicks. See the queries in the attached images. This might be a motive for the spammers or scrapers. I set the date range to just 22 Aug - 22 Nov and I see very obviously the spike is due to impressions. Questions: What should/can I do? Is Google doing something about this? How to avoid this? o6gKB

Can the disavow tool INCREASE rankings?
Hi Mozzers, I have a new client who has some bad links in their profile that are spammy and should be disavowed. They rank on the first page for some longer tail keywords. However, we're aiming at shorter, well-known keywords where they aren't ranking. Will the disavow tool, alone, have the ability to increase rankings (assuming on-site / off-site signals are better than competition)? Thanks, Cole

Advice on using the disavow tool to remove hacked website links
Hey Everyone, Back in December, our website suffered an attack which created links to other hacked webistes which anchor text such as "This is an excellent time to discuss symptoms, fa" "Open to members of the nursing/paramedical profes" "The organs in the female reproductive system incl" The links were only visible when looking at the Cache of the page. We got these links removed and removed all traces of the attack such as pages which were created in their own directory on our server 3 months later I'm finding websites linking to us with similar anchor text to the ones above, however they're linking to the pages that were created on our server when we were attacked and they've been removed. So one of my questions is does this effect our site? We've seen some of our best performing keywords drop over the last few months and I have a feeling it's due to these spammy links. Here's a website that links to us <colgroup><col width="751"></colgroup>

| http://www.fashion-game.com/extreme/blog/page-9 | If you do view source or look at the cached version then you'll find a link right at the bottom left corner. We have 268 of these links from 200 domains. Contacting these sites to have these links removed would be a very long process as most of them probably have no idea that those links even exist and I don't have the time to explain to each one how to remove the hacked files etc. I've been looking at using the Google Disavow tool to solve this problem but I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. We haven't had any warnings from Google about our site being spam or having too many spam links, so do we need to use the tool? Any advice would be very much appreciated. Let me know if you require more details about our problem. <colgroup><col width="355"></colgroup>

Beating the file sharing sites in SERPs - Can it be done and how?
Hi all, A new client of mine is an online music retailer (CD, vinyls, DVD etc) who is struggling against file sharing sites that are taking precedence over the client's results for searches like "tropic of cancer end of things cd" If a site a legal retailer trying to make an honest living who's then having to go up against the death knell of the music industry - torrents etc. If you think about it, with all the penalties Google is fond of dealing out, we shouldn't even be getting a whiff of file sharing sites in SERPs, right? How is it that file sharing sites are still dominating? Is it simply because of the enormous amounts of traffic they receive? Does traffic determine ranking? How can you go up against torrents and download sites in this case. You can work on the onsite stuff, get bloggers to mention the client's pages for particular album reviews, artist profiles etc, but what else could you suggest I do? Thanks,
