Why won't Open Site Explorer detect inbound links from big name websites?
-
I understand smaller, spammy sites woudn't get indexed, but some of the websites linking to mine have high domain authorities.
The website is a parked subdomain.

Thanks for the responses Bruce and TakeshiYoung!
For a full rundown on how we compile our index, check out this post. The best thing to do is to continue focusing on building high quality backlinks. This will improve the chances of your site getting more links indexed.

Big Name sites are huge and Moz cannot index every page of these sites. Often the link is buried deep in the Big Name Site and therefore will not be detected.
Try to build links with sites that have good authority, but are a bit more niche. Remember that links are not everything. Google is very keen on quality content too.
Hope this helps
Bruce

The Open Site Explorer index is only updated once every few weeks, so newer links won't appear in it for a while. In terms of backlink analysis, honestly MajesticSEO and AHREFs provide a lot more data than OSE.

Moz tool to estimate a website's organic traffic?
Moz has tons of great tools, so I was quite suprised there is nothing similar to Alexa's siteinfo tool, or SimilarWeb's site comparison tool. Am I missing something? Or does such a tool exists at Moz? Or is there a different way of estimating my competitor's traffic? It would be great if Moz would have something like that.

Are Just Discovered Links Reports Working?
I can't find my 4 month old site in Open Site Explorer. But as the site has had all of its posts tweeted I checked the Just Discovered Links reports to see if it was mentioned there. My domain is http://www.genesisclub.training but the problem is that if I target "this root domain" - I get a bunch of links that are nothing to do with my site. For example the root domain report includes sites linking to www.tinmagpie.training www.goahead.training powerquery.training http://videoproduction.training http://www.eti.training http://linkedinsales.training and more, as sites linking to my root domain. In which universe? The Just Discovered algorithm looks like it isn't coping with the .training TLD. It is treating my domain as if it were genesisclub.training.com so now anything.training is in my root domain.

Local listings aren't being crawled?
Hello, SEO brainiacs. Here is the problem I can't figure out:We have a lot of clients and all of them have local listings, such as Insider Pages, Yahoo local, Bing locals, Yelp, Yellow Pages etc etc etc.
Link Explorer | | seomozinator
And all of those local listing have company's website link. But none of those links are considered (found) in reports, such as opensite explorer or in Link Analysis Section of Moz PRO. I do know that MOZ crawl considers only high DA websites, but all of local listing domains have above 80-90 DA score, so they can't be NOT crawled. I will say that some local listings do appear on very few reports, but far not all of them. So, what can be the problem?0 -

Is something wrong with Open Site Explorer as I am not getting any social and other data? Is this a problem that will be fixed in the next couple of hours? Is this a bigger issue?

Open Site Explorer not reporting all 301 redirected links
Our site had over 2,000 root domains linking to it as reported in MOZ Open Site Explorer (and Google Webmaster Tools). We then changed the domain and made sure that 301 redirects were set up for all pages across the site. That was about 1 month ago. Open Site Explorer is now reporting less than 300 linking root domains. For the links that it is reporting the majority of these are being 301 redirected to the new URLs (some of them we changed the links directly). However the majority of the links that are being 301 redirected are not being reported. It is reporting most of the links coming from the old to the new domain. Google Webmaster Tools is reporting over 1,000 linking root domains to the new domain (it has a max of 1,000). We did notice that MOZ took some time to update the domain authority of the new domain. It was 1 for along time and it has now jumped up to 46 ( it was previously at 74). Maybe this is a time delay thing and eventually Open Site Explorer will report all of the 301 redirected links? It is a bit frustrating at the moment as we can't fully analyse the links to the site to try to focus on the high domain linking sites to get them to change the link directly. Also, If all links are being 301 redirected to the new domain should the authority not be close to where it was previously after one month? Our search traffic has dropped considerably since the launch of the new site and hasn't returned yet, so just wondering if the 301 redirected links pass on as much value as thre original direct links. Thanks, Damien
