What is the Impact of Canonical to a Canonical Page?
-
hey folks,
How does google respond to this, canonical to a canonical page?
i.e page A is canonical to Page which is already/also canonical to PAGE C.
Thanks In advance

The main thing to remember about setting up canonical tags, is that they must make sense. For example, it is fine to have 10 pages, each with the same canonical tag referencing one page. However, when you start to get into canonicals referencing each other and jumping around, then Google will probably ignore them, or could cause problems.
With regards back-links to no indexed pages, that is fine. The only time you need to be mindful of this, is if a link points to a page that then gets removed and not redirected.

Thanks Andy,
what is the impact of having thousands of canonical pages across the website, thought all of them not to the same page. I actually want to "no index", but what if there is back link for that Page?
How does Google treat back-links of a no-index page?

That isn't something you really should be doing. Google uses canonical tags as a strong hint as to the preferred page. Mixed signals could mess this up.
If Page A is Canonical to Page B, which is canonical to Page C, why not have page A canonical to Page C?

Too many on-page links
Hi, My website - www.thepartyhouse.com.au is showing as having too many on-page links for over 4,000 pages. Take for example the homepage which is showing as 188 links, but I don't understand this because I've used SEO tools to display the links and I am showing around 90 links on this page. How can I see what all the links are? Thanks

Web Page Refresh
Hi there, we redesign our Website, changing it for a jquery based version. This new design is much more usable and nice for our users, however the average page views for user decreased a lot. Basically this is due to the fact that once the user is logged in, it spends most of the time in the same Web form which is updated through jquery without refreshing it. We were thinking about adding a meta refresh tag, or ad some javascript for getting this task done in order to get the relation page views/visitor increased. Do you think refreshing the page every 4 minutes could be penalized by Google (or other Search engines) ? Which should be the interval between refresh ? Would it be better to make it very explicit (i.e. adding a meta refresh tag) or using a kind of hide javascript ? We want to increase the pageviews but of course, we don't want to get penalized

Creating New Pages Versus Improving Existing Pages
What are some things to consider or things to evaluate when deciding whether you should focus resources on creating new pages (to cover more related topics) versus improving existing pages (adding more useful information, etc.)?
