Our website uses adaptive design, that send either to mobile or tablet. Do we need to consider Phablets for new designs?

Do we need to start considering designing specifically for Phablets?

Thanks for the responses. I'll be analyzing the traffic that we get from the different devices. The site is not responsive design; because of the size and nature of the content, we had to go for adaptive design. Right now we have javascript that detects the user agents and deliver the appropriate CSS formatting. I am wondering if Phablets (specially iphone 6plus) will behave more like tablets, or like a smartphones.

I came across this post about the "Responsive Design View" feature in Firefox.
http://sridharkatakam.com/responsive-design-view-presets-firefox-web-development/
Thanks to the new iPhone 6 and 6 plus there are now 4 more views for mobile devices! This post takes you through using the tool and adding the iPhone 6 resolutions. As Mobile continues to grow designing specifically for a good mobile user experience gains importance. I think this tool is pretty cool and was surprised by some of the results on my site.
Hope it helps!

Design for what is important to your company, first. Are you getting a large portion of traffic through a new device? That may warrant putting resources into the design for that specific device.
If not, then do not worry about it so much. Monitor the performance and traffic from those devices and adjust as necessary.
If you want to position yourself as proactive, rather than reactive, then begin to consider a truly responsive design (fluid). This way your working towards a site that looks good at all device dimensions. Even still, when a specific device takes priority (largest portion of traffic), there should be resources put into the UI/UX for that specific device.

Depends, most sites using responsive or adaptive design work fine on the design for tablets mostly. Maybe in the future when there really is a huge market for these you want to adapt to them.

I believe that design has more to do with size of the device, if you consider investing on responsive design, you probably didn’t really have to worry about what hardware it is!
Hope this helps!

Ranking drop after new website
Hi there, I have a new client who has just had a new website built (by someone else). It was quite a major change as it was 12 years old and has just been moved to Wordpress. However although they are by and large happy with the new site, they have lost a lot of their rankings in Google. The content and menu structure is apparently identical. I told them I didn't think this was unusual but I'm not sure how easy it will be to get them ranking again. Where are they likely to be starting from? Is it a case of starting from the beginning or will there be some residual ranking capability left over? Or can they expect a full recovery over time? I was going to start by looking to see if things like tagging and meta data has been filled in (I will add the site to my Moz account) but is there any way of comparing the old site with the new for SEO purposes? Thanks so much, Sarah.

Subdomain to sub-directory migration: New subdirectory not yet indexed
Hi all, We have recently migrated a sub-domain to sub-directory to claim it's traffic in our website. Like demo.website.com to website.com/demo. We have also set a redirect for same which is working fine; but still old subdomain is showing in google search results and new directory haven't been indexed. We have submitted the new sub-directory in search console multiple times and it got partially indexed as per the status. We have allowed crawlers. Thanks

Which woocommerce product filter plugin should I use?
Hi! I have to choose a premium woocommerce product filter plugin, but I can't make up my mind since there are so many options out there. I tried to compare some of them, but I would like to hear from experts or people who already bought and run one of them on their websites in order to focus on the better one. Is there a particular plugin which stands out from the crowd? Are there product filter plugins you definitely do not recommend buying? What I am looking for is a SEO oriented plugin( some search results by filters like sizes, colors, in stock /out of stock should not be indexed at all while categories should be normally indexed), easy to use (I am not a developer and I have to be able to set up filters by myself easily), compatible with wpml and and, last but not least, the plugin support should be reliable and helpful. I am looking forward to your suggestions. thanks in advance

Moving to new site. Should I take old blog posts with me?
Our company website has needed a complete overhaul for some time now and the new one is almost ready to go live. We also have a separate "news" site that is houses around 800 blog posts and news items. (That news site will be thrown away because it's on a completely different domain and causes confusion.) So we have a main site with about 100 decent blog posts and a separate news site with 800 poor posts. I plan on bringing all the main site blog posts over to the new site (both WordPress), but my question is whether or not to bring over the news site posts? All, handful, none? Another issue is the news site doesn't have Google Analytics, so I'm not sure if any posts actually generate traffic, but I can from the main site we do get some referrals from it. As far as quality of content goes, it's poor. Not sure who wrote it all, but it's mainly text press releases that aren't very interesting. Is it worth bringing over for SEO purposes or simply delete the site and create a mass redirect so all of those pages will direct to the new website's blog page? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are jobsite themes harder to optimize than say a traditional website?
Until recently I have enjoyed a great deal of success with SEO on my websites and clients websites. SEO is more of a hobby than a profession for me however I am really struggling with my latest website www.securityjobsuk.co.uk - The keywords are easy, 1. security jobs and 2. security vacancies. The site has vanished off radar completely since I used the jobify theme. Has anyone had similar experience with job boards? Do they require more TLC / expert attention?

Is it better to redirect a url or set up a landing page for a new site?
Hi, One of our clients has got a new website but is still getting quite a lot of traffic to her old site which has a page authority of 30 on the home page and has about 20 external backlinks. It's on a different hosting package so a different C block but I was wondering if anyone could advise if it would be better to simply redirect this page to the new site or set up a landing page on this domain simply saying "Site has moved, you can now find us here..." sort of idea. Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks

Mobile sites! Any advice or suggestions for building one?
Hello Mozland, I'm looking to have a mobile site built. We have a fair amount of traffic coming from smart phones, tablets etc and want to capture this traffic better. Do you have any advice on how to have it built properly, if/how it can be optimised, what good features to include, or anything else you think might be of help? Many thanks Martin
