.htaccess yikes!

Hi guys,
Having a bit of trouble getting a htaccess redirect working. It's very easy but I am making a small typo somewhere!
I want to redirect about 400 product pages located at;
http://domain.com/product/product-name
to
http://domain.com/product-name
..basically just dropping /product/
Any help would be appreciated as my errors in Moz are all over the place!

Looks the good, thanks for all your help.

mod_rewrite and RedirectMatch are two different ways of doing a 301 redirect - both are fine. You can have both inside a htaccess file, however you may want to place the RedirectMatch directive outside of the call for the mod_rewrite module so after

Thanks for this, appears to work fine!
Is it ok sitting at the end?
BEGIN WordPress
<ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
RedirectMatch 301 ^/product/(.*)$ http://cdkeyprices.com/$1</ifmodule>END WordPress
#php_flag display_startup_errors on
#php_flag display_errors on
#php_flag html_errors on
#php_value docref_root 0
#php_value docref_ext 0 -
You could use the following RedirectMatch directive in your htaccess file obviously swapping in your actual domain -
RedirectMatch 301 ^/product/(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1
-
I'm sure you don't want to rewrite all the pages 1 at a time, try the following to rewrite the entire folder.
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.)product
RewriteRule ^(.)$ product/$1 [L] -
Hello MrPenguin,
Your code should look similar to this:
Redirect 301 /product/product-name http://domain.com/product-name

Need Help writing 301 redirects in .htaccess file
SEOmoz tool shows me 2 errors for duplicate content pages (www.abc.com and www.abc.com/index.html). I believe, the solution to this is writing 301 redirects I need two 301 redirects 1. abc.com to www.abc.com 2. /index.html to / (which is www.abc.com/index.html to www.abc.com) The code that I currently have is ................................................... RewriteEngine On

My .htaccess has changed, what do i do to avoid it again...?
Hello Today i notice that our site did not auto changed from without www to with, when i checked the .htaccess file i notice # in-front of each line and i know we did not insert it in there, after i removed it it worked fine. The only changes that we did recently was to a mobile version to the site but the call to autodirect is in a JS and not in the .htaccess, could it be the server..? is there any way that anything else might cause this...? The site is HTML and WP could it be because of that...? Thank's Simo

Htaccess issue
I have some urls in my site due to a rating counter. These are like: domain.com/?score=4&rew=25
Technical SEO | | sesertin
domain.com/?score=1&rew=28
domain.com/?score=5&rew=95 These are all duplicate content to my homepage and I want to 301 redirect them there. I tried so far: RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z]score[a-z] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /.score. http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /^score$.* http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /.^score$.* http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z]score[a-z] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 score http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[.]score[.] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[.]score[.] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z,0-9]score[a-z,0-9] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z,0-9,=,&]score[a-z,0-9,=,&] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z,0-9,=&?/.]score[a-z,0-9,=&] http://domain.com None of them works. Anybody? Solution? Would be very much appriciated0 -
Redirects on Window Servers - .htaccess equivalent for IIS
I am going to start searching myself, but I have a client on a Windows server needing to do redirects. So besides my usual 'Get a UNIX box', I need to know how to do redirects on IIS. Full site redirect: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^[site].com [NC] RewriteRule (.*) http://www.[site]/$1 [L,R=301] as well as page level redirects redirect 301 /[old-page.php] http://www.[site].com/[new-page] And that leads me to the question of RewiteRules also? RewriteRule ^[requested-page].html [server-fed-page].php [L] Thanks if anyone can [redirect] me to a good URL for these. 🙂 Richard
