Different links to ultimately the same page on Magento
-
Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if some of you could help me out a bit here as I'm a bit consfused.
If you please take a quick look at my site: https://tesorotiles.co.uk
the way it's setup is that you can get to the same page via 3 or 4 different routes as below:
https://tesorotiles.co.uk/type/wall-tiles/rho
https://tesorotiles.co.uk/by-area/bathroom-tiles/rho
https://tesorotiles.co.uk/collections/rho
These 3 are the exact same page and we've done it this way to make sure there is no break in the breadcrumb. Is this ok SEO wise or anyone have any recommendation.
Thanks in advance

It looks like the url's being shown are unique categories. I don't know if switching to a flat url structure will help, or just change the url-ref (rho-1..).
I think Magento (at least community) needs a better canonical handler than what is built in, I find that Ultimate Seo from Mageworx takes care of most of these issues including ones caused by pagination and layered navigation. If these are unique Categories, then unique content should be created or you will need to overwrite the default magento canonical's with a module and point to one Rho category.
You might also want to consider making 'Collections' apart of your layered navigation instead of creating unique categories for each shopping style

I encounter this on my site all the time. Because of the limitations of the platform we are using we had to create a lot of duplicate pages in order to have the same subcategory in different category options.
The effect this has on SEO is a bit tricky. In my opinion it is very harmful because I am diluting the value of the traffic that comes to the site. I am taking 100% of traffic and exponentially decreasing it as different people go down different paths. Aside from that, the more clicks it takes someone to get to a particular product, the better chance you have of losing that customer. Every click is an opportunity for them to leave your site.
I have been fixing this problem on my site by redirecting duplicate pages and eliminating the multiple paths. Since doing that, my page values have increased and I am seeing less of a bounce rate. A slightly higher conversion rate as well. It sounds like you have one product that falls into multiple categories. If that works for you as far as how easy it is to find that particular product, I wouldn't change anything. If you want to see an increase in PR, conversions and traffic I would recommend eliminating some of the pages.

A flat URL structure would be ideal, meaning .com/rho instead of adding in leves of categories/subcategories/filters. You should be able to make the URLs flat while still keeping the full breadcrumb structure of how the customer's navigated - I know it's possible because we run Magento Enterprise and have done it.

Our protected pages 302 redirect to a login page if not a member. Is that a problem for SEO?
We have a membership site that has links out in our unprotected pages. If a non-member clicks on these links it sends a 302 redirect to the login / join page. Is this an issue for SEO? Thanks!

Will unused/dead pages within my site that is non-linked hurt my seo?
For example my website has mysite.com/randomunusedpage.html No links go into that page from the website but it is published (came with the WP theme). Will that hurt my SEO and should I delete the page or is it harmless? Thanks

Linking to CMS page ID
Hi all, Is it that detrimental to SEO if you link to the CMS page ID of a URL rather than the text URL of a page even if when you look at the source code Google sees it as a text URL? Thanks! 🙂

Page titles in browser not matching WP page title
I have an issue with a few page titles not matching the title I have In WordPress. I have 2 pages, blog & creative gallery, that show the homepage title, which is causing duplicate title errors. This has been going on for 5 weeks, so its not an a crawl issue. Any ideas what could cause this? To clarify, I have the page title set in WP, and I checked "Disable PSP title format on this page/post:"...but this page is still showing the homepage title. Is there an additional title setting for a page in WP?

302 redirect and NO DATA as HTTP Status in Top Pages in SEOMOZ Link Analysis
I recently performed a link analysis using SEOMOZ and my home page (top page) indicates that there is a 302 status. Is this bad? Also, 2 other key landing pages have [NO STATUS] as the http status and [NO DATA] for the page title. Could anyone offer insight into what might be happening here, and whether or not it's something that is potentially hurting us? Thanks for your help!

132 pages reported as having Duplicate Page Content but I'm not sure where to go to fix the problems?
I am seeing “Duplicate Page Content” coming up in our
Technical SEO | | danatanseo
reports on SEOMOZ.org Here’s an example: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/williams-sound-ppa-r35-e http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/aphex-230-master-voice-channel-processor http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/AT-AE4100.prod These three pages are for completely unrelated products.
They are returning “200” status codes, but are being identified as having
duplicate page content. It appears these are all going to the home page, but it’s
an odd version of the home page because there’s no title. I would understand if these pages 301-redirected to the home page if they were obsolete products, but it's not a 301-redirect. The referring page is
listed as: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/category/cd-duplicators None of the 3 links in question appear anywhere on that page. It's puzzling. We have 132 of these. Can anyone help me figure out
why this is happening and how best to fix it? Thanks!0 -
Specific Link Page in Domain
Hi everyone: I have seen that many SEO Agencies have contacted my business (Also SEO but In- House) in order to interchange links. They have created a specific page on their site with the Label "Links" or similar, and on that page they add multiple links of the competence. I have heard that you can only do that if you make sure you add two things: No follow in links. Not inserting links of websites that have nothing to do with our sector. Either way, I have never found this amusing. I always recommend people not to do this but I have my doubts after all. ¿Could some one give me their opinion? Cheers !
