as you said, there is no benefit or nearly zero benefit. It would look much better if you had a .com level domain rather than using a subdomain.

The domain authority you are viewing is the one of blogspot.com and not your subdomain.

Unfortunately you can't expect high rankings just because you are using a subdomain from blogspot, although in some cases you maybe benefited in non-competitive keywords.

In your case, you should not expect much from a subdomain of this kind.

Wrong sitelinks (from the old homepage on the domain)

Hi there, I am quite a novice when it comes to SEO. So you'll have to forgive me if the questions has already been asked by someone before me. The question is about site links in google. Google does generate som sitelinks, but some of the are seemingly generated on the basis of the old homepage. All the sitelinks corresponds to menu items, but two of those items exist only in the homepage on the domain. The fact that the SERP entry is not exactly as we wanted it to be is not strange at alle. We have yet to write in a propper metadescription, and optimize for the right keywords. Because that, I gather from my research, has a great role to play for googles decisions about which lins to use as sitelinks. But I do not understand why google decides to use link names on a page that is no longer there as sitelinks on a new page without those link names. I would like to understand this before experimenting with keywords and metadescriptions. I will appreciate an explanation as well as any advice on the relation been keywords and metadescritions. 301 domain name to another site

I had 2 websites. I decided not to maintain one of them and set it to 301 to my main website. However, i see people getting 404 errors when they land on my main website but with a page name from the old site. How can I set things so that anyone who tries to go to the old site goes to my homepage of my main site? http://siteA.com http://oldsiteB.com/oldpagename sends them to http://siteA.com//oldpagename = 404 - I want them to go directly to homepage on siteA.

Redirect if old browser or OS to other domain?

Hi, I use cloudflare free SSL option. All is fine except it wont work with windows XP . How do you think is it ok in case of old OS/Browser redirect visitors to other domain or subdomain? What could be impacts or consequences of such step? On the moment if page meko.lv is accessed from XP sp1,2 there is error. If it is possible how could such redirect look? Thanks

Should I be concerned about Google indexing an old domain if the listings redirect to the new domain?

I noticed this about Moz's old domain SEOMoz.org. If the URLs from the old domain are redirecting, is there any reason to be concerned about an old domain still appearing to be indexed by Google? Is this anything to be concerned about or is everything operating as expected?

Moving content between two separate domains...

Hello I am looking for advice regarding moving content from one site to another. We have two websites: Site 1: E-commerce site, with content weaved in throughout the visitor journey.
Site 2: Blog-style site, used to archive magazine (which we own) articles online. Both sites exist on completely separate domains. Over time, Site 2 has received a lot less attention due to a change in our business objectives. As a result of this, this site is not as up-to-date as it could be and we're now starting to think about winding the brand down. However, some of the content (mostly feature-pieces, reviews etc) on Site 2 is really good and it would be a shame to just see such high quality stuff disappear into the ether. Ideally, we would like migrate some of the content on Site 2 to Site 1. The reasons for this are mostly to improve things from a visitor perspective, but also to gain any positive SEO points from adding such pieces to our main domain. I've had a look through and a lot of the articles from Site 2 are indexed. Is it going to be a case of selecting the pieces I want and then adding a 301s to those pages so they're no longer found/visable before re-publishing them on Site 1? Sorry if this is a bit of silly question, just wanted some advice to ensure I go about it the right way. Thanks!

Redirecting Domains

Hi Everybody, My clients owns a lot of domains related to his website. I redirected them to the website. So his website is: www.vallnord.com but if you type Vallnordski, vallnordsnow, etc etc they will go to the website, but they will not change the url and will keep vallnordski, vallnordsnow instead of going to vallnord.com Not very clear actually, so if you have 20 seconds to type them you will see it very clear. I was wondering if this was a good practice or it is better to actually redirect someone completely (If they type vallnordski.com take them to vallnord.com)? Is redirecting a good SEO practice? Redirecting root domains to sub domains

Mozzers: We have a instance where a client is looking to 301 a www.example.com to www.example.com/shop I know of several issues with this but wondered if anyone could chip in with any previous experiences of doing so, and what outcomes positive and negative came out of this. Issues I'm aware of: The root domain URL is the most linked page, a HTTP 301 redirect only passes about 90% of the value. you'll loose 10-15% of your link value of these links. navigational queries (i.e.: the "domain part" of "domain.tld") are less likely to produce google site-links less deep-crawling: google crawls top down - starts with the most linked page, which will most likely be your domain url. as this does not exist you waste this zero level of crawling depth. robots.txt is only allowed on the root of the domain. Your help as always is greatly appreciated. Sean
