Looking for help with my website
-
Hi does any one know of a good seo company that will get results, i.e., fix site issues and get the site improving in the serps.
-
you're off on a tangent here....let's not do that...my comments referred to the 'why' not the cause....
go to the 'recommended' list and pick a few to vet....then get a deal and they will undoubtedly do that complete web audit first to see where you are and why...
all else is rhetoric here....time to get the tasks started, eh!

Hi. So do mean that my site is coming up in Google.ca as a link farm.. what does this mean.. Please can you provide more info.
we are based in the UK.

Hi guys, sorry confused, what is g.ca
(Just curious how you think Pigeon affected a wedding directory site?) not sure what you mean here.

Just curious how you think Pigeon affected a wedding directory site?
-
You do know that the Pigeon updates back last summer were just rolled out in other google farms too, right?
So if you're looking say at rankings via g.ca - that might be the culprit....

Thanks BCutrer,
The disavow was done last year, and is updated. We did not see much upturn with the latest updates.
We have not done any link building for years (may be this can be a problem)
The above link was done over two years ago by bad seo company, this is why we are looking for some help
-
The disavow can take some time and may not see results until the next refresh of the algorithm that was causing the issue. We had a number of clients that came to us with a drop in traffic and rankings over the last year. We did extensive back link removal and disavowing. We saw some limited improvements but it wasn't until the November refresh that all of them "got out of jail" and returned to the first page for their keywords.
My other thought for you is that while you said you disavowed bad links, I ran your site through ahrefs and it's showing a large spike of new back links over the last month. Most of them are pretty spammy looking. http://authority-domain.com/computers_and_internet/calendar/society/dating_relationships/?p=8
If you are already dealing with a bad link profile I'd stay clear from directory link building.

Hi BCutrer, Thanks for your question, well is has been a long ongoing problem with the site, drop in traffic, then an upturn and recently another drop. So not sure if it is a technical issues or a penalty. We have not receive a manual webspam, but was told to disavow bad links which we did, but still no upturn in traffic from Google, bing or yahoo.
So looking to see if anyone has used a firm that can analyse issues to see exactly why the sites performance has dropped.. A clear understanding of why sites performance drops and not guess work.
-
You might want to elaborate on the type of issue. Is it a penalty or has it been affected by a recent change in Google's algorithm?
-
Thanks Pixelbypixel. I was wondering if anyone has had website/seo issues and could recommend a company that really help them.

Did you try Moz's list of recommended companies ? They are all very good and should fit your needs.

Website Not Performing after switch to HTTPS
We recently switched our client's website to HTTPS but after the move, we've experienced a huge decrease in rankings (off the map), and traffic. Our metas for the homepage are not being picked up by Google, although it was appearing correctly before the switch. We've implemented all redirects, resubmitted URL to Google, and updated GSC. GSC is also reporting errors in our XML stating there are no URLs to crawl. Has anyone had any issues similar? What do you all recommend? Help greatly appreciated

Problem with Google finding our website
We have an issue with Google finding our website: (URL removed) When we google "(keyword removed)" in google.com.au, our website doesn't come up anywhere. This is despite inserting the suitable title tag and onsite copy for SEO. We found this strange, and thought we'd investigate further. We decided to just google the website URL in google.com.au, to see if it was being properly found. Our site appeared at the top but with this description: A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more. We also can see that the incorrect title tag is appearing. From this, we assumed that there must be an issue with the robot.txt file. We decided to put a new robot.txt file up: (URL removed) This hasn't solved the problem though and we still have the same issue. If someone could get to the bottom of this for us, we would be most appreciative. We are thinking that there may possibly be another robot.txt file that we can't find that is causing issues, or something else we're not sure of! We want to get to the bottom of it so that the site can be appropriately found. Any help here would be most appreciated!

Mobile website on a different URL address?
My client has an old eCommerce website that is ranking high in Google. The website is not responsive for mobile devices. The client wants to create a responsive design mobile version of the website and put it on a different URL address. There would be a link on the current page pointing to the external mobile website. Is this approach ok or not? The reason why the client does not want to change the design of the current website is because he does not have the budget to do so and there are a lot of pages that would need to be moved to the new design. Any advice would be appreciated.

Website not coming up properly on Google
Hello, our website (http://www.roguevalleymicro.com/index.php) is not coming up properly on Google search (for example, when you search for Rogue Valley Microdevices on Google). We believe that there is something wrong with the website source code, and Google cannot index it properly. However, your Crawl Test results did not indicate any such problems. Can someone help us with some advice please?

We're currently not using schemas on our website. How important is it? And are websites across the globe using it?
Schemas looks like an important thing when it comes to structuring your website and ensuring the crawl bots get all the details. I've been reading a lot of articles around the web and most of them are saying that schemas are important but very few websites are using it. Why so? Are the schemas on schema.org there to stay or am I wasting my time?

Please, help me to understand these Google results
Hello here, I am eager to know your thoughts on this. If I search on Google for "fur elise violin sheet music", we are on the second page for our sheet music title of "Fur Elise for violin and piano" (look for "virtualsheetmusic.com"). Ok, that's not very good and I still have an hard time to figure out why there are many crappy and NOT really related websites listed before us, but here is the best (weird) part... .... search now for "fur elise violin and piano sheet music" which should narrow the query further down and so increase the chances for us to get on the first page results... and in fact we are on the first page with that query, but for a different page and a different music for a different instrument! If you scroll the first page of the results, you will find our site at the end of the 1st page for our version of "Fur Elise" for "viola and piano" and not for "violin and piano"... What the heck!??! Why's that??? Doesn't make any sense too me... why if the user search for "fur elise violin and piano" Google shows "Fur Elise for viola and piano"???!! I would really appreciate any thoughts on all this. Thank you in advance!

Corporate pages and SEO help
We own and operate more than two dozen educational related sites. The business team is attempting to standardize some parts of our site hierarchy so that our sitemap.php, about.php, privacy.php and contact.php are all at the root directory. Our sitemap.php is generated by our sitemap.xml files, which are generated from our URLlist.txt files. I need to provide some feedback on this initiative. I'm worried about adding more stand-alone pages to our root directory and as part of a separate optimization in the future I was planning to suggest we group the "privacy", "about" and "contact" pages in a separate folder. We generally try to put our most important pages/directories for SEO in the root as our homepages pass a lot of link juice and have high authority. We do not invest SEO time into optimizing these pages as they're not pages we're trying to rank for, and I've already been looking into even no-following all links to them from our footer, sitemap, etc. I know that adding these "corporate" pages to a site are usually a standard part of the design process but is there any SEO benefit to having them at the root? And along the same lines, is there any SEO harm to having unimportant pages at the root? What do you guys think out there in Moz land?
