What tool can I use to evaluate the domain authority of a competitor?
-
Derrick,
"Domain authority" is pretty much a term that Moz coined back around 1995 as an alternative to Google's term "pagerank". Essentially the two describe the same thing and Moz's tools evolved since then as a means to quantify the factors that make up pagerank/authority. Moz's tools are a good place to start wrapping your arms around the strength of a competitor's site as compared to yours.

Hi Derick. https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/comparisons is great for back of the envelope calculations as is the Moz toolbar. If you want to get really in-depth you'll likely want to run some full reports, export, and go through the data in a spreadsheet.
The http://moz.com/labs/link-finder Competitve Link Finder is also nice for seeing areas to gain lift that your competitors have already found.

Why is my domain not being crawled anymore?
I just noticed that right around 12/1/2012, SEOMoz stopped crawling all but two pages out of the 400 or so on my website at www.TrustworthyCare.com . I speculate that this is probably due to some dumb mistake I made at that time, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that mistake was. Before that, the weekly crawls included all 400 or so pages. I wonder whether it's something that changed in our .htaccess file. Here's how that file looks now; can anyone see what is wrong there, or perhaps offer other suggestions if it doesn't look like anything is wrong in it? Thanks! Tim PS - I'm a small business owner, not an SEO or software engineer. PPS - I found and read this page, but I've pretty much tried the things described there (I think): Can someone explain to me why OSE shows two different numbers for Linking Root Domains in the header and in the results area?
See Photo Below. 271 in the header, 500 plus in the results section. I just want an accurate number to chart my progress from here on out. Majestic numbers seem inflated too much. Google Webmaster Tools too. g58HX.png

How to Use Open Site Explorer
I've used Open Site Explorer here at SEOmoz for the first time and I'm confused by the results. I'm wondering how dated the results are? And, what are they based on? For example, I'm certain my facebook shares and like are higher...same with the twitter links. It seems kind of old?! One of my competitors who gets about 2x more traffic than me DOES have great backlinks. I know that. BUT, it's odd that her facebook and twitter results are what they are compared to mine - they're WAY higher in site explorer AND her links seem on par with her facebook page whereas mine don't. Whereas mine seem WAy Way lower than what they are in reality. She barely tweets and facebooks any more. Maybe once per month. She started out gangbusters, but doesn't do it much any more. That's kinda why I'm wondering if it's based on older stuff and not updated often? Anyone know?
