Author Tag - How do you get your Author Thumbnail on more then one site?
-
Ive managed to set up the Rel:Author tag on my wordpress site, and the thumbnail is now showing in Google search results
Each article I write on my blog has a link to me Author page, which has on it a link to my Google Plus page.
So this works great.
However I write articles for another few websites and would like to get my author thumbnail image showing for them articles too.
How do I do this? Do I need an Author page on the other sites also?
I dont think I'll be able to get an author page on the other sites, is it not possible to somehow link direct from the article to my G+ page?
How would guest articles work too?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance guys

Thanks for this.
But the post will contain 2 rel:author tags.
It will contain the one for me, as I posted it using my user login details, then it will have the guest posts rel:author tag too
Wouldnt that cause problems?

Hi John,
I've been playing around with this same issue this week. This is what I've gathered so far.
For this scenario you mentioned above - you can link it by including a BIO section somewhere on the post, preferably at the end. If the theme doesn't have a BIO function - there are plugins that will enable this.
Then after saying something about the author - at the end you can include something similar to:
You can also connect with the Author at Google+
That's my profile. And then very importantly - on the Google+ profile - under the section - "Contributor to these sites" - include the URL to the blog in question. This way Google can correlate back, to link the two.
Thanks!

Thanks guys, appreciate your help.
I am wondering now if there is an easy way to give guest authors the rel:author attribute and links etc in say the bottom of their articles.
Is there a wordpress plugin that does this?
So for example, as the admin to the site, I upload the guest authors article, but then I somehow attribute it to them with all the rel:author tags and links options.
Any ideas?

Yes - that is correct.
rel author is mandatory right now.
However in the future things might change but for now it should contain the rel author tag.
(right now there are a few implementation without rel author and it's working fine but it dosen't hurt to place it for now)

Hi John,
Eyepaq has already covered your question, but I figured i'd drop these links in as it covers rel=author in detail.

Some sites won't allow rel=author within their links, but Google is becoming better at attributing authors regardless of the rel=author tag.
Example: https://www.google.co.uk/search?&q=Avoid+duplicate+content+penalties+and+improve+SEO
This post links to my G+ account but has no author tag.

wow I never knew that just linking my article to my Google+ page would make the thumbnail appear in Google.
I am presuming having the rel:author tag is required on the article page too, and not just a link to my G+ page?

Hi,
How do I do this? Do I need an Author page on the other sites also?
** You can - but it's not mandatory.
I dont think I'll be able to get an author page on the other sites, is it not possible to somehow link direct from the article to my G+ page?
** Yes. You can and should link the author tag directly from the post to your Google plus profile.
How would guest articles work too?
** The same as above. Link directly to your G+ profile.
One important (crucial) thing to do si to also set in your g+ profile that you are contributor to x,y,z sites (list those there - including the ones you guest writing for) .
Hope it helps.

Is my site being penalized?
I've gone through all the points on https://moz.com/blog/technical-site-audit-for-2015 but the site only ranks for its brand name after months. The website is not ranking in the top 100 for any main keywords (2,3,4 word phrases), only for a handful of very long phrases (4+). All of the content is unique, all pages are indexed, the website is fast and doesn't contain any crawl errors and there are a couple of links pointing to it. There is a sitewide follow link in the footer pointing to another domain, its parent company and vice-versa. This is not done for any SEO reasons but the companies are related and also the products are supplementary of each other. Could this be an issue? Or is my site being penalized by something else?

Should the Title Tag and the H1 Tag not be the same or not anymore and can that be classed as over optimization?
Hi All, I am just evaluating my title tags, H1,H2's etc and wondered in light of the google algorithm changes over the last 12 months , we should look at more diversity as opposed to things possibly looking over optimized... Originally (18 months ago) my Title tags considered of 2/3 keyword phrases , then I reduced this to my keyword phrase | Brand Name but a majority of my H1's and H2's had the same keyword phrases. Historically this has served us very well and rankings for good but over the last 12 months, we were hit by panda, hummingbird etc...and which we are trying to recover from and from what I have read, the rules have changed with regards to good seo./ over optimized SEO. We have been writting unique content , making more of our links branded etc to sort things out from that perspective but on the page stuff is just as important so I would like to get this right. I am now thinking , that I may be getting penalized if my H1 and title's , H2 are the same ? and that they should be obviously related but different. H2's again , need to be related but not the same as either of the above. Is that how things should be these days ? from what I have read about this, most of the articles are not that recent so I don't what to do what is now redundant advice Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Pete

Can literally any site get 'burned'?
Just curious what people think. The SEOMOZ trust on my site has gone up, all while Google is dropping us in rankings for lots of keywords. Just curious if this can happen to anyone or once you are 100% 'trusted' you're good. We went from 120,000 page views down to about 50,000. All while doubling content, improving the design(at least from a user perspective), and getting more natural links. Seems counter intuitive to Google's mantra of ranking quality. I would guess 'authority' sites never get hit by these updates right? So when you make it you've made it.(at least from a dropping like a rock perspective, obviously you have to keep working). I'm guessing we just need a bunch more quality links but would hate to work on building links, quality content, trust etc for it to be something so finicky long term.

Redirection to mobile site
Calling all SEO ninjas! I'm currently developing single web pages for various clients which function as abbreviated versions of their main websites. They are all related & under a single domain. When a user visits these pages on a mobile device, CSS is used to display mobile friendly versions of these pages. My clients are thrilled with these mobile versions and now want to also redirect mobile visitors from their main site (which is not mobile optimised) to these pages. My questions are: Are there any negative implications if we did this? ie. redirecting to a different domain What is the best method for redirection? eg. JavaScript Can this be achieved by adding a single line of code to their main site Can this be done in an SEO friendly way so that the redirection acts like a backlink? Many thanks.

Redirect micro-niche site to bigger niche site?
I have a micro niche site that performs reasonably well (page 1 at least) for it's main keywords. It is an exact match domain. To save the ongoing maintenance of a site that gets less than 10 visitors a day, I was thinking of redirecting this micro niche site to a bigger site (a niche site that the micro niche fits into, if that makes sense!) Would I lose rankings because of the power that the EMD provided? Would it be better keeping it there for the backlink it provides to the bigger site (although on the same C Class IP)

Can this site be optimised?
I have been told that because of the technology this site was developed with it cannot be changed for example urls title and meta tags cannot be changed. why is that and what other types of sites also cannot be changed. http://www.alliedpickfords.com/Pages/Landing.aspx For example i have been told alot of online stores cannot be optimised because the urls change every time some one goes to the page therefor you cant lionk to a certain page is that true and what is the way around it if any.
