Started using a 3rd Party Review Company for our Website. Do we need to show the reviews or is a widget (badge) with a link back to review company sufficient enough from an SEO ranking point of view?
-
Hi All,
We have started to use a 3rd party review company and now have the choice of either implementing their re-supplied widgets (Java ) on our site showing customer reviews or use their an API to get this information.
-
The widgets (Java) , would be loaded once the page is actually loaded so I am not sure how and if google will read this information if at all? If we use a widget then we won't be able to implement it with Schema.org although we will be able to use rich snippets to it will appear on any PPC (once we have had 30 reviews). If we go down the API route, it's more expensive for us but we can use the review schema.org for this. Does anyone have any experience of what works best for them ?..

We have a choice of having a widget showing latest reviews or just a badge (which is actually a link to the review site showing our reviews). From an SEO point of view, is one better than the other ? Does google actually read the content of the review or is the link back to the 3rd party review company sufficient enough to help with rankings etc.
-
Am I correct in assuming that by linking to a 3rd party review company and showing our reviews on our site , this will help with rankings as even though the content in the reviews doesn't really say much ,. I did see it was a ranking factor on the survey but not sure how google uses this. ?
I've read up some information on reviews etc but wondered what the general consensus was with what others found works best for them
Any help greatly appreciated

We use Shopper Approved and they provide a couple types of code that will do this for you.
*** They provide code for several badges and widgets that allow us to display recent reviews and summary reviews on our website.
*** They provide code that grabs our ratings from a Shopper Approved server and displays them on our website in search engine readable format.
*** They also provide schema code that causes our ratings to appear as stars beside our listings in the organic SERPs.
For SEO purposes here are my opinions....
** I do not believe that Google reads the content of the customer reviews in the widget.
** I do not believe that linking to Shopper Approved through the widget or through the badge is helpful.
** I believe that having mentions and links on the Shopper Approved site is helpful, however, they generate enormous numbers of review pages that I can see in my webmaster tools account. Generally, I would say that getting this many links on thin content cookie-cutter pages is dangerous, as it looks like manufactured links, but I am assuming that Google realizes that these are reviews and will not count them as negative as they are nofollowed.
** Links to your sites in the Shopper Approved directory might be slightly helpful.
** I believe that having lots of good rating, such as four or five stars, confirmed by a review site, might be helpful.
** I believe that having four or five stars, out of a possible five, appearing in the organic SERPs will help your clickthrough rate, which could help your rankings.
Our sales seem to be up a tiny amount since starting to use Shopper Approved. Our rankings have always been good, so I can't say that we have received any measurable SEO benefit.
Our motivation for getting a review service was: 1) an easy method for collecting reviews, 2) an easy method for getting customer feedback on purchases, 3) an easy way to display reviews from TODAY's customers on our website, 4) use of the badge as a 'trust mark', and, 5) a way to use schema to get stars in the organic SERPs.
These are opinions only, nothing scientific.

Can I use two feeds for Products Reviews Stars
My client has two sources of reviews - productsreview.com.au and judgeme.com - both have about 30 reviews each and we would like to combine these to get to the required 50 (so that they both show on the product ratings feed). I cannot find any information on this so would be grateful for some guidance - thank you!

Review Schema Dropped Off A Cliff!?
Hello everyone, I recently implemented some review schema for my website which looked to be successful as my review stars were appearing in organic rankings with no problem! Yay! However... I've just checked in on where we are with these and they have literally dropped off a cliff and I have no idea why. See image attached with the graph that shows our reviews looking great in July/August then dropping off w/c 26th August. I literally have no idea why this has happened. The Schema Markup Tool shows no errors or issues with the markup either. Can anyone advise? 81Rv88Y

BazaarVoice Paginated Reviews Not Honoring Canonical & Indexing Multiple Pages
If there are enough reviews on a product page to warrant page 2, 3 etc, BazaarVoice appends the below snippets to each new page of reviews, which are then also indexed, despite BazaarVoice SEO settings that automate a canonical tag (seemingly since the differing reviews on each page are not similar enough to honor the canonical). <cite class="iUh30">?bvstate=pg:2/ct:r</cite> <cite class="iUh30">?bvstate=pg:3/ct:r</cite> It seems Target.com has found a way to hack the BV code to create a dedicated page to view all reviews: https://www.target.com/p/ultra-soft-fitted-sheet-300-thread-count-threshold-153/-/A-13973172?showOnlyReview=true While Ikea.com blocks it in the Robots file (defeats SEO value) - Noindex: */catalog/products/bvroute=Review Noindex: */catalog/products/bvtab Tons of brands apparently have the issue, and you can see more examples if you search "inurl:bvstate=pg" Anyone aware of a solution to this?

What is the best online reputation management software for generating legitimate Google (and other online) reviews?
Hello! Does anyone have a good experience with using an online reputation management tool to help generate online reviews for a Google My Business listing, Facebook, etc? The reason I ask about a review software is because of my client's age demographic (50+), so we need to have an automated system to request reviews from their clients and to make it simple for them to leave reviews.

3rd Party Approved Reviews - Widget or API Feed - Any thoughts ?
Hi Mozzers, We use a google approved 3rd party review company to collect reviews for our branches and now also for our products( this is about to be implemented). We currently use one of their widgets on our site (its javascript) to show the reviews. I don't think google can read this and I don't think we currently, therefore, get any direct seo benefit from it. My questions are as follows : I obviously want to get any SEO benefit from any review text which customers leave but as the data itself is housed on the review site with a widget on my site pointing to it,should I use an API feed as opposed to a widget. If google can read the review text on my page - then surely i should some benefit from it even though, it could technically be classed as duplicate content what are peoples thoughts ? . thanks Pete

HomeTesterClub Ranking
Some of our searches are coming on the first page at Google, which is great (these are New Product Watch pages https://hometesterclub.com/au/en/Products/ ) https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Kettle+Popcorn+Salted+Caramel+review https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Coca-Cola+Ginger+review https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Herbert+Adams+review .. and yet some (particularly Home Tested Section https://hometesterclub.com/au/en/HomeTested/ ) have very poor results, ie no where to be found: https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=hydralyte+sports+review https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Rafferty%27s+Garden+review https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Purina+Beneful+Medley+review .. we are often either nowhere to be found, even if we have hundreds of reviews for these products… and seem to be often beaten to the punch by the likes of: www.productreview.com.au / www.influenster.com / www.mouthsofmums.com.au do you think that these other sites just have more sites linking to them, and so stronger natural page ranking? Any insight would be helpful..

Bing Local Lists Yelp Reviews From Another Business At Shared Address
Hi everyone, I am having a problem with Bing local listings and am hoping someone might be able to help me out. Basically I am working with a business that shares an address with another (separate legal entities, different owners, different phone, different domain). Both are bathroom remodelers, but one uses the space as a storefront/showroom, the other is strictly a service area business and uses the space for storage/office space (this is the one I am working with). I have claimed their listing on bing local and set it to hide the address. The problem I am having is that for whatever reason, Bing local is associating the yelp page of business 1 (showroom) with business 2 (business 2 is not currently on yelp). My question: what options do I have to remedy this? Is there a way to request a manual review of sorts to have this fixed? Would it be sufficient to create/verify a yelp page for business 2 and hope that Bing picks up on this?
