I am using Yoast Wordpress SEO plugin on my site. Is it good enough?
-
What does other members and Moz think about using Yoast Wordpress SEO plugin? Are there better alternative?
-
Ah then, that's a bigger question.
You're using an excellent tool, Yoast. Stick with it. It could be it isn't configured properly, you're in a highly competitive market, or there are other issues getting in the way of your advancement.
After a quick look at your site, three things jump out: structure, speed and links.
(1) Your site structure is extremely flat, meaning your link equity is getting disbursed across almost every page on the site. You should aim for a short, fat pyramid structure with top level pages being your most important. You're also inconsistenly using www and non-www links internally to the site. That's contributing to the next problem and diluting your link equity because of unnecessary redirects.
(2) Your site is slow. It ranks very poorly using Google's speed test. Speed is an important ranking factor these days.
(3) You seem to have a lot of questionable incoming links to the site. You might need to do a link cleanup.
I'd recommend a complete SEO audit and suggest you reference this extremely helpful post from Moz in order to understand the types of things you should be looking for.

I have been using Yoast SEO for sometime, but does not seem to get much benefit.
My site is www.analyticsindiamag.com
I believe the content is good in its niche area and has been around for sometime.
My Moz domain Authority score is 27 which I dont think is good enough. Was wondering if I am doing something not right with SEO on this site.

Agree with the others, Yoast is a robust tool that offers you the most flexibility and configuration options.
Why are you asking? Are you having a specific problem or are you just surveying the group before deciding to move forward with a specific tool?
-
Wordpress is pretty SEO friendly right out of the box. If you install Yoast and implement some of the basic recommended features, you should be relatively good to go. Put your focus on content creation before worrying too much about minor SEO details.
-
Not really. Yoast is about as good as it gets with an SEO Plugin. There are alternatives, most of which I have seen, but still they don't do as much or make it quite as easy. Ultimately, you want something that allows you to configure individual pages, but offer a level of customisation, if required - which Yoast does.

Looking for tools to benchmark an industry
Hi everyone - I'm trying to benchmark an entire industry. Given that Google seems to adjust what ranking signals should be counted more heavily based on the industry/query - I'd like to be able to benchmark a specific industry. As a silly example - let's say I want to know what ranking signals would most effect coffee shops, real estate agents, or manufacturers. Has anyone here ever found an efficient way to analyze: 1. Who the top 10 are for 5-10 keywords, in that industry 2. What they have in common (e.g. meta info, content length, ssl certs, etc.) 3. What were the differences in the higher ranking ones (domain name registration age, content quality, etc.) It seems like there has to be a way to do this given that Moz, SEM Rush, and others release yearly reports that detail which ranking signals seem to be most important. I'd just like to be able to know what the top ranking signals are for a specific industry, based off of who is ranking really well in that industry already. Thanks!

Approaches found so far:
1. Manually e.g. Mechanical Turk
2. Excel/VBA automation. Requires manual work - for instance, deciding on rules.
3. NLP, Machine Leearning, Text Classification, followed by Power BI or similar for visualization. Easily a few thousand dollars to build in 4-6 weeks.
4. Some agencies offer it as part of their services. 5. But is there a platform/tool that offers this?
Called only Semrush and they didn't know any platform/tool but may offer it in the future.
6. ....... What options am I missing? Thanks. Richard.0 -
Free proofreading tool
Does anyone use any free / open source profreading tool that not only corrects spelling, double-spacing and capital letters, but also meaning. Let's say it will tell you verb or subject is missing in the sentence. Or that a sentence doesn't make sense, such as 'Dog English he does looks well twelve'. Thanks. Katarina
