Hi Marina,
The last I heard on this (earlier this year), https wasn't supported in the Preferred Domain feature - only www or non-www. So make sure that your sitemap is submitted with https URLs, your internal links all point to https URLs, and your http version 301 redirects to your https version, and that would be sufficient.

Thank you for help!
Unfortunately these tutorials not about https domains but about regular http domains.
Anyway thanks!

Hi Andy,
My bad. I mistakenly said i'm unable to verify. I actually verified it. The thing i'm unable to do is to set preferred domain. I'm receiving this error when i select preferred domain (without www): "Part of the process of setting a preferred domain is to verify that you own http://www.youthfulhome.com/. Please verify http://www.mydomain.com/."
So i assume it treats https as different domain and doesn't see that i already verified it. Aby idea how i can set the preferred domain?
Thanks

Hi Marina,
How are you trying to verify it? Meta Tag? Upload a file? DNS / Analytics?
Are you seeing an error message when you are trying to do this? You could also check here to see if it helps answer your question.

Should you Move To HTTPS? Google Thinks So!
Just wanted to share some information that HTTPS is now a positive ranking factor. Here is an article about the fact that it can give a small boost in Rankings: http://searchengineland.com/explainer-googles-new-ssl-https-ranking-factor-works-200492 Here is also a video by Google Saying they think "every site should have a security certificate" and how to employ it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBhZ6S0PFCY People may already know about this; just thought it was important to share and couldn't find it thoroughly addressed anywhere on the site.

Anyone else want to add a webmaster tools category to Q&A?
This could be all inclusive of both Google and Bing (a la webmaster tools), or, add more specificity with two additional categories:

Tools to see how many times a domain has been bought and sold? Domain Owner History?
Hi Folks! I'm in the process of trying to buy a domain off someone who isn't really using it for much other than a single anding page for his defunct company. The current ower is putting a massively high price on the domain (five figures) which is WAY more than what any regular buyer would value it at. He claims he paid that price several years ago when he bought it. I don't believe him, and I feel he's just using that as an excuse to value his domain very highly. Does anyone know of any tools I could use to help me see how many times the domain has changed owners? I have a sneaking suspicion that he is the original owner, but I have no way to tell. It currently has privacy on it so I can't tell much by looking at whois.sc or using my subscription to whorush.com. Any one have any other ideas for me?

Keep www in the domain or not?
I have a client who had a wordpress website built about 1.5 years ago without the www in front of the domain. In May of this year client decided to have his website rebuilt. The new web designer built the site in Joomla and changed hosting company (first website hosted by Go Daddy) the new web designer built the new site with the www in front of the domain. He put redirects from the old to the new. Client wants to go back to wordpress design. My question is: do we keep the www as the new site has this or revert back to the domain without the www. (domains are the same between the new and old site, only difference is old site has no www and new site does) web designer put in redirects to go from non www site to new site with www however I don't think he did it right. New site is still getting errors and when I look in the hosting account there are 9 pages of redirects. The old and new site are not that big. The hosting company tech support was a little shocked that there were 9 pages of redirects. My question is: will client loose what momentum we've built with redirecting traffic to the www new site? We've been working hard since the new site launched to get it indexed. Thoughts? Feedback please. We are going to move back to wordpress platform but I'm not sure about this www whether we keep it or not. I just don't want to mess up any indexing that we've achieved with the new site if we revert back to the domain without the www in front of it. Thank you

Best Website satisfaction Survey Tool/Company to use
I need to do a voice of customer survey on one of our key webpages. It's basic questionnaire of why did you come here today, did you complete your task, etc. The company we were using last time Ipercetion has gone up tremendously in price and I was looking for another vendor with same attributes of easy to build survey and simple code that can be put on page easily. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Difference Between www.domain.com and www.domain.com/ ?
Hi, Of course, it is obvious that when other sites link to you, they choose how to do so in terms of the anchor text. My questions is: 1. Most of the domain names I see on the web are: www.domain.com/ however, I am pretty sure that when someone thinks you have a site that there members can benefit by they will link to: www.domain,com , am I coorect in stating that the search engines (SE) see these as two separate and distinct domains? 2. If so, are these too, then these must be different and distinct as well: www.domain.com/best-service vs. www.domain.com/best-service/ **I went on that assumption and have created 301 directs for the latter example. ** 3. How would one check to see if a 301 direct is in place? As always, I am appreciated to this site and member's skills. Jim
