Affiliate Url & duplicate content
-
Hi
i have checked passed Q&As and couldn't find anything on this so thought I would ask.
I have recently noticed my URLS adding the following to the end: mydomain.com/?fullweb=1I cant seem to locate where these URLS are coming from and how this is being created?
This is causing duplicate content on google. I wanted to know ig anyone has had any previous experience with something like this?
If anyone has any information on this it would be a great help.
thanks
E

I'm seeing a lot of that in the SERPs with no particular pattern, even on BBC's site. Are you running Wordpress? Could it be a plugin you've added?

Often, pages on a website will have different means by which they're reached. As an example, the logo on a website's top-left often links to the homepage, but the link (initially) would be something like: websitename.com/ref=logo or something to that effect. This is the same sort of issue as websitename.com/ and websitename.com/home being the same page. What's recommended in these instances is to create a 301 redirect for every duplicate page, to the base. Meaning, you would redirect websitename.com/home to websitename.com/, which tells search engines like Google that the prior should be replaced in search and in access to the latter.
This may help you find other duplicates that you have by searching **site:websitename.com **in Google (all one word, no spaces). This shows you every page on a website and can help you keep track of what pages you need to take care of.

Is it possible to deindex old URLs that contain duplicate content?
Our client is a recruitment agency and their website used to contain a substantial amount of duplicate content as many of the listed job descriptions were repeated and recycled. As a result, their rankings rarely progress beyond page 2 on Google. Although they have started using more unique content for each listing, it appears that old job listings pages are still indexed so our assumption is that Google is holding down the ranking due to the amount of duplicate content present (one software returned a score of 43% duplicate content across the website). Looking at other recruitment websites, it appears that they block the actual job listings via the robots.txt file. Would blocking the job listings page from being indexed either by robots.txt or by a noindex tag reduce the negative impact of the duplicate content, but also remove any link juice coming to those pages? In addition, expired job listing URLs stay live which is likely to be increasing the overall duplicate content. Would it be worth removing these pages and setting up 404s, given that any links to these pages would be lost? If these pages are removed, is it possible to permanently deindex these URLs? Any help is greatly appreciated!

What to do with old website still online & duplicate content
I launched a new wordpress site at www.cheaptubes.com in Sept. I haven't taken the old one down yet, it is still at http://65.61.43.25/ The reason I left it up is I wanted to make sure everything was properly redirected 1st. Some pages and images are still ranking but most point to the new site. When I search for carbon nanotubes pricelist and look in images I see some of our images on the old site are still ranking there https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://65.61.43.25/images/single-walled-nanotubes.1.gif&imgrefurl=http://65.61.43.25/ohfunctionalizedcnts.htm&h=359&w=451&tbnid=HKlL84A_9X0jGM:&docid=N2wdCg7rSQBsjM&ei=-A2qVqThL4WxeKCyjdAM&tbm=isch&ved=0ahUKEwikvcWdxczKAhWFGB4KHSBZA8oQMwhJKCIwIg I guess I can put WP on the old server and do some 301s from there but I'm not sure if that is best or if I should just kill it off entirely? My rankings took a hit on Nov 15th and business has been bad ever since so I'm trying to figure this out quickly. Moz.com and onpage.org both say my site has duplicate content on several pages. I've looked at the content and it isn't duplicate. How can I figure this out? Google likely see's it the same way. These aren't duplicate pages, they are different products. I even searched my product pages to make sure I didn't have 2 of each in there and I don't. With Moz its mostly product tags it sees as duplicate but the products are completely different

Duplicate url problem causing me problems
Hi, i am working with a joomla site and i am using the sh404sef plugin. I have contacted the developer of the plugin who has not been very helpful so i am hoping to get help here. The problem i am having is, the description of the page showing in google listings is not the same as what i have put into the meta tag description. for example, for this page http://www.clairehegarty.co.uk/virtual-gastric-band-with-hypnotherapy the meta tag description should be Gastric Band Hypnotherapy to lose weight guaranteed. Free Gastric Band Hypnosis Consultations with Well Known Gastric Hypno Band expert as seen on TV. Hypno Gastric Band Works. We offer full support after your Gastric Band Hypnotherapy but in google it is showing Gastric Band Hypnotherapy Works. If you would like a slimmer and healthier body with all the benefits of weight loss surgery without any of the risks that can be ... now one thing i have noticed is: in the sh404sef control panel, i have noticed that i have the following index.php?option=com_content&Itemid=190&id=153&lang=en&view=article the above is the original url from day one but then i have the one below which is not the original index.php?option=com_content&Itemid=190&catid=150&id=153&lang=en&view=article i keep deleting the above which is not the original but it keeps coming back and i have been told this could be the fault can anyone please help me with this and solve how to stop it from coming back so google shows the correct description please.

Ajax #! URLs, Linking & Meta Refresh
Hi, We recently underwent a platform change and unfortunately our updated ecom site was coded using java script. The top navigation is uncrawlable, the pertinent product copy is undetectable and duplicated throughout the code, etc - it needs a lot of work to make it (even somewhat) seo-friendly. We're in the process of implementing ajax #! to our site and I've been tasked with creating a document of items that I will test to see if this solution will help our rankings, indexing, etc (on Google, I've read the issues w/ Bing). I have 2 questions: 1. Do I need to notify our content team who works on our linking strategy about the new urls? Would we use the #! url (for seo) or would we continue to use the clean url (without the #!) for inbound links? 2. When our site transferred over, we used meta refresh on all of the pages instead of 301s for some reason. Instead of going to a clean url, our meta refresh says this: . Would I update it to have the #! in the url? Should I try and clean up the meta refresh so it goes to an actual www. url and not this browsererrorview page? Or just push for the 301? I have read a ton of articles, including GWT docs, but I can't seem to find any solid information on these specific questions so any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Duplicate Content Question
Just signed up for pro and did my first diagnostic check - I came back with something like 300 duplicate content errors which suprised me because every page is unique. Turns out my pages are listed as www.sportstvjobs.com and just sportstvjobs.com does that really count as duplicate? and if so does anyone know what I should be doing differently? I thought it was just a canonical issue, but best I can tell I have the canonical in there but this still came up as a duplicate error....maybe I did canonical wrong, or its some other issue? Thanks Brian Clapp
