SEO trending down after adding content to website
-
Hi
Looking for some guidance. I added about 14 pages of unique content and did all of the on page SEO work using Yoast - have 'good' status on all of them some of the website architecture was changed - mainly on one page. That being said, we got a significant bump the day I implemented, however every day thereafter we have had very bad results. Worse than we had before for about 3 days now.
I did resubmit the updated sitemap to GWT and I'm showing no crawl errors.
Also, curious if my Robots.txt file could be the issue. All it contains is
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/Any insight or advise is greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your time -

I think Moosa and Andy both make great points which I agree with. I would definitely give it more time and it would be easier to give input with your domain. In terms of the content you have added in the form of new pages are these targeting new keywords or ones you were already ranking for? The reason I say this is because I have seen people cause themselves issues by creating new pages targeting terms that current pages were ranking for and this lead to keyword cannibalization. Jon Earnshaw gave a brilliant talk on this at Brighton SEO earlier this year - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASsxh8ZwseQ
I just thought I would mention it on the off chance
Best

Hi,
Always awkward to speculate on issues like this because there could be a problem we aren't aware of because we can't see it.
However, as Moosa said, I would also give it a little time as these things are often just part of the 'Google Dance' while it is decided what to do with the site and new content. Your Robots.txt file certainly isn't going to be the issue here.
If you wish to share the site and URL's, then we can take more of a look.

Personally I think you have to give it some more time. If you have added news pages of unique content, just make sure that the quality of content is good.
Also see if the keywords are mapped correctly. It is also important to add some internal linking as this will help new pages get crawled in Google and internal link will give a link juice to new pages.
If I would be at your place I would have boost new pages on social media and add some links to the new pages as well.
I think you should be doing the above mentioned activities and give it some time to see how Google is reacting to that.
Hope this helps!

Are on-site content carousel bad for SEO?
Hi, I didn't find an answer to my question in the Forum. I attached an example of content carousel, this is what I'm talking about. I understand that Google has no problem anymore with tabbed contents and accordeons (collapsible contents). But now I'm wondering about textual carousels. I'm not talking about an image slider, I'm talking about texts. Is text carousel harder to read for Google than plain text or tabs? Of course, i'm not talking about a carousel using Flash. Let's say the code is proper... Thanks for your help. spfra5

Redirect our www.website.com to website. Com/target-keyword
Dear moz community I have been analyzing the websites that rank in top 20 for our target keywords. All of the top 20 sites except us have their websites re directing to websites.com/target keyword. This is due to probably because they have multiple city's and one of the target keywords term is cityname + word. My question is and idea - make a 301 to our www.website.com to /city-keyword and start linking to that page with new links. Would that bring any benefit? Seems that it's a very strong ranking signal. Any threats that I must take into account? We currently rank as #9

International Seo - Canada
Our organization is currently only operating in the USA but will soon be entering the Canadian market. We did a lot of research and decided that for our needs it would be best to use a subfolder for Canada. Initially we will be targeting the english speaking community but eventually we will want to expand to the french speaking Canadians as well. The question is - is there a preferred version in setting up the subfolders: www.website.org/ca/ -- default will be english www.website.org/ca/fr/ - french www.website.org/en-ca/ - english www.website.org/fr-ca/ - french www.website.org/ca/en/ -english www.website.org/ca/fr/ - french Thanks

404-like content
A site that I look after is having lots of soft 404 responses for pages that are not 404 at all but unique content pages. the following page is an example: http://www.professionalindemnitynow.com/medical-malpractice-insurance-clinics This page returns a 200 response code, has unique content, but is not getting indexed. Any ideas? To add further information that may well impact your answer, let me explain how this "classic ASP" website performs the SEO Friendly url mapping: All pages within the custom CMS have a unique ID which are referenced with an ?intID=xx parameter. The custom 404.asp file receives a request, looks up the ID to find matching content in the CMS, and then server.transfers the visitor to the correct page. Like I said, the response codes are setup correctly, as far as Firebug can tell me. any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Adding Wordpress On Separate Server w/ subdomain = SEO Issues?
I have a client that wants to setup wordpress for their business site. However, they are really concerned about the load time a wordpress install creates on their site in the root. So, they want to setup wordpress with a sub-domain on a separate server. For example: abc.domain.com As far as SEO is concerned with the main site, what are the advantages and disadvantages for using a separate server w/ subdomain?
