I am using All-in-One-seo. I change the title and meta description on the home page, but it is not showing up on the search. It is on the source code. When I change other pages, the both show up in the search, just not the home page. Any idea why?.

Alll in one SEO

Sorry, I meant 'disabled' not 'enabled' which is the default
-
We did find the answer. It was not re-verification (which I still wonder about) or Google 'rights'. It was part of the All-in-one-SEO plug-in. We use Yoast on most of our sites so did not know about this intricacy of all-in-one. There is a 'general" settings tab. For the home page only, the plug-in has to be 'enabled'. See attached. http://imgur.com/1RWnmfk .

Hi jgodwin! Did this get worked out? Sounds like Kristen has pretty well nailed what's going on.

Take a look at the source code of the cached page that is returned in search results. That'll let you know what Google has indexed.
-
It means that either the code (or file) was removed or your google account is not linked to that property. Just verify it again, if code is there, you won't have to do anything, but click "verify" button.

On the 'fetch as google' webmaster tool https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/googlebot-fetch. It gives a verification code to put in the html. We did this a number of years ago. That's the code i referred to.
-
uhmmm.. what are you talking about?
-
We already have a verification code on the page. Should i replace it with a new one via 'fetch as google'?
-
Hi there.
Make sure that there is the only title and the only meta on each page, also check for other technical errors. If there are none and metas you're talking about is in the source code, do a "fetch as google" from Google webmaster tools. Then wait couple days. It always takes time to update snippets in search results.
If ALL metas are not showing up even then, it means that there is a tech errors somewhere. If some of them showing up, but not others - Google reserves the right to not use provided titles or meta descriptions. Meaning that your meta descriptions are not related enough to what is on the page.

Templates for Meta Description, Good or Bad?
Hello, We have a website where users can browse photos of different categories. For each photo we are using a meta description template such as: Are you looking for a nice and cool photo? [Photo name] is the photo which might be of interest to you. And in the keywords tags we are using: [Photo name] photos, [Photo name] free photos, [Photo name] best photos. I'm wondering, is this any safe method? it's very difficult to write a manual description when you have 3,000+ photos in the database. Thanks!

Should XML sitemaps include *all* pages or just the deeper ones?
Hi guys, Ok this is a bit of a sitemap 101 question but I cant find a definitive answer: When we're running out XML sitemaps for google to chew on (we're talking ecommerce and directory sites with many pages inside sub-categories here) is there any point in mentioning the homepage or even the second level pages? We know google is crawling and indexing those and we're thinking we should trim the fat and just send a map of the bottom level pages. What do you think?
