My warning report says I have too many on page links - 517! I can't find 50% of them but my q is about no follow
-
if we put 'no follow' on some of these links does that mean
-
the search engines won't index the no follow pages even if those pages are linked to from elsewhere?
-
no link juice will flow from the page with the (no follow) links on?
Just trying to understand why my rankings have dropped so dramatically in the last 6 weeks or so since we redesigned the site, and it might be that now we have too many links on the homepage. This is the page http://www.suffolktouristguide.com/
All suggestions appreciated!

Hi Sarah,
-
the search engines won't index the no follow pages even if those pages are linked to from elsewhere? - Incorrect. The search engine will index the pages if the crawler reaches them from another link, provided this other link is followable. Assuming the page you are linking to does not meta rel nofollow, noindex.
-
no link juice will flow from the page with the (no follow) links on? - Correct. Link juice will only flow through links if they are followable.
With regards to your general statement about why your rankings have dropped since the redesign - have you changed the overall architecture of the site? Change the URL structure? Or is it simply a refresh, moved a few bits around, prettied up the pages, etc?
Matt

Hi Sarah,
You're right about the 517 links, the SEOMoz toolbaar shows around 517 internal links. But there can't be found more than ±130 links on the page itself. However hopefully this answers your questions.
-
No, if the page is still linked from other pages without the nofollow this won't help.
-
Yes. The link won't be followed by Google.

H1 tag found on page, but saying doesn't match keyword
We've run a on-page grader test on our home page www.whichledlight.com with the keyword 'led bulbs' it comes back with saying there is a H1 tag, although the content of the keyword apperently doesn't contain 'led bulbs... which seems a bit odd because the content of the tag is 'UK’s #1 Price Comparison Site for LED Bulbs` I've used other SEO checkers and some say we don't even have a H1 tag, or H2, H3 and so on for any page. Screaming Frog seems to think we have a H1 tag though, and can also detect the content of the tag. Any ideas? ** Update ** The website is a single page app (EmberJS) so we use prerender to create snapshots of the pages.

We were under the impression that MOZ can crawl these prerendered pages fine, so were a bit baffled as to why it would say we have a H1 tag, but think the contents of the tag still doesn't match our keyword.0 -
Links: Links come from bizzare pages
Hi all, My question is related to links that I saw in Google Search Console. While looking at who is linking to my site, I saw that GSC has some links that are coming from third party websites but these third party webpages are not indexed and not even put up by their owners. It looks like the owner never created these pages, these pages are not indexed (when you do a site: search in Google) but the URL of these pages loads content in the browser. Example - www.samplesite1.com/fakefolder/fakeurl what exactly is this thing? To mention more details, the third party website in question is a Wordpress website and I guess is probably hijacked. But how does one even get these types pages/URLs up and running on someone else's website and then link out to other websites. I am concerned as the content that I am getting link from is adult content and I will have to do some link cleansing soon.

How can a recruitment company get 'credit' from Google when syndicating job posts?
I'm working on an SEO strategy for a recruitment agency. Like many recruitment agencies, they write tons of great unique content each month and as agencies do, they post the job descriptions to job websites as well as their own. These job websites won't generally allow any linking back to the agency website from the post. What can we do to make Google realise that the originator of the post is the recruitment agency and they deserve the 'credit' for the content? The recruitment agency has a low domain authority and so we've very much at the start of the process. It would be a damn shamn if they produced so much great unique content but couldn't get Google to recognise it. Google's advice says: "Syndicate carefully: If you syndicate your content on other sites, Google will always show the version we think is most appropriate for users in each given search, which may or may not be the version you'd prefer. However, it is helpful to ensure that each site on which your content is syndicated includes a link back to your original article. You can also ask those who use your syndicated material to use the noindex meta tag to prevent search engines from indexing their version of the content." - But none of that can happen. Those big job websites just won't do it. A previous post here didn't get a sufficient answer. I'm starting to think there isn't an answer, other than having more authority than the websites we're syndicating to. Which isn't going to happen any time soon! Any thoughts?

Can't diagnose this 404 error
Hi Moz community I have started receiving a load of 404 errors that look like this: This page: http://paulminors.com/blog/page/5/ is linking to: http://paulminors.com/category/podcast/paulminors.com which is a broken link. This is happening with a load of other pages as well. It seems that "paulminors.com" is being added to the end of the linking pages URL.I'm using Wordpress and the SEO by Yoast plugin. I have searched for this link in the source of the linking page but can't find it, so I'm struggling to diagnose the problem. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks in advance Paul

What do do when sidebar is causing "Too Many On-Page Links" error
I have been going through all the errors, warnings from my weekly SEO Moz scans. One thing I'm see a bit of is "Too Many On-Page Links". I've only seen a few, but as in the case of this one: http://blog.mexpro.com/5-kid-friendly-cancun-mexico-resorts there is only 2 links on the page (the image and the read more). So I think the sidebar links are causing the error. I feel my tags are important to help readers find information they may be looking for. Is there a better method to present tags than the wordpress tag cloud? Should I exclude the tags, with the risk of making things more difficult for my users? Thanks for your help.
