Only homepage is ranking after site re-launch

We've been moving all our sites over to a new platform (Demandware) this year. In the process, they've all gotten updated designs (from the same template), on-page optimizations, etc. Since they're all on the same platform and are essentially copies from one template, any technical issues found have been fixed across all sites.
The problem I'm seeing is there are a few sites that haven't really seen much/any recovery from the site launch, and these are sites that were done 4-5 months ago. There's one in particular that's especially concerning, since it's showing issues that none of the other sites seem to have. In my Moz reports, it looks like of all the keywords that are ranking, they're only ranking the https version of the homepage (and from what I'm seeing, the https version wasn't picked up and ranked until the beginning of October, which was also the time that WMT shows a huge drop in clicks and impressions).
I've crawled the site (ScreamingFrog), done a site search in Google (all pages look to be indexed), etc. and I haven't come across any specific problems there that would suggest a technical issue. We're wondering if it might be a link authority problem, since this site had the most dramatic change in navigation. The navigation used to be product based (Boots, Shoes, etc.) and is now broken up by gender. I've noticed that a few other pages that are ranking are dual gender pages that also existed on the old site, whereas all of these new categories aren't ranking at all and I'm not seeing this happen with any of our other sites.
I've gone down a bunch of different paths trying to figure this out, but I haven't come up with any concrete answers as to why this is happening and how to fix it. Any thoughts as to what else I can look into or try for this?

- Your main anchor text is like 56%.
- Your main homepage is a country selector page.
- Meta titles are almost all related to the same 3 keyphrases.

If you want to post or PM me the link I'd like to take a deeper look at the specific domain in question. We're often shooting in the dark when we don't have the link as there could be 100 reasons it isn't working the way you want.

Well, I would make sure to work on on-page SEO and use "fetch as google" in GWT after any work is done to ensure crawling of all changes.
Other than that - I'm not even sure what to say. Check periodically for tech issues and other errors and make sure that all redirects are properly working.

Ha! I know, I wasn't sure how much information was needed to help explain the situation, so I just included whatever I could think of.
So, yes, we expected a time frame where the site would drop in rank, the new pages would need to be indexed and the old pages would need to be de-indexed, etc. But none of the other sites that were moved over have taken this long to recover. Granted, I think most of them had an easier transition since there were many more landing pages that continued to have the same URLs. In some cases, once Google had figured out which pages to index and which no longer existed, I saw an instant switch out and the new page was ranking at the same spot the old one was.
On-page SEO isn't looking okay. We've made edits to it, we're trying to avoid cannibalization, so each page has a specific target, etc. We're working on writing body copy for any pages that are lacking, but the old sites didn't have any, so I'm thinking that's probably not the main issue (although I'm sure it'll definitely help once it's up).

Existing URLs were mapped to new pages and 301s put in place (we also used OSE and Search Console to identify pages that are being linked to and set up 301s for those). Any pages that weren't mapped (old products, for example), had a catch-all 301 rule applied that redirects those to the homepage (I'll go in to Search Console and see which pages are throwing soft 404s and clean those up. We'll be adding 404 pages in the near future). A small handful of these pages kept the same URL if it was SEO-friendly, but the majority of the dual gender pages we kept used some kind of filter, so those ended up being changed. Though, the majority of the site is completely new pages.
As far the migrating the sites, I believe once one site was done, the dev team basically made copies of that site and edited images/text/styles for each brand (these are all brand eCommerce sites).

Phew! After reading all that text I'm still not sure what the exact issue is. Correct me if i'm wrong. Basically, after redesign and restructure website doesn't rank, even though there are no technical issues?
Now, I understand that tech issues can be the reason for not ranking, but what about actual on-page SEO, is everything else perfect?

How did you migrate the sites across? Did you map all of your existing url's etc? More information would help.
If it were me I would look at the variances between sites already migrated with no problems and the one with problems, identify those and it may help you know where to look regarding the problem.

1. While I know it’s a good idea to optimize for keywords that you're currently ranked for, there’s no search volume for any of these. So, I recommended non-geo versions since Google provides search results based on the user’s location. Will this preserve the company's current rankings?
2. If not optimizing for their current keywords will hurt their rankings, will using the current keywords as secondary keywords suffice? If so, do we need to include them in the content for keyword density?
3. Since search engine algorithms now focus so heavily on user intent, I assume we’re covered for all variations of a keyword (i.e. outsource it, outsourced it, outsourcing it, etc.) Is this correct?
4. They want to rank for “cloud services” and “cloud solutions.” Both are very competitive with high difficulty rankings. So, I recommended “cloud migration” and “cloud strategy” as alternatives since these are the main services they provide. Will including “cloud services” and “cloud solutions” as secondary keywords help them increase their rankings for both? Does traffic for branded searches help a site rank for general terms?
A year or two ago we put up some websites which were specific to brands we own. Sure enough those sites (eg 'myBrand.com') started to rank pretty well for those brand terms eg 'mybrand curling tongs' (it's not curling tongs, btw, but you get the idea). We were getting a decent amount of traffic presumably from people who have bought or seen these products on our amazon/ebay stores. Before long, we see us starting to rank well for non branded searches eg 'curling tongs' even among decent competition. Next thing you know I'm getting told by the boss that we need to put up websites for all specific ranges, not just brands, because specificity is a bonus for ranking well. While there's probably a point that a site for MybrandCurlingTongs lends itself well to ranking for curling tongs, is there also an element that the branded searches we got (via making our brand known on amazon/ebay) helped the site gain recognition and authority? As such a new website about 'ionising hair dryers' would not rank well based on being specific, because it wouldn't be helped by a lot of branded traffic?

Not sure how we're blocking homepage in robots.txt; meta description not shown
Hi folks! We had a question come in from a client who needs assistance with their robots.txt file. Metadata for their homepage and select other pages isn't appearing in SERPs. Instead they get the usual message "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more". At first glance, we're not seeing the homepage or these other pages as being blocked by their robots.txt file: http://www.t2tea.com/robots.txt. Does anyone see what we can't? Any thoughts are massively appreciated! P.S. They used wildcards to ensure the rules were applied for all locale subdirectories, e.g. /en/au/, /en/us/, etc.

Keyword Rankings: One keyword dropped, dragging other rankings down. Possible or not?
Hey moz fans, So these week I noticed significant drop in rankings... But what caught my attention is that one specific keyword dropped 18 positions, and all the other just 1-3. Print screen: http://prntscr.com/7fb4g4 Do you think it's possible that the drop of that page, that went 18 positions down, brought the whole domain down? Or is it another cause?

Trouble ranking
I have a site that got messed over pretty hard by a BigCommerce issue. They used to rank but then Big Commerce had a glitch that set every page on the site to a https which was auto set, by their system, to not be indexed. This caused the entire site to go missing. It was then fixed by me, only to have the same glitch happen again. I again fixed it, and BigCommerce released a patch to resolve the issue. They admitted blame to my client and said it can take a while to resolve. It has been a few months now, and google is slowly recrawling the site. It has about half the pages indexed. The pages that are indexed do not rank at all. I was wondering if you guys see any major flags that would cause this or if it is still related to the big commerce glitch. link

Homepage bombed from rankings
I'm working on a site that has historically had issues ranking the homepage. We cleaned up some on page issues and then it went into a high and low pattern - page 4 then page 12 etc (was static around page 9 before), settling at page 6. The link profile was not good and there were a high level of links that should have been no-follow as they were clearly looking paid for - we addressed this along with some other poor links. This effectively dropped ranking down to page 23, but not unexpected considering the very big drop in followed links. Meanwhile we have embarked on a fresh steady link building strategy with nice clean links, varied anchor text coming from varying DA domains, smattered with a few no-follow links - strongly focussing on being as natural as possible. At the Penguin update the homepage has totally disappeared. Frustratingly just after the update (same day) we removed a 301ed old domain from the profile. This was the old company URL which we discovered had a lot of spam linking associated with it. An oversight - there were other 301 domains that were removed some time ago which were totally unrelated to the main site and we were told all other domains were simply bought and redirected to stop hijacking - all but this were. Considering the work we have done would it be good assumption this domain 301 could be the underlying factor? So far organic traffic is steady, in fact a tad up. What would you guys do?

Why Is This Page Not Ranking?
Hi Mozzers, I can't rank (the page is nowhere on the Google grid that I can find) and I've not been able to move the needle at all on it. The page is http://www.lumber2.com/Western-Saddle-Pads-s/98.htm for keyword "western saddle pads." I'm inclined to think I'm cannabalizing the category with the products so I removed the word saddle from the majority of the product names on page. However, saddle pad or saddle pads is in the meta title for most if not all of the products. Do you think I'm cannabalizing with the product titles or is there something else going on? Thanks for any help.

You're given 10,000 recipes and told to build a site--what would you do?
Say you were given a list of 10,000 recipes and asked to build an SEO friendly site. Would you build a recipe search engine and index the search results (of course making sure that IA and user engagement metrics are great)? Or, would you try to build static pages?
