Why did I take a nose dive on november 6?

Note: Domain listed below is NSFW
Hi guys and girls,
I dont know WHY this seemed to have happened for my little webshop www.reallovesexdolls.com
At this moment I raised my paid per click campaign so i still get visitors. But that costs too much money. Dont know what I did wrong, everything seemed so great.
How can I make a fast recovery?

Those particular forum links are definitely low-quality. "Black-hat" is kind of a loaded phrase, I find, but if you had a lot of links like those, you'd be potentially getting yourself into trouble.
The problem is that, when most of us see low-quality links, we assume there are more like it. Right now, those links aren't showing up, so that may be an assumption.
The other issue is that, if your link profile is weak right now - if these really are the only links you have - then the quality of those few, initial links can matter even more. It's very important to start out with a solid base, or even a chunk of medium-spammy links can hit you a lot harder.
-
Isnt it so that I just have links coming from www.dollforum.com?
PLEASE let me know if there are links that look like black hat SEO. I dont know where to find the links that have been built on my behalf.
I havent gotten a penalty btw.
-
Has anyone been doing link-building on your behalf? The pattern of links definitely looks intentional, and 99% of the time, that ends up being someone (an employee, an agency, a consultant, etc.) working on behalf of the site. If you have any other parties involved in the search efforts on your behalf, I'd make doubly sure to get a status report one exactly what they've been doing.
-
Thanks very much for your answers. We havent been doing any link building whatsoever. We have not been doing any black hat seo either.
-
I'm seeing evidence for a big chunk of forum links and other potential link quality issues - I agree with PeaSoupDigital that, a sudden spike in visibility followed by a crash can be a bad sign of aggressive link-building. However, that's very speculative on my part, given limited evidence.
Also seeing some odd issues with Google caching different titles and meta-data than I currently see on the page. I don't see any clear evidence of cloaking, but it looks like Google re-cached today and is still showing different info, which seems odd. I'm wondering if your adult content pop-over is causing issues. Honestly, that's a bit outside of my expertise.
Are there particular keywords where you saw a drop?
-
Martine,
I remember speaking with you earlier this year about your site and SEO. I don't remember why we didn't move forward as I've moved away from the agency I was working with and don't have access to those emails anymore. But you really do need to hire an SEO. I'd love to chat with you again about this if you want to PM me.
Your SEO drops mainly because everyone in your niche is constantly moving. They are spamming, rising, falling, dropping you, pushing you up -- until you get enough of the right authority, you're going to be pushed around quite a lot in the search results. They have A LOT of authority and push you around because your own is mostly limited to dollforum.com if I remember it right.
Also, it looks like you changed your website a bit. I would have to dig into the specifics but if URLs changed and were not handled properly on the change, you could lose a lot of authority that way. Not sure how much the change was simply aesthetic.
When you do hire someone, do hire someone who enjoys working within this industry as they're going to have to do competitor research and the such. I understand why you got the NSFW tag given your site but there are plenty of people who are happy to work on adult SEO and adult clients. You should use someone who has enough experience and doesn't think it's "ew, squishy."
-
I'm not going to check your site as the subject seems very NSFW, but your Search Metrics Visibility score seems to have taken a massive tumble (see pic).
Your score was only 10 at the start of October and had increased to 1,600 in just 4 short weeks, which looks like a very unnatural growth rate and would suggest you've been employing some black-hatted tactics...
Have you received a message from Google in Webmaster Tools regarding a penalty?

My site takes a lot of time to index On SERP
Hello great Moz contributors, I'm working on a 4-months-old site https://www.voxlyrics.com/, which I didn't see improvement after the Google December core update. What I'm facing right now is that my newly published posts take a lot of time to index on Google search results and it affecting my performance. While my competitor's sites index in less than a minute. I could've used the Google index tool which they removed a few months ago assumed they bring the feature back. Meanwhile, my site passed web.dev test perfect what happens very rarely. Is there any other thing needed to be done so that my posts will be indexing in less than a minute? Any help will be appreciated!

We recently updated a large guide that takes the place of the original. The original has some nice organic traffic to it and I don't want to risk losing it. Should I 301 redirect to the new version, or update all the info directly on the original page?
We don't have a lot of content that garners much non-branded organic, so this is something I don't want to risk losing. We do not have a whole lot of external links into the page either.

Ranking drop from 6 op 23 in one day - freaking out
Dear, Moz We have been hard at work going some off site and on site SEO. However yesterday we got around 1600 404 errors from google, and ranking dropped from 7 in front page to 25. What we did: I found an error in Htacces, where my partner had this (rewritebase with double // and rule with // - I quess this started creating urls for google, because twww.website.com//category-category-cateory OK. But google says that they will not effect your rankings because 404s? Second think i found was that we had some urls, which had canonical tag to a page called search. Now that search (duplicate of homepage) we 301 to our main homepage. Can that effect ranking? You have 404s that have canonical to a page that itselft redirects (301) to homepage. We also removed the / splash. Nothing more.. Below is the htaccess, that had the double // error. Please comment. Options +FollowSymLinks

Do i have to optimize all pages on ecommerce site which is currently 4028 give or take
Hello, do i have to optimize all pages on ecommerce site, as its a lot of pages to developed unique content for my plan at the moment is to start from top down, I have completed top home, featured products etc i have also started on individual team shops my content inst unique to each page more the same and just changing the team name and keyword i was planning on doing that in the blog area of the site and just making the top categories and sub categories. and maybe in time start on the products. I can do all categories in about two months but to complete products would take like 2 years I don't feel that is productive and most would be changed or out of stock by then please take a look at my site and tell me what you think ? sportingdesires.com Kindest Regards, Stephen Kewn

Will a on-page food/drink menu take away from my target keywords?
I am trying to rank for Chicago corporate events, so I am writing new content for a landing page. I have a description of our venue and why one should have a corporate event there, all content that is very rich in corporate event keywords. I then go on to say our drink packages and food packages. Overall, my actual keyword targeted content is 1/5 of the content and the other 4/5 is menu. At first I thought the more content the better, but now that I realize a lot fo the content is just saying different foods and alcohols I'm questioning my strategy. I'm going to do my metas and h1s and stuff with corporate event keywords. But is the menu going to get in the way of ranking for the corporate event keywords? Thanks in advance 🙂

Removing syndicated duplicate content from website - what steps do I need to take to make sure Google knows?
Hey all, So I've made the decision to cancel the service that provides my blog with regular content / posts, since it seems that having duplicate content on my site isn't doing me any favors. So I'm on a Wordpress system - I'll be exporting the posts so I have them for reference, and then deleting the posts. There are like 150 or so - What steps should I take to ensure that Google learns of the changes I've made? Or do I not need to do anything at all in that department? Also - I guess I've assumed that the best decision would be to 'remove' the content from my blog. IS that the best way to go? Or should I leave it in place and start adding unique content? (my guess is that I need to remove it...) Thanks for your help, Kurt

How long does it take for Google to see Changes to a site?
Hi, I have a low PR site (PR 1) that I am starting to work on. Ingeneral when you make changes to my site how long would it take Google to recognize and index those changes? The reason I am wondering is because the site I am working on had a lot of duplicate content (around 700 pages), I got rid of it all, but I wasn't sure how long it would take Google to spider all these pages and re-index them since the site is low PR. Thanks, Ken
