Added sub-folder to GWT no data?
Hi guys,
I've added a sub-folder to GWT: domain.com.au/us/ about 5 days ago.
I have no yet received any data via GWT around the subfolder.
The main domain domain.com.au has been added separately and is receiving traffic.
Any ideas why i'm not seeing data for the sub-folder above domain.com.au/us/
I simply added it as a new property in GWT.
Thankyou.

Hi Jay! Did you ever get your data? Or did these fine folks help?
-
GSC is very finicky, I'd make sure:
- You're using the www subdomain, if that's how traffic typically gets to your site
- Google has domain.com.au/us/ indexed (check by searching for site:domain.com.au/us/ to see all of the pages Google has in its index)
- This subfolder gets traffic (check for organic traffic in Google Analytics)
Hope this helps!
Kristina

Peter brings up a good check: are domain.com.au/us/ pages in Google's index? If they're blocked, you won't get anything.
-
Uhmm I thought this was about Google Search Console, not Google Analytics?
-
Sometimes it can take up to a week for data to appear in Google Search Console, but it should be there faster usually. We added hundreds of profiles automatically and within days we received the information. Are you absolutely positive that this folder is already receiving organic traffic?
-
Maybe because content there isn't appear in SERP to generate impressions. You need to check robots.txt, sitemap, hreflang of main site to see how pages in /us/ folder are indexed.

Mapping ALL search data for a broad topic
Hi All As our company becomes a bigger and bigger entity I'm trying to figure out how I can create more autonomy. One of the key areas that needs fixing is briefing the writers on articles based on keywords. We're not just trying to go after the low hanging fruit or the big money keywords but actually comprehensively cover every topic and provide actual good quality up to date info (surprisingly rare in a competitive niche) and eventually cover pretty much every topic there is. We generally work on a 3 tier system on a folder level, topics and then sub-topics. The challenge is getting an agency to: a) be able to pull all of the data without being knowledgeable in our specific industry. We're specialists and, thus, target people that need specialist expertise as well as more mainstream stuff (the stuff that run of the mill people wouldn't know about). b) know where it all fits topically as we kind of organise the content on a heirarchy basis. And we generally cover multiple smaller topics within articles. Am I asking for the impossible here? It's the one area of the business I feel the most nervous about creating autonomy with. Can we become be as extensive and comprehensive as a wiki-type website without having somebody within the business that knows it providing the keyword research. I did a searh for all data using the main two seed keywords for this subject on ahrefs and it came up with 168000 lines of spreadsheet data. Obviously this went way beyond the maximum I was allowed to export. Interested in feedback and, if any agencies are up for the challenge, do let me know! I've been using moz pro for a long time but have never posted and apologise if what I'm describing is being explained badly here. Requirements Keywords to cover all (broad niche) related queries in the UK, no relevant uk (broad niche) keywords will be missed Organised in a way that can be interpreted as article brief and folder structure instructions. Questions How would you ensure you cover every single keyword? Assuming no specialist X knowledge, how will you be able to map content and know which search queries belong in which topics and in what order. Also (where there is keyword leakage from other regions) how will you know which are UK terms and which aren’t? With minimal X knowledge – how will you know whether you’ve missed an opportunity or not (what you don’t know you don’t know) What specific resources will you require from us in order for this to work? What format will the data be provided to us in - how will you present the finished work so that it can be turned into article briefs?

Regarding SEO Structured Data
1. Should we add organization schema on all pages of the website OR just homepage? 2. What is the best practice for catalog page schema as every website is following a different pattern?

Structured Data and Google Rich Cards for products
It appears Google is moving towards the Rich Cards JSON-LD for all data. https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2016/05/introducing-rich-cards.html However on an ecommerce site when I have schema.org microdata structured data inline for a product and then I add the JSON-LD structured data Google treats that as two products on the page even though they are the same. To make the matter more confusing Bing doesn't appear to support JSON-LD. I can go back to the inline structured data only, but that would mean when Rich Cards for products eventually come I won't be ready. What do you recommend I do for long term seo, go back to the old or press forward with JSON-LD?

Will we be penalised for duplicate content on a sub-domain?
Hi there, I run a WordPress blog and I use [community platform] Discourse for commenting. When we publish a post to Wordpress, a duplicate of that post is pushed to a topic on Discourse, which is on a sub-domain. Eg: The original post and the duplicated post. Will we be penalised for duplicating our own content on a subdomain? If so, other than using an excerpt, what are our options? Thanks!

GWT does not play nice with 410 status code approach to expire content? Use 301s?
We have been diligently managing our index size in Google for our sites and are returning a 410 status code for pages that we no longer consider "up-to-date" but still carry value for users to access to have Google remove them from our index to keep it lean. However we have been receiving GWT warning across sites because of the 410 status codes Google is encountering which makes us nervous that Google could interpret this approach as a lack of quality of our site. Does anyone have a view if the 410 approach is the right approach for the given example or if we should consider maybe simply using 301s or another status code to keep our GWT errors clean? Further notes there is hardly ever any link juice being sent to those pages so it is not like we are missing out on that the pages for which we return 410 are also marked as noindex and nofollow

Adding videos to a website
Hello! We are producing multiple videos (each about 1-minute long) for a company website. We have decided to use Wistia to host them, in order get the full SEO benefits of links to the videos. I have two questions: 1. Would it definitely be better for SEO to divide up the videos and place them on the various existing pages of the site that are related to the video content, rather than putting all the videos together on a separate video page? 2. If we do put different videos on different pages, would it be a bad idea also to have a video page with all the videos together? Would this be considered duplicate content? Thank you very much!

Sub domain will not index - Next plan of action?
I'm not sure exactly what option i should take next. but i'll run you through a few points: The page is optimized to a rank "A" The page has 350 backlinks* a strong social presence Interlinking pages. High domain authority an OK page authority The domain ranks highly Every other sub domain rank highly. I make a search and the first page that ranks for this domain is a product page within the exact sub domain i'm trying to rank for, followed by some external blogs I've written and then the rest of the product pages. I've submitted the URL to web master tools twice and yet it still will not rank for that keyword. The only time i see the page index is if i copy the exact URL into Google. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
