Search engine submission - Urgent

Is it necessary to submit a new site to search engines?
I have a brand-new site I purchased a few days ago which I didn't think to check until after I purchased it, But it has not been indexed by Google!
The domain was registered three months ago, and probably the website wouldn't have been designed until after that.
But I'm still left puzzling why the site is not indexed by Google.Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I would agree with Dirk. There is not much to rank for on your website, all of your content comes from amazon.
Still, another questions is why is it not indexed yet. The website is built on Wordpress and if you haven't touched your robots.txt then it should not block crawlers. As I can see you are not ranking for your exact match domain name (i.e. site: yourdomain.com) which can be sign of a manual penalty.
What I would suggest is to add some content, do some internal optimisation (download seo Yoast plugin), add Titles, H1, optimise images and so forth. Then, create a separate search console account and submit your sitemap and see if it works.
-
A penalty is not irreversible - but with the effort you will have to put into it you might as well start on a new domain from scratch. This is what I personally would do. It's not that the domain is so powerful by itself - an exact match domain might give you a small advantage but on the other hand you will have to put much more effort to re-build the site reputation.
To be 100% sure - check the search console of the site - using a "new" Google account not related to your current one; if you want to be extremely careful - do it on some external network - not on your own network.

I know it's stupid but I didn't think to check for a Google penalty before I brought it, normally I wouldn't even look at a domain that wasn't indexed.
I brought it with the idea of beefing it up a lot, I realised I would have to do all the SEO stuff, but if it's had a penalty it is debatable whether I even bother with it.
Is it worthwhile putting a bit into it and seeing whether indexes or not?
It's not the end of the world I got it for a snip, it may be better to curb the losses and put it into a site that is clean. -
The site did exist before - check https://web.archive.org/web/20141117163048/http://www.(your domain)/ - so quite possible it had a manual action (if the type of content was as low quality then as it is now) erasing it from the index.
-
It's a very thin affiliate site with 0% original content (all content = Amazon). On top of that - its quite heavy to load, has no optimisation whatsoever (H1/Meta/..etc); several elements on page that return 404 status, low pagespeed scores and as it is new, no incoming links.
You could check the logs - it's quite possible that Googlebot hasn't discovered the site yet. If it has visited, it probably considered the site too low quality to index. If not visited, you could register in Search Console and do a "fetch like Google".
It will probably put some pages in the index - but there is no chance that with the current content this site is going to rank.Dirk

The site is great-headphones [dot] c o m
It is an Amazon affiliate store, nothing in the way of blog yet just products.
I haven't added it to my google search console account yet, just in case it is dodgy, I don't want Google penalising the rest of my sites as well.

what's patients name? or is it a secret?
As for robots.txt - typically not having any wouldn't prevent bots from accessing a site, but who knows.
P.S. please, answer all questions asked - content? seo? any messages in google search console (previously known as Google Webmaster Tools)?
-
It is not indexed at all. I have tried the info: and site: parameter
As far as I can tell it is accessible. But have just found there is no robots.txt! Dose is mater?
-
Hi there.
Who's the patient?
Is it actually not indexed or not ranking on first page? Is there any content? Any SEO done? what about accessibility by bots? have you checked robots.txt? Any meta robots tags?

Urgent help needed for site move with major ranking loss
URGENT HELP/ADVICE NEEDED I am so stressed and worried about my website domain change. I desperately need advice as soon as possible. I will try my best to keep this as brief as possible. I have owned and operated my punk clothing business online at the URL toofastonline.com for 15 years now. And for a long long time we ranked #1 for punk clothing on Google & life was good. However, thanks to the arrival of several cheap marketplaces and other unanticipated changes our ranking dropped considerably. The last few years have been extremely hard on us, to say the least, we came really close to losing the business altogether. But finally after lots of hard work & long hours, things started to improve. Ranking went back up, and we were busy again. I had been toying with the idea of buying the domain TooFast.com for about 10 years, but I never had the money to do it until this now, so I made the leap and as of Jan 9, toofastonline.com became toofast.com. Unfortunately, I now know that I set up the domain change hastily, without doing any of the pre-work Google suggests to do. I didn’t know it then but I did it wrong. And our site which wasranking #7 for punk clothing on Jan. 8th is now number 51 and today is only Jan 24th! I AM PANICKING. I have looked for help, posting jobs on Shopify Experts site several times now, opening accounts with MOZ and SEM Rush, spending countless hours on the phone with GoDaddy, Shopify and even long chats with Google. I have spent all day everyday for the past two weeks trying fix everything to no avail. No one can start on my site issues fast enough. And I have been given so much wrong information that I feel like I have done irreparable damage. I was (am) not qualified to make this kind of a site change alone. Too much was done too fast and without any real working knowledge Google SEO. My brother was the SEO guy and since he left the business I have just been struggling along with it, just trying to keep my head above water. So now for the big question: Should I temporarily change my Shopify stores domain back to toofastonline.com? This way I couldstart at the beginning, fix all the 404 redirects, fix the 301 redirects, clean up code, get the site in top working condition, and then, as Google suggests in theirGoogle Search Console Change of Address Toolstart to do the change of address in small sections, I can not afford to make any more reckless decisions. I have started and stopped, updated, fixed, changed and tried to fix again too many times now. I dont want Google to think I am trying something shady.. I’m not, I just don’t know what I’m doing, and I need help. Here is as much info as I can think of, I am more than willing to pay for help or do the work myself, as long as what I am doing is the right thing. Any and all help/advice/offers are welcome! In Search Console, why is the XML sitemap "issue" count 5x higher than the URL submission count?
Google Search Console is telling us that there are 5,193 sitemap "issues" - URLs that are present on the XML sitemap that are blocked by robots.txt However, there are only 1,222 total URLs submitted on the XML sitemap. I only found 83 instances of URLs that fit their example description. Why is the number of "issues" so high? Does it compound over time as Google re-crawls the sitemap?

How to get local search volumes?
Hi Guys, I want to get search volumes for "carpet cleaning" for certain areas in Sydney, Australia. I'm using this process: Choose to ‘Search for new keyword and ad group ideas’. Enter the main keywords regarding your product / service Remove any default country targeting Specify your chosen location (s) by targeting specific cities / regions Click to ‘Get ideas’ The problem is none of the areas, even popular ones (like north sydney, surry hills, newtown, manly) are appearing and Google keyword tool, no matches. Is there any other tools or sources of data i can use to get accurate search volumes for these areas? Any recommendations would be very much appreciated. Cheers

How To Implement Pagination Properly? Important and Urgent!
I have seen many instructions but I am still uncertain. Here is the situation We will be implementing rel prev rel next on our paginted pages. The question is: Do we implement self referencing canonical URL on the main page and each paginated page? Do we implement noindex/follow meta robots tag on each paginated page? Do we include the canonical URL for each paginated page in the sitemap if we do not add the meta robots tag? We have a view all but will not be using it due to page load capabilities...what do we do with the viewl all URL? Do we add meta robots to it? For website search results pages containing pagination should we just put a noindex/follow meta robots tag on them? We have seperate mobile URL's that also contain pagination. Do we need to consider these pages as a seperate pagination project? We already canonical all the mobile URL's to the main page of the desktop URL. Thanks!

Google Mobile Friendly designation in Search results
We have recently deployed a mobile (http://m.pssl.com) version of our desktop website (http://www.pssl.com). We've followed the guidelines in their documentation (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6101188) & (http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2015/04/rolling-out-mobile-friendly-update.html), added the appropriate rel=alternate/rel=canonical tags updated site maps and robots.txt files, etc. A mobile search for our company shows the "mobile-friendly" flag in the search results for our home page, but for some reason other pages such as category and brand are not showing showing as "mobile-friendly". I can submit the pages using the mobile-friendly tester (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/) and all of the pages I test come back as mobile friendly. Does anyone have any experience or advice they'd be willing to share that might help us resolve this issue?

Local Search Results Tanked My 1st Page Ranking
My site was routinely ranking in the top 2-3 in Google for my relevant search terms. Then I started working on my local SEO. Now I'm in the map list at 1-2, but my site no longer shows up with the rest of the search results. I've heard that this has been happening to other local businesses with a big Google presence. I'm thinking that I should create some micro sites for each location listing that gives a location specific intro and then links to my main site. Then I can sever my main site from Google places. Here are my two questions: 1) Is this going to kill my placement in the map results; and, How long will it take for my main site to get back to its 2-3 spot rankings in Google's regular results?

Local Searches done from outside of local area better than searches from within local area
Here's a strange one: I am working on a site for a local business and targeting local searches. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. Various keyword position tools show the site ranking very well for searches like "Anytown Widget Store". Doing the same Google search from a browser in Anytown, the site shows up much lower. So I tried changing the location in Google to other cities, using a variety of browsers and it comes up much higher out of town than in town. I have seen plenty of geographic discrepancies before, but usually they went the other way - searches from the actual local area did slightly better than the same searches done elsewhere, which would make sense. Any thoughts on why this would happen?
