Magento SEO question
-
Hello Moz Community,
I am wondering if these magento settings are correct for seo.
- www.domain.com 301 > www.domain.com/main-language
- www.domain.com/main-language/main-keyword (index & follow)
- www.domain.com/main-language/main-keyword/shopby/size-m (index & follow & canonicalized to www.domain.com/main-language/main-keyword)
- All layered navigation links are no-follow
-
Make sure then that whatever backlink building you do, it'd be for domain.com/language, not just domain.com

Hi Dmitrii,
Thank you for answering.
I'll try to explain why these settings are like this.www.domain.com is a magento shop and the setting "Add Store Code to Urls" is set to yes.
This means my storecodes (which are the languages) are like this:www.domain.com/ned (Dutch, default)
www.domain.com/eng (English)
www.domain.com/deu (German)
www.domain.com/fra (French)To avoid double content between www.domain.com and www.domain.com/ned we use a rewrite rule from "/" to "/ned" in the nginx server settings.

Hi there.
These settings are surely weird, especially first one. Your main domain should be main language and the rest should be linked with hreflang. Therefore #2 and #3 would change. Also navigation links, since they are internal, don't matter if they are follow or nofollow in terms of ranking boost, however, you might be cutting off your inside pages from search engine crawlers, which could lead to indexation problems.
Hope this helps.

.htaccess redirect question
Hi guys and girls Please forgive me for being an apache noob, but I've been trawling for a while now and i can't seem to find a definitive guide for my current scenario. I've walked into a but of a cluster$%*! of a job, to rescue a horribly set up site. One of many, many problems is that they have 132 302redirects set up. Some of these are identical pages but http-https, others are the same but https-http and some are redirects to different content pages with http-http. A uniform redirecting of http to https is not an option so I'm looking to find out the best practice for reconfiguring these 302s to 301s within .htaccess? Thanks in advance 🙂

Seo Yoast Plugin
In Yoast seo plugin, under the general settings is Sitewide meta settings, under which there is an option to either check or leave unchecked Noindex subpages of archives which says: If you want to prevent /page/2/ and further of any archive to show up in the search results, enable this. I am very confuse if to check or not. What is the best seo practice? Most of our posts are in categories which have 2-4 pages.

SEO Impact of IPv4 and iPv6?
Thought I'd see what the asking side of Q&A feels like 😉 We've been hearing for forever that the internet is running out of IP addresses, but I finally encountered the reality of it. I just realized that one of my sites is on a shared IP (hosted by Hosting.com, formerly HostMySite.com). My other sites with them included a unique IP, so I was surprised to discover this. They claim it's due to limitations on their IP allocations. Hosting.com doesn't have the option to buy a unique IP, but some other hosts do. I noticed, though, that many of them are using IPv6 for the new accounts. Has anyone had practical experience with having an IPv6 address and is there any impact on SEO?

Duplicate content question with PDF
Hi, I manage a property listing website which was recently revamped, but which has some on-site optimization weaknesses and issues. For each property listing like http://www.selectcaribbean.com/property/147.html there is an equivalent PDF version spidered by google. The page looks like this http://www.selectcaribbean.com/pdf1.php?pid=147 my question is: Can this create a duplicate content penalty? If yes, should I ban these pages from being spidered by google in the robots.txt or should I make these link nofollow?
