Back to result after manual action revoked
-
Hello, Two weeks ago we got message from Google which said about our reconsideration request has been sucesfuly processed after few months of fight. So, manual action has been revoked but our problem is more complex. Here are flow: 1. 1-01-2012 we got filtered (manual filter - buy link) Here are 100k vistors per day... 2. 7-05-2012 we have problem with budget, hosting, etc.. Before that (after get filter) we get 20k vistors per day.. 3. 12-07-2012 we back Our statistics at this moment: 10-12k vistors per day, so we make 301 from country domain to global *.com 4.12.07-2012 - 1-09-2012 We try make a good reconsideration request without any positive result... Our statistics after 301 redirect are 5k vistors per day, not more. Every day is : 5 000 (+/- 5 %) 5.14-12-2012 Our reconsideration request has been procesed positive, manual action has been revoked but... after two weks from this message we have the same statistics (still are the same traffic source precentages). So whats going on? When will be back to SERP? Thanks! It's very important for us, before we got filter our statistics are permanent good. At this moment we don't see result for "keyword domainame" in TOP 10, only positions > 50 sometimes are normal (1-2 % of queries). Our competition have good statistics all time, their pages are above our results for phrases like: "keyword domainame"

Klarke hit it briefly in his reply. The problem is that you were "artificially" achieving your previous rankings and traffic by means of paid links. Those links are what Google was using algorithmically to value your site for ranking purposes.
When you received the manual links notice from Google (you were discovered using paid links) Google placed a filter on your website AND discounted those paid links. When you removed those paid links to recover from the manual penalty you also FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED the backlink value and overall algorithmic strength of your site in the process.
Bottom line: when Google removed the filter from your website you were left with a much reduced backlink profile that no longer had its previous ranking strength. The result? Lower rankings.
Further, there have been over a dozen algorithmic Panda, Penguin, EMD, Top Heavy and other assorted updates by Google during the course of 2012. Any of them could have also adversely affected your sites' natural ranking profile.
If you haven't done so, head over to the www.panguintool.com and compare your site accordingly against the more notable updates. That will allow you to pinpoint if and where you were affected so you can make necessary content or backlink changes as needed.
I hope that helps. Otherwise, drop me a note for a full penalty site audit and we can go from there.
Happy Holidays and good luck!

You've no doubt removed alot of links that might have been helping you rank as well as did before. That may very well be why you haven't regained much of that traffic.
Another reason might be, the site is still under an algo filter like Penguin. The links you removed may have been enough for the manual reviewer, but not enough for Penguin. Or maybe it's enough for Penguin, but since it hasn't been refreshed since October ..you can't recover yet.

Are links from inside duplicate content on a 3rd party site pointing back to you worthwhile.
In our niche there are lots of specialist 'profile / portfolio' sites were we can upload content (usually project case studies. These are often quite big and active networks and can drive decent traffic and provide links from high ranking pages. The issue im a bit stuck on is - because they are profile / portfolio based usually its the same content uploaded to each site. But im beginning to get the feeling that these links from within duplicate content although from high ranking sites are not having an effect. Im about to embark on a campaign to re rewrite each of our portfolio items (each one c. 400 words c. 10 times) for each different site, but before i do i wandered if any one has had any experience / a point of view on with wether Google is not valuing links from within duplicate content (bare in mind these arnt spam sites, and are very reputable, mainly because once you submit the content it gets reviewed prior to going live). And wether a unique rewrite of the content solves this issue.

Timing of actions
Hi Just got a question looking at the general timing of events and wanting to know what is the norm. I've seen on here recently talk of eBay losing ranking in the last few days, and here in the UK news, we have had info today of security issues at the company stemming from being hacked late Feb - early March. Are those two events linked? If so, what is the mechanism by which google would affect the ranking of an established company like this, for an issue like that? And more generally, what are the typical timings of cause and effect with regards to google responding with demoting rank for more general issues? Thanks in advance...... tom

Our root domain is no longer appearing in search results
Hi all The root domain for our site, roadtrippers.com, has been disappearing from Google's search results. Subfolders and subdomains still appear, but our root domain isn't found at all. I believe I've verified this by searching "-inurl:trips -inurl:byways -inurl:support -inurl:blog -inurl:places -inurl:guides -inurl:destinations site:https://roadtrippers.com/" in Google and our root domain is nowhere to be found. This may or may not be related to another issue we've had, where the root domain is appearing with a seemingly rotating set of parameters. Sometimes it'll be ?mod=, sometimes it'll be ?tag=translation. Originally they appeared to simply displace our ranking root domain, but now they and our root domain are completely disappearing. Our dev team believes they fixed the problem with recent 301 tags to any unapproved parameter being added to the root domain, but this hasn't fixed the original problem. Any insight into this is greatly appreciated! Brandon

Getting listed in the Google local result - help!
Good day, I'm really struggling to get a client to appear in the Google Local map snapshot (on the right of the SERPs), even when their company name is Googled. I've tried everything including getting the main Google Local account verified, had some reviews put up, all the required and relevant info has been completed, yet their location and the map never appear. Any help out there as to how I can remedy this? Thanks

Why is there no compiled list of the different types of search results on Google, and what the content qualifications are to generate those results?
Seems to me that this list should exist out there somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Am I just not as good of a Googler as I thought I was?

Why does my Rank Checker result differ to SERPs
Hello SEOmoz members I've got yet another naive question for you. RankChecker is telling me that my client has risen to pg 1 position 7. Whilst SERPs is telling me they are still on position 14. I know that SERPs is variable depending on many factors, but this holds true for separate searches on other computers in various far flung locations. Please give me some insight into what is happening. I'm waiting to open the bubbly! Thanks

How do I get the expanded results in a Google search?
I notice for certain site (ex: mint.com) that when I search, the top result has a very detailed view with options to click to different subsections of the site. However for my site, even though we're consistently the top result for our branded terms, the result is still only a single line item. How do I adjust this?
