How do i best utilize my exact keyword match domain names as landing pages?
-
I own mutiple exact keyword match domain names which I would like to utilize as landing pages for my business.I would like to know if it would be best to host each page as a seperte website?or would it be best to simply link the domain name thorugh the domain registrar to an already exisiting page on the main website.
example: cheapshoes.com --> www.thebestshoes.com/cheapshoes
I would like to do this in the most seo friendly manner so that the exact keyword domain is ranked within google without losing any PR.
Which method is best?
and what type of linking should be used through the domin registrar?

To get the most out of them SEO wise, my recommendation is to develop them in to full blown websites. 15-20 pages of unique content related to the topic. After developing these "micro" sites, they will bring in a lot of traffic not on for the exact keyword, but long tail as well.
I know this sounds like a lot of work, especially if your main site is not very big, but this is how you're going to get "the most" out of them.

An informational product page AND a shop page (for same brand)
Hi all, This is my first foray into e-commerce SEO. I'm working with a new client who sells upscale eBikes online. Since his products are expensive, he wants to have informational pages about the brands he sells eg. www.example.com/brand. However these brands are also category pages for his online shop eg. www.example.com/shop/brand I'm worried about keyword cannibalization and adding an extra step/click to get to the shop (right now the navigational menu takes you to the information page and from there you have to click to get to the shop) I'm pretty sure it would make more sense to have ONE killer shopping page that includes all the brand information but I want to be 100% sure before I advise him to take this big step. Thoughts?

Change e-commerce platform and domain name SEO issue.
Hi, We are looking to switch from Bigcommerce to either Magento or Shopify, but we have some concern about the redirecting of all URL and not sure where to help. Also, we are looking to remove "hyphen" www.ide-home.com.au in our domain name, again it is all about 301 redirecting. We need SEO expert to help us with all changes that minimize the effect on Google. Does anyone can suggest which company or who we can ask for help? Thanks very much.

Best practice for Landing page in Wordpress
Hi Mozers, has anyone experience in setting up landing pages with Wordpress? The problem I want to solve is the following: I work with a membership area like SEOmoz in which I have some bigger plugins running. If i make a landing page in the same installation like a custom post type/template or via another plugin like "Premise" all plugins will automatically load as well. That will harm my page loading time. Do you think, I should work maybe with Wordpress Multisites? Landing pages as a separate blog and the membership area as another blog? Appreciate any good idea! Thanks

Domain stuck at end of SERPs for main keywords
I'm trying to figure out why a site has been stuck at the end of the SERPs for almost a year. On August 5, 2011 the site went from getting 1,400 visits per day from Google down to 20 visits a day from Google. For the keywords it ranked on the first page for it went to the last page in the SERPs. With Panda and Penguin, it probably wouldn't rank like it used to, but it seems to be stuck in some sort of domain wide penalty that pins it to the end of the SERPs. Even when completely new content will show up at the end of the SERPs, which makes me think it's stuck in some sort of filter. Thanks in advance for any constructive ideas. What's the best format for a e-commerce URL product page
We have over 2000 non branded experiences and activities sold through our website. The website is having a face lift with the a new look and a stronger focus on SEO. As part of this, I am keen to establish what the best practice is for product based URLs. I've researched the market and come up with a few alternatives that are used: domain/category/subcategory/activity_name domain/activity_name/category/subcategory/activity_reference domain/generic_term/activity_reference/activity_name domain/category/activity_location/activity_name Activities are location based but the location can change (say once every 2 years). Activity names, category, subcategory and activity_reference rarely change. Are there any thoughts/ research on the best method? (If there is one) Many thanks in advance for your insights.

If I point a domain name to a new faster server, will I lose some keyword ranking?
I'm redesigning a client's site, breaking up content into separate pages and moving the site to a managed server keeping the same domain name. Will I lose any link juice or keyword ranking for site even if I 301 redirect the old pages to the new titled pages?

How similar do pages need to be in order to utilize the canonical tag
Here is my specific situation. My company released new versions of a few documents in the fall. I was hoping that over time the old version would decline and the new version would rise but after 6 months the old version continues to rank #1 and the new version #3. The old version needs to stay on our site but users should really be getting to the most recent version. I think utilizing the canonical tag would solve the issue but i am concerned because the content on the actual pages is not duplicate but it is updated. Below are the two URLs to see the differences in the content. http://www.sei.cmu.edu/library/abstracts/reports/06tr008.cfm http://www.sei.cmu.edu/library/abstracts/reports/10tr033.cfm Is this an appropriate situation to use the canonical tag? If not, is there a better solution.
