Web designer doesn't see duplicate pages or issues??? Help!
-
I have a website that has duplicate pages, and I want to fix them. I told my web guy and his response was:
"we do not see any issues on our end. It is not hurting any ranking in the 3 major searches. We have no duplicate pages"
Here's the site http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/
Here's the home page again http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/index.php
Here's what MOZ say: Please see attached image.
I'm not sure what to tell him, as i'm not a web person, but MOZ is telling me we have issues on the site and I feel like they should be fixed??

Best of luck, feel free to send me an email (or message on here) if you need me to go any further into detail.

I'm now well armed to go back to him and ask again for him to make these changes.
Hopefully he'll listen to me this time! Though I'm now thinking I need a new guy...
Thanks Thomas!

Thank you Laura, you've given me a clearer understanding of what I need to say to him. I do think I need a new guy though..

Your web developer is wrong. You do have multiple version of the homepage
You have the following:
http://wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/index.php
http://wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/
http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/index.php
http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/
I would first of all get your web developer to do a http:// to http://www. redirect across your whole site, so whenever any user lands on your site they atleast get put onto the same version.
As for with/without index.php you are getting these duplicates, I would ask the web developer to remove any references to index.php and just refer specifically to http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/ whilst also setting a canonical within the index.php to http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/
If your developer tries to fight this I would look for a new developer.
Just had a quick look through the site, your developer looks to be being lazy. https://gtmetrix.com/reports/wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/I6khUBrH under serve scaled images, they haven't bothered to resize it and that's making your website load slower.
http://wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/images/img0018.png is just a lazy way of naming images.

Yes, this is a duplicate problem when it comes to SEO. This is an issue for two reasons:
1. Search engines see these as two different URLs even though they point to the same page. They probably understand that it's the same page but not necessarily. The correct way to handle this would be to 301-redirect http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/index.php to http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/. (If your designer doesn't know how to do this, you need a new web designer.)
2. This is also a problem because any backlinks may be split between the two URLs even though they are the same page. This will be fixed by the 301-redirect as well.

Duplicate 'meta title' issue (AMP & NON-AMP Pages)
how to fix duplicate meta title issue in amp and non-amp pages? example.com
On-Page Optimization | | 21centuryweb
example.com/amp We have set the 'meta title' in desktop version & we don't want to change the title for AMP page as we have more than 10K pages on the website. ----As per SEMRUSH Tool---- ABOUT THIS ISSUE It is a bad idea to duplicate your title tag content in your first-level header. If your page’s <title>and <h1> tags match, the latter may appear over-optimized to search engines. Also, using the same content in titles and headers means a lost opportunity to incorporate other relevant keywords for your page.</p> <p><strong>HOW TO FIX IT</strong></p> <p>Try to create different content for your <title> and <h1> tags.<br /><br />this is what they are recommending, for the above issue we have asked our team to create unique meta and post title for desktop version but what about AMP page?<br /><br />Please help!</p></title>0 -

Duplicate Page Content
Hi, I am new to the MOZ Pro community. I got the below message for many of my pages. We have a video site so all content in the page except the video link would be different. How can i handle such pages. Can we place adsense AD's on these pages? Duplicate Page Content Code and content on this page looks similar or identical to code and content on other pages on your site. Search engines may not know which pages are best to include in their index and rankings. Common fixes for this issue include 301 redirects, using the rel=canonical tag, and using the Parameter handling tool in Google Webmaster Central. For more information on duplicate content, visit http://moz.com/learn/seo/duplicate-content. Please help me to know how to handle this.. Regards

Long list of companies spread out over several pages - duplicate content?
Hi all, I am currently working with a company formation agent. They have a list of every limited company spread over hundreds of pages. What do you guys think? Is there a need for Canonicals? The website is ranking pretty well but I want to make sure there aren't any problems in the future. Here are two pages as examples: http://www.formationsdirect.com/companysearchlist.aspx?start=MULLAGHBOY+CONSTRUCTION+LIMITED&next=1# http://www.formationsdirect.com/companysearchlist.aspx?start=%40a+company+limited&next=1# Also what about the actual company pages? See an example below http://www.formationsdirect.com/companysearchlist.aspx?name=AMNA+CONSTRUCTION+LTD&number=06630333#.U8PW6_ldX1s Thanks in advance Aaron

How to properly remove pages and a category from Google's index
I want to remove this category http://www.webdesign.org/web-design-news-all/ and all the pages in that category (e.g. http://www.webdesign.org/web-design-news-all/7386.html ) from Google's index. I used the following string in the "Reomval URS" section in Google Webmaster Tools: http://www.webdesign.org/web-design-news-all/* is that correct or I better use http://www.webdesign.org/web-design-news-all/ ? Thanks in advance.

Does Google look at page design
Hi everybody, At the moment i'm creating several webshops and websites with the same layout, so visitors can recognize the websites are from the same company. But i was wondering: Does google look at the layout of a webpage that it's not a copy of another website? This because loads of website have the same wordpress/joomla templates etc, or doesn't this effect rankingpositions? Thank you,

Duplicate Page Title
Hi Guys, First off, it's an honour to be a part of this awesome community. I'm using WordPress and getting top 3 rankings for great keywords and I'm very excited, however my page titles are in this format "keyword optimised title here - site name here" eg: "This is my keyword - this is the name of my blog", "This is another keyword - this is the name of my blog", "This is a longtail keyword - this is the name of my blog" SEOMoz is reporting errors because of duplicate page title tags due to the "this is the name of my blog" being in every page title. Will this hurt my rankings? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work! Cheers, Troy.

Does Google still see masked domains as duplicate content?
Older reads state the domain forwarding or masking will create duplicate content but Google has evolved quite a bit and I'm wondering if that is still the case? Not suggesting that a 301 is not the proper way to redirect something but my question is: Does Google still see masked domains as duplicate content? Is there any viable use for domain masking other than for affiliates?
