Anyone used Synup recently?
-
They are now promoting themselves as an alternative to Yext. In theory it sounds good, as it includes listings management that publish updates within 72 hours, along with review monitoring and notifications. I'm wondering if they live up to their pitch.
-
Hi Ira,
I was curious what your thoughts were about Synup? I am thinking about signing up and was curious how your experience was.
Thanks,
Errick -
Hi Ira,
So sorry, no email reporting. Maybe at some point! I can see how that would be helpful.
-
Interesting, I was not aware of that... but unless the info on that page is out of date, the ability to send email notifications on new reviews is not included yet, and that is critical to my clients. Definitely getting better though!
Overall, it is nice that we are getting more legitimate options for assisting with all phases of the directory listing and review process.

Hi Ira!
Were you aware that Moz Search Insights is a product you can add on to Moz Local that includes review data? You might like to check this out before you sign up with Synup (haha!)
-
Thanks (as always) Miriam.
Those are helpful, and I'm going to be testing Synup soon. I'll report back here when I have an opinion.
One big reason I'm looking into them is that they combine review monitoring, which I currently pay another company for, with the listings service. The lack of ability to monitor reviews is why Moz Local isn't a very good fit for my needs.

Hey Ira,
I believe some of the commentary on that thread is from just last year, so that's fairly recent. Here's a review from 2016:
http://hubbion.com/reviews/synup/
And here's a 2016 comparison chart that might help: http://localseochecklist.org/citation-submission-services/
So sorry not to have first-hand experience with this.
-
Thanks Miriam. I'd seen that thread, was hoping for something more recent. Seems like they are going beyond what Moz Local offers, but I'm definitely concerned with the lack of any recent reviews or reports on their value.

Hi Ira,
You might find this thread over at Linda Buquet's forum helpful: http://www.localsearchforum.com/local-seo-tools-software/19078-need-opinions-about-synup-com.html
It ranges from 2014-2015 with people's ongoing opinions of this product.
I hope someone here in our forum might be able to give you a first-hand account of how they like this product, but then again, we may have a lot of Moz Local customers here

Domain now being used for a different purpose (how to deal with previous links!)
I managed to snap up a domain last October that was previously being used by people to create online resumes. On this domain I have created a site that allows businesses to have a short web address that they then use to send their customers to. This short address displays a list of review sites that the customers can choose from to leave a review on the business, ie GMB, Facebook (basically any established reviews site) etc.

The problem I have is that there are so many old links that are pointing to the site referencing the previous resume business and I have three issues: Many people blindly sign up thinking it’s the resume business because they read it on another site who’s link they followed. The sites that list my domain are mainly job or resume related sites. I have the previous business customers still with their personalised links leading back to the site that I currently 404. The site in question is https://re.vu Any assistance or advice would be gratefully received.1 -
Does anyone use an embeddable Google review widget?
Currently, I use an embeddable Yelp review widget on my site. The widget I use has been helpful, but is no longer actively maintained and I'd prefer to show Google reviews instead. Does anyone have a recommendation for a widget to embed Google reviews?

Want to use Google Business Pages but Spam Reviews are putting me off
Not sure if I am missing something here...I have phoned and asked Google business how they deal with reviews which are potentially fake and damaging to a business reputation, it seems there is very little a small local business can do about them other than report the review with no guarantee of anyone helping ...Has anyone else had this issue as I would really like to use this service to assist with rankings on google? It is hard to convince (and to be honest I don't want to have to convince!) a local business that this is a good service at the same time as informing them they will more than likely have to spend extra time fending off fake reviews...Not seen any good answers anywhere else, ignoring the reviews, adding more positive reviews or replying/managing reviews are not an option. Hope someone can help with this, thanks

How useful is Google Plus to a business?
Is Google Plus really very beneficial to a business, as our experience is that this is where difficult customers or even competitors can write bad reviews?

Started using a 3rd Party Review Company for our Website. Do we need to show the reviews or is a widget (badge) with a link back to review company sufficient enough from an SEO ranking point of view?
Hi All, We have started to use a 3rd party review company and now have the choice of either implementing their re-supplied widgets (Java ) on our site showing customer reviews or use their an API to get this information. The widgets (Java) , would be loaded once the page is actually loaded so I am not sure how and if google will read this information if at all? If we use a widget then we won't be able to implement it with Schema.org although we will be able to use rich snippets to it will appear on any PPC (once we have had 30 reviews). If we go down the API route, it's more expensive for us but we can use the review schema.org for this. Does anyone have any experience of what works best for them ?.. We have a choice of having a widget showing latest reviews or just a badge (which is actually a link to the review site showing our reviews). From an SEO point of view, is one better than the other ? Does google actually read the content of the review or is the link back to the 3rd party review company sufficient enough to help with rankings etc. Am I correct in assuming that by linking to a 3rd party review company and showing our reviews on our site , this will help with rankings as even though the content in the reviews doesn't really say much ,. I did see it was a ranking factor on the survey but not sure how google uses this. ? I've read up some information on reviews etc but wondered what the general consensus was with what others found works best for them Any help greatly appreciated Pete
