Issues with sitelnks anchor text
-
Hi Everyone,
I'm currently running a job classified ad site, and having some problems with my brand site links. So in short, when I type my brand some sitelinks appear which is OK, but there is one that has the anchor text as "1", yep just a number one, as far as I know, Google takes the anchor text from internal linking, and since this the landing page for my search site.com/search-jobs I don't want to demote it.
Now I started checking why the number "1" is actually showing and I figured it out it might be due to pagination, since the search results (?=page2, ?=page3, etc) were all linking from the bottom numbers to site.com/search-jobs with the almighty number 1, I took a decision on changing that link to site.com/search-jobs?page=1 and adding a canonical tag to the landing page to avoid duplicated content.
The solution worked for a few days for private sessions only (anchor text was Search for jobs in Peru), but after that number 1 came back and I can't figure it out how to change it, tried to update the cache on search console on most pages that still had the previous version but to no avail.
My boss and I are trying to fix this issue but no luck yet, should I update all of my pages' cache?, any help would be much appreciated.

Well It seems I can't no longer demote the link since as today the option has been removed from google console.
Cheers.

Hi Everyone,
We are taking the demote option since I couldn't find another way to change the sitelink anchor text.
Thanks everyone.

Sure, I just added the image, is not about the position instead is the anchor text that is bugging me.
My landing search page anchor text is "1" in the sitelinks, and I want to change to something more like the title's page.
Thanks.

Hello,
Are you seeing an internal site link as the first result for your brand search? I'm a little confused, would you mind attaching an image of what you're seeing?
Thanks!

Historic issue with incomplete indexing
Hi there We run quite a big site in the UK in the commercial real-estate space. Historically we have always had a challenge getting our "primary" landing pages indexed, which are location based property result pages. e.g. https://realla.co/to-rent/commercial-property/oxford For example, for the "towns" category we have 8,549 submitted in our xml sitemap, with only 3,171 indexed. This is a general issue across all our sitemaps. 120k submitted, 80k indexed. Our pages are linked through breadcrumbs, and nearby links. In the new search console these pages are reported as "crawled - currently not indexed" These all sit under the folder: site:https://realla.co/to-rent/commercial-property/* site:https://realla.co/to-rent/office/* We have done extensive work to optimise performance, including AMP pages. Each location page has many details pages for individual properties e.g. https://realla.co/to-rent/details/0ffbbd0a1a1147edb8847c5ce6179509 One action we have remaining is to nest the details under the locations pages, which may help. These details pages are indexed fully. Any feedback much appreciated

Does a number of products in anchor text (link to product list page) have any influence on SEO?
For example: shower cabins (660), used in our onpage-navigation which links to a product list page.

Duplicate content issue with trailing / ?
Hi ,I did a SEOmoz Crawl Test and found most pages show twice, for example: A: www.website.com/index.php/dog/walk B: www.website.com/index.php/dog/walk/ I've checked Google Analytics and 90% of organic search traffic arrives on the URLs with the trailing slash (B). Question 1: Can I assume I've a duplicate content problem? Question 2: Is it best to do 301 redirects from the 'non trailing slash' pages to the 'trailing slash pages'? Question 3: For some reason every web page has a '/index.php' in it (see A&B) above. No idea why. Should it be a SEO concern? Kind regards and thank you in advance Nigel

Penality issues
Hi there, I'm working on site that has been badly hit by penguin. The reasons are clear, exact match blog network links and tons of spammy exact match links such as comment spam, low quality directories, the usual junk. The spammy links were mainly to 2 pages, they were targetting keyword 1 and keyword 2. I'd like to remove these two pages from google, as they dont even rank in google now and create one high quality page that targets both the keywords, as they are similar. The dilemma I have is these spammy pages still get traffic from bing and yahoo and it's profitable traffic. Is there a safe way to remove the pages from google and leave them for bing and yahoo? Duplicate content issues with australian and us version of website
Good afternoon. I've tried searching for an answer to the following question but I believe my circumstance is a little different than what has been asked in the past. I currently run a Australian website targeted at a specific demographic (50-75) and we produce a LARGE number of articles on a wide variety of lifestyle segments. All of our focus up until now has been in Australia and our SEO and language is dedicated towards this. The next logical step in my mind is to launch a mirror website targeted at the US market. This website would be a simple mirror of a large number of articles (1000+) on subjects such as Food, Health, Travel, Money and Technology. Our current CMS has no problems in duplicating the specific items over and sharing everything, the problem is in the fact that we currently use a .com.au domain and the .com domain in unavailable and not for sale, which would mean we have to create a new name for the US targeted domain. The question is, how will mirroring this information, targeted towards US, affect us on Google and would we better off getting a large number of these articles 're-written' by a company on freelancer.com etc? Thanks,

OnPage Issues with UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1
Hi guys, I hope somebody can help me figure this out. On one of my sites I set the charset to UTF-8 in the content-type meta-tag. The file itself is also UTF-8. If I type german special chars like ä, ö, ß and the like they get displayed as a tilted square with a questionmark inside. If I change the charset to iso-8859-1 they are getting displayed properly in the browser but services like twitter are still having the issues and stop "importing" content once they reach one of those specialchars. I would like to avoid having to htmlencode all on-page content, so my preference would be using UTF-8.. You can see it in action when you visit this URL for example: http://www.skgbickenbach.de/aktive/1b/artikel/40-minuten-fußball-reichen-nicht_1045?charset=utf-8 Remove the ?charset parameter and the charset it set to iso-8859-1. Hope somebody has an answer or can push me into the right direction. Thanks in advance and have a great day all. Jan
