What's the world's best hosting?
-
Hello folks,
I'm looking at hosting options. In your opinion, what's the best provider out there and why?
Cheers,
Gill.
-
Thanks Andy, I'll take a look.

Worth having a look at Siteground Gill. This is who I use and they specialise in Wordpress and Magenta hosting. Find them here.
I personally find them very fast, amazing support, great value and dedicated hosting. I also find that the integration is very easy to manage with CloudFlare and it all just works.
Certainly worth looking at.

Hi Andy,
Sorry yes, very vague of me.
- What is your budget
No limit as long as the solution is the best.
- What sort of site
A mix of around 6 sites, two in real estate, the others are mixed in terms of industry.
- How much traffic is expected
Not masses at the moment. Â Say 10K per month per site max.
- What is powering the site? (Wordpress, Drupal, etc)
Magento for the main one. Some Wordpress.
- Redundancy requirement?
Not sure what this is?
- Speed requirements?
Not sure how to answer. Fast!
- Backups required?
Yes.
Thanks,
Gill.

The Worlds best hosting? That's a loaded question
- What is your budget

- What is powering the site? (Wordpress, Drupal, etc)
- Redundancy requirement?
- Speed requirements?
- Backups required?
Probably lots of other questions too. Some people love AWS but personally I don't like it that much.

Directing a domain.com/BLOG to a different host
Hello,
Web Design | | SharonEKG
i cant seem to figure out how to approach this matter. we have a website and a domain setup in one place and we wanted to setup a blog for that website on a different hosting, what do i have to do to link between the two to make it so when a user type domain com /blog he will get to our blog that is hosted on a different hosting plan? with the blog hosting plan we received a temporary domain that does not expire but i have been told that if i redirect to that temporary domain it wont work correctly also, if we do manage to go through that process will accessing the blog will the URL show domain com/blog or will still show the temporary given domain? is my only option is buying a new domain and just link between the two? Thanks!0 -
Does having too many wordpress portfolio pages with little content hurt a site's SEO?
I have a site that is for a service company, not image based like a photographer or artist. We utilize the Portfolio feature to create a gallery of floor coating finishes (images of all the flooring finish options available) but this solution has created /portfolio/file-name pages for each image. These pages have no other content besides the image. I've run SEMrush audits on this site which shows a high percentage of pages with low text/code ratio and duplicate content (a lot of the finishes have very similar names). This site has been extremely slow to improve any visibility online (more than 9 months) and I'm wondering if this is a factor by possibly having a negative effect on our site. We initially chose the portfolio option because it was the best-looking solution for our users but we can certainly change it to another format if that is better. Thanks!

Multiple Similar Product Variations - Page layout, Title and SEO best practice??
Im doing some research into SEO for our new web design. I sell designer eyewear prescription and sunglasses. Lets take a Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglass it comes in 30 colours and 3 sizes for each model. Up till now i was of the impression that for best practice SEO i would need to have each individual variation as its own page, this would also help with things like google shopping too. So for example heres 1 colour product in 3 sizes of 30 colour variations for this particular model. Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140Â

Colour: Black 901Â
Sizes: 47, 50, 54 Currently my urls looks like this with a new page and the size changing on the end for each variation. Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140 - Black 901 - 47 URL:Â www.mywebsite.com/ray-ban-wayfarer-rb2140.html?colour=Black+901&size=47 Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140 - Black 901 - 50 URL:Â www.mywebsite.com/ray-ban-wayfarer-rb2140.html?colour=Black+901&size=50 Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140 - Black 901 - 54 URL:Â www.mywebsite.com/ray-ban-wayfarer-rb2140.html?colour=Black+901&size=54 This is very time consuming and I'm not sure if its adding any benefit to my SEO in fact scared its actually a) slowing my site down (content heavy)Â
b) looking like duplicate content I am thinking about moving towards a page more like this were it would be just be a model with variations. (not effecting the title/getting a new page per variation) http://demoleotheme.com/vigoss/index.php/atomic-endurance-running-tee-crew-neck.html I am not sure of the pros and cons of doing it this way over the way I'm doing it currently all i know is my site is ranking horribly. Lastly I'm currently running a magento V1.9 store which is renowned for duplicate content slow site speeds etc so have been told moving to woo commerce would benefit me for both site performance and seo but I'm skeptical as currently with this structure of a each SKU being a new page il be up to 8000+ products and multiple product variations that it can handle my needs, anyone with any experience on woo commerce platform? (this might be a operate question apologise) This is absolutely frying my brain so any advice appreciated. Im prepared to put every dying second into just need some solid advice in which direction to go!0 -
Why aren't Images in G+ product page posts showing up in SERPs for brand searches?
Before 1-2 weeks ago, our G+ posts containing links to our product pages would show up in in SERPs (when searching for our brand name) with a thumbnail of the product image. Now, they do not  (see image below for visual). Our tech team confirmed there hasn't been any coding change that might be to blame and I see that this isn't happening to other sites. Any idea what may be the problem here? tcnhLgy

What does it mean that "too many links" show up in my report - but I'm not seeing them?
I've noticed that on the crawl report for my site, www.imageworkscreative.com, "too many links" is showing up as a chronic problem. Reviewing the pages cited as having this issue, I don't see more than 100 links. I've read that sometimes, websites are unintentionally cloaking their links, and I am concerned that this is what might be happening on my site. Some example pages from my crawl report are: http://www.imageworkscreative.com/blog/, http://www.imageworkscreative.com/blog/10-steps-seo-and-sem-success/index.html, and http://www.imageworkscreative.com/blog/business-objectives-vs-user-experience/index.html. Am I having a cloaking issue or is something else going on here? Any insight is appreciated!

Is the server or host a metric for SERPs? Amazon Webstore a plus?
Hello Friends, I have been pondering a question that I bet Ben or some of the other clever folks this list will know. Do the search engines give a preference to sites hosted and served from larger companies like Amazon? With an Amazom Webstore, it would have our domain name but Amazon would supply much of the structure and back end like card processing and check out. Could having amazon as the server be an indicator of better results in the SERPS similar to having a stronger Domain Authority? Are there any draw backs for optimization when using an Amazon Webstore? Thank you. QP
