Is Moz Local useful for a specialized small business?
-
I can see the use of Moz Local for businesses for the general public, like a restaurant. But is it useful for a more specialized business like a recording studio? The studio ranks high on Google already for our city (usually #1 but some days #2). It's not like people are driving around and grab their phone to look up an emergency recording studio stop. Is it useful?

Hi Amy,
Thank you so much for considering Moz Local. Kevin has done a good job of summarizing the main reason a business might choose Moz Local - it's always important to manage your location data, and this is what Moz Local primarily does. The product ensures that you've got correct and complete information on the most important local business data sources. It also enables you to track, for example, how users are actually interacting with your Google My Business listing (like clicks-to-call, clicks for directions, clicks to your website) and alerts you to incoming reviews on a variety of platforms. Moz Local is also a life-saver if your business re-brands, moves or changes other basic data, enabling you to get all the platforms updated in a single step (instead of having to edit all your listings manually, which is a major pain!). You can see a full list of features here: https://moz.com/local/features
As for leads, yes, we have seen leads increase in some case studies we've been doing, but that's not something we can guarantee, as each business' competitive scenario is unique. Please, let me know if you have any further questions about the product. I'm happy to keep chatting.

Thanks for the response, Brett. By "useful" I mean ultimately an increase in leads. I'm not sure if people look us up in those ways. But I think I'm going to give Moz Local a try as the price is low and it certainly can't hurt. I believe it also can boost SEO some as it further legitimizes our business.

Define "useful". What business outcome are you hoping to achieve with it? If your intent is to get your business onto a host of local directories, then it's useful. If you want to ensure you have a good position in the map pack and local organic SERP, then it's useful.
If you're already ranking highly in spot #1 and #2 and don't care to be on directories, then maybe it's not the tool for you. It's a relatively small expense, and I think having accurate NAP+W information around the web can only be of benefit to your business, so I would recommend it. However it really depends on your budget and what outcome you hope to achieve. I don't expect it to generate a ton of leads for you.

Thank you, Kevin! That's good to know. I might give it a try!

It works for us, we're a custom sign shop and commercial printer. I believe managing your NAP is always important an ML helps me this that. We recently upgraded!

Two Google My Business accounts for two companies at same address
I have a client (flat roofing) with two registered businesses both of which are based from the same address, upon trying to create a new GMB account for the second business, it was immediately suspended by Google. So somewhat unsurprisingly one address one business, but is there a way around this?

Evidence that high organic rankings impact positioning in the Google local pack?
I'm looking for articles/evidence that if you have a high ranking organic listing that it will improve your chances of being in the local pack. I came across this about a year ago, but I have had trouble finding articles to support this. Does anybody know of any recent articles and/or studies that show a correlation of high organic listings and local pack visibility? Thanks!

???? "Google My Business", Search Console, Google Webmaster Tools
I added a Google+ Page for my business several years ago. Now when I click on "Search Console" within Webmaster Tools it is asking me to provide business information that I entered several years ago for Google+. Is this normal? Should I fill it out? It seems that this info is redundant with what I filled out for Google+. When I enter the name of my business (Metro Manhattan Office Space, Inc. ) in Google, a listing appears to the right, so it seems that Google already has my details. Thanks,

Adding new business location. Google My Businesses vs. Google Map Maker
Hi everybody, Adding new business location. Is it better for local visibility to add it via Google My Businesses dashboard directly or via Google Map Maker first (and then claim it in My Businesses dashboard)? Thanks

How valuable are citaitons/consistency (Moz Local) for a NON-local business?
Hi All! I'm doing some research for non-local SEO clients and finding that many of them have messy and extremely inconsistent listing profiles (via Moz Local checker). It seems to me that this would be a good thing to take care of, even for a non local site. Anyone have insights on whether or not this is something we should take care of? If so, any details on how or why it would or would not be a good idea? Thanks! Ricky

How does google choose the local searches?
In a larger city (london for example) when there are dozens of one specific industry, how does Google choose who to show in their local results? For example if I type "solicitor london" it shows me 7 local results, but I know there are far more than 7 solicitors in London. Do they change as frequently as the rest of the serps or is there something you can do to ensure you get in that local search? Added to this, does being part of a chain/franchise make a difference? Help/thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

'People Also Searched for' appears on some but not all local businesses, why? (Google Local Knowledge Panel)
I have a client who does not want the 'People Also Searched for' section on the Google Local Knowledge Panel to appear. I informed her that this is a standard part of the search presentation and that we cannot change. She then pointed out that the 'People also searched for' does not appear on her competitors' Google Local Knowledge Panels. (See the attachment for comparison) This raises a couple of questions: Why are the local businesses different? Can I change the content of her panel? I would appreciate any feedback. google-local.jpg
