I wondered if there had been any other insights since March about the Fred update or any other Google update?

I don't think we were hit by Fred but in March we dropped out for a lot of keyword rankings, I just cannot pinpoint why.

We are an ecommerce site, so some of our product/category pages don't have a huge amount of written content.

We might have a couple of extra backlinks to disavow, but nothing major.

Does anyone else have any insights?

I don't know of any further updates about Fred other than what is here:

However, over the last week (Mid May) there has been a lot of noise and fluctuation according to many sources.

Let us know if there is anything we can learn by what you find out. Happy to discuss further if you share some details, but it would not be uncommon for Google to decide to push thin eCommerce pages down.

Does Google crawler understand & flag a blog post has text asserting sponsorship with dofollow outbound link?

I kind of know the answer, but just wanted to get some feedback from others. For the sake of argument, assume there are no other issues with the linking blog, such as: too many ads, thin content, etc. Question: If you make a payment for a blog post with a dofollow link, and in the blog post there is something to the effect of: "this post has been sponsored by..." Will Google crawlers detect that and flag that as an unnatural link?

Internal Links & Possible Duplicate Content

Hello, I have a website which from February 6 is keep losing positions. I have not received any manual actions in the Search Console. However I have read the following article a few weeks ago and it look a lot with my case: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-cut-down-on-similar-content-pages-25223.html I noticed that google has remove from indexing 44 out of the 182 pages of my website. The pages that have been removed can be considered as similar like the website that is mentioned in the article above. The problem is that there are about 100 pages that are similar to these. It is about pages that describe the cabins of various cruise ships, that contain one picture and one sentence of max 10 words. So, in terms of humans this is not duplicate content but what about the engine, having in mind that sometimes that little sentence can be the same? And let’s say that I remove all these pages and present the cabin details in one page, instead of 15 for example, dynamically and that reduces that size of the website from 180 pages to 50 or so, how will this affect the SEO concerning the internal links issue? Ecommerce sites we own have similar products, is this OK?

Hello, In one of our niches, we have a big site with all products and a couple more sites that are smaller niches of the same niche. The product descriptions are different with different product names. Is this OK. We've got one big site and 2 smaller subsides in different niches that cross over with the big site. Let me know if Google is OK with this. We will have a separate blog for each with completely different content. There's not really duplicate content issues and although only the big site has a blog right now, the small ones eventually will have their own unique blog. Is this OK in Google's eyes now and in the future? What can we do to ensure we are OK? Thank you.

Nov 19th & 20th Update?

Did anyone see any big changes around Nov 19th & 20th? Mozcast had some high temps around there. If you saw any big changes in organic search, any ideas WTH that was all about? Any guesses? One site I work with took about a 15% hit and has since sort of skidded sideways.

Ajax Pagination on Ecommerce category pages - Good or Bad?

We have an ecommerce site. We installed an AJAX feature that when you scroll down to say, the end of 6 rows of products, it loads another page below the seam. Question is, is this good or bad for SEO? Any tests you can suggest? Thanks Ben

Partial Match Penalty Site - Move Portion & Redirect To New Site

So I have a site that currently has a partial match penalty from google, I have been working to get it removed...Bad SEO basically my site was submitted to a bunch of bad blog networks..Hopefully it gets lifted soon as we remove and disavow links. That said I was planning on moving a portion of my site to a new site since its not really the focus of the site anymore however still pays the bills. I have also have been building it more of a network of sites..So If I do that and 301 redirect the pages I moved, will the penalty carry? On the current site I planned on using Rel no follow to any links that I may change in the header/menus etc.. Some of these pages I believe have the penalty while others dont. I really just dont want to screw anything else up more then it is? My biggest fear is that its perceived as a blackhat method or something like that? Any thoughts?

We seem to have been hit by the penguin update can someone please help?

HiOur website www.wholesaleclearance.co.uk has been hit by the penguin update, I'm not a SEO expert and when I first started my SEO got court up buying blog links, that was about 2 years ago and since them and worked really hard to get good manual links.Does anyone know of a way to dig out any bad links so I can get them removed, any software that will give me a list of any of you guys want to do take a look for me?
