When Should I Ignore Moz's Report Canonical Missing?
-
I'm dealing with an eCommerce website which has a category, subcategory, products.
Moz is showing all of these and the individual products as missing a canonical.
The site is very thin on content at the moment, but all the pages are clearly different, and I don't see why they need a canonical unless this is some rule that eCommerce sites have to follow.
Should I ignore Moz's missing canonical report?
My understanding is if the product appears in multiple categories, then a canonical should be put in place to the product.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Slap to the forehead!
Of course that makes complete sense.
It's been a very long Monday.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Christina. It is generally recommended for all pages to have a canonical. In most cases, these will be self-referential canonicals. I.e. for a product at http://www.website.com/product the canonical should be http://www.website.com/product.
Have a look at this recent article: http://www.thesempost.com/google-recommends-self-referencing-canonicals/

Annotations in Moz tools?
Beginner question, I know, but is there a way to add an annotation or event to the Moz tools, as I can in Google Analytics? I'd like to mark when a change was made. Thanks.

Confused - SEOMoz Reporting On Different Domains?
I wasn't sure which report to set up on my domain, so I set up 2 different ones which now appear like this in the Dashboard under the Campaigns section: *mysite.com www.mysite.com I want to delete the wrong report, but I noticed that they produce two slightly different report results which is interesting. My domain does not have any subdomains - which report should I delete?

On-Page Report Card Questions
First post here, a couple questions as I work through some of the SEOMOZ tool reporting, specifically the On-page Report Card. I've just received the report results yesterday, so working through the data now. There are two issues categorized as critical by the tool: (1) The grader is stating I don't have any instances of the target keyword in my page title, yet it's there. (The page title is too long, but I'm in the process of hacking the blog software to fix this, it's auto-generated by the CMS.) (2) It's also saying under "Broad Keyword Usage in Document" that I have zero instances of the keyword in the body text, and while I certainly don't have enough, there is at least one instance at the bottom of the blog post. All the text is contained with tags. (3) Related to #2, what's the difference between "Appropriate Keyword Usage in Document" under "High Importance Factors" and "Broad Keyword Usage in Document" under "Critical Factors"

SEO moz Report Card
I just ran some on page report cards. As I was playing around with the tool I noticed that I would get different results if I used my primary domain vs a 2nd domain. The main difference was in how the tool was counting keywords on the page. The keyword used was 'vehicle inventory' Primary domain: www.brand-state.com/inventory.htm Title = 1, URL = 0, Meta = 1, H1 = 1, H2-4 = 1 Body =1, Strong = 1, IMG Alt = 1 Total = 7 2nd domain: www.company-name-brand.com/inventory.htm Title = 1, URL = 0, Meta = 1, H1 = 1, H2-4 = 2 Body =5, Strong = 4, IMG Alt = 2 Total = 13 I can understand if the keyword was in the domain, but it's not. So I'm wondering what is going on here - any help or suggestions on what to research would be a great help. Thank you!

Site is penalized yet Google WTC and SEOMOZ says it's ok!
My first question on this community.. A high traffic site of mine has been severely hit for over two months. I took a look at GWTC and noticed a lot of suggestions on the HTML suggestions tab, where I believed that one or a combination of these errors/notices might been causing the penalty. At the moment of typing GWTC shows no HTML suggestions and minor meaningless crawl errors. Checking on SEOMOZ reported issues, I see zero errors except for a high number of duplicate page titles resulting from tag pages being accessible in the same tag title in paginations (tag.html?page=x) which can be fixed easily by using rel=canonical but I just know it can't cause such penalty. For reported warnings, site has a decent amount of title element being too long and missing meta tag description tags. I have been very active in the past with 301 inner pages of the site to make pages URLs as unique as possible and results were great, but that was long time ago before taking the hit. The penalty the site suffers from is zero rankings for newly added contents and old contents as well. It has also lost all rankings for its money terms. Site is not banned and still ranking top for its name which is a good thing. I am not sure where else I should be looking and will appreciate any good advices. Thanks!
