Home link tags slash or full domain name
-
Recently I was asked the question by a client who has some SEO knowledge.....
We built their site and during testing we simply set the home page links to be:
rather than:
This was mainly to help while in test and dev as they were on different servers to the live site and if we had put the full domain in it kept taking us from dev/test to live.
Is it bad to have just a slash for SEO purposes or is it REALLY that important on home links to have the full domain as a slash takes you back to the full domain?
Thanks

I would make it absolute.
You can code it to dynamically insert the base URL, then if it's on dev it will populate the dev URL, when it goes live it populates the production base URL.

How long before I can use a redirected domain without taking back link juice?
We recently moved our website to a new domain that better matched our brand. I want to use the old domain at some point for another aspect of our business. How long after we do the domain redirect will it be safe to use the old domain again--without affecting the seo of the new domain? Thanks! Harriet

If I switch my domain name, will I keep link juice from redirect?
I am moving one of my sites wellington-florida-homes.com to a new domain (wellingtonfloridahomes.com). Most of our link-juice is coming from another domain we purchased (theshockleyteam.com) that is redirected to our primary site. If I simply redirect theshockleyteam.com to our new domain (wellingtonfloridahomes.com) I will still have the link juice passing through, right? Thanks!

How do i best utilize my exact keyword match domain names as landing pages?
I own mutiple exact keyword match domain names which I would like to utilize as landing pages for my business.I would like to know if it would be best to host each page as a seperte website?or would it be best to simply link the domain name thorugh the domain registrar to an already exisiting page on the main website. example: cheapshoes.com --> www.thebestshoes.com/cheapshoes I would like to do this in the most seo friendly manner so that the exact keyword domain is ranked within google without losing any PR. Which method is best? and what type of linking should be used through the domin registrar?

I am redirecting following links with wordpress redirect plug in http://soobumimphotography.com/gallery.php?GalleryID=126&GalleryName=Wedding&OrderNum=1 http://soobumimphotography.com/gallery.php?GalleryID=126&GalleryName=Wedding&OrderNum=1 What would be the best way to solve this? Is there anyway I can remove those?

Should I wory about spam domains linking to me?
A while ago my site had a pharmacy hack done to it and created a ton of spam links. I've since fixed the issues on my site but I'm still showing links from their sites. See screen shot: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0497cc147 I think they are links from the spam site to me and not my site "yakanger" linking to them correct? Do I need to worry about these? Can I get rid of them?

Lots of Domains Going Nowhere - Point to a Real Domain?
I have hundreds of domains that I have purchased over the years that arent going anywhere except GoDaddy's Cash Parking system, which returns very little revenue, if at all. I wonder if it would make more sense to just point these domains to actually e-commerce sites that I own. If so, how best to take these domains and point them so that SEO credit is given properly. Most of these available domains dont have anything to do with the e-commerce stores. So not sure it would help. Furthermore, if I were to purchase new domains that were more relevant to the keywords to our e-commerce sites, how best to set them up so we can generate traffic on them and point them over to the actual domains? Many thanks.

New Sub-domains or New Directories for 10+ Year Domain?
We've got a one-page, 10+ year old domain that has a 65/100 domain authority that gets about 10k page views a day (I'm happy to share the URL but didn't know if that's permitted). The content changes daily (it's a daily bible verse) so most of this question is focused on domain authority, not the content. We're getting ready to provide translations of that daily content in 4 languages. Would it be better to create sub-domains for those translations (same content, different language) or sub-folders? Example: http://cn.example.com
Technical SEO | | ipllc
http://es.example.com
http://ru.example.com or http://example.com/cn
http://example.com/es
http://example.com/ru We're able to do either but want to pick the one that would give the translated version the most authority both now and moving forward. (We definitely don't want to penalize the root domain.) Thanks in advance for your input.0 -
Canonical Tag
Does it do anything to place the Canonical tag on the unique page itself? I thought this was only to be used on the offending pages that are the copies. Thanks
