Page dropped after backlink

This is a bit of a odd one...
I put two new pages on to my website. And built one backlink to each page (each from separate domains).
The pages and backlinks have indexed quite quickly.
The odd thing is that one of my pages has dropped significantly in ranking but the other has boosted significantly in ranking!
The 1st page has come to page 1 of google, the other pages dropped to page 3 of google.
Prior to building the links the ranks was stable.
Any ideas?

The odd thing is before adding the link, the first keyword was position 11 the second was position 12. The first one boosted up to the first page, the second one has dropped to the third page!

That might be the page is new it can be dancing between ranking for some time, there are also many factors that could contribute to your problem. For example the different competitiveness between both keywords.

I'd have to have more details such as your domain and the backlink in question. The first thing i'd check is the spam score below 9% ? In the mean time, if you wanted an 89 DA DoFollow that is just heavenly, MoZ is a good one. Once you're at 200+ MoZ community points I hear they remove the NoFollow Tag.
Thing with links is, they do have to be relevant, So I suppose if your profile indicates you're an entrepreneur who does web design and SEO for his business, then linked to content in your about section of your website confirming this, that would fall under the criteria of relevant and deliver a pretty godly amount of Link juice! At +430 points you definitely meet that nominal amount necessary

Why have my rankings dropped?
I have a client who has just seen his average page rank creep up from around 39 to 34 over about two months, then it appears to have dropped back to position 40+ in the space of a week. I believe he's made a lot of changes to targeted keywords, so I'd like to think it's simply because his old targeted keywords are dropping and new keywords still have to build their rankings. But I'm also worried in case he has over-optimised and might get getting penalised. Any advice on where to start digging?

Substantial difference between Number of Indexed Pages and Sitemap Pages
Hey there, I am doing a website audit at the moment. I've notices substantial differences in the number of pages indexed (search console), the number of pages in the sitemap and the number I am getting when I crawl the page with screamingfrog (see below). Would those discrepancies concern you? The website and its rankings seems fine otherwise. Total indexed: 2,360 (Search Consule)

Bad Backlink?
Hi I found this site whilst looking through WMT backlinks to our site: http://www.buildingarena.co.uk/companies/key-industrial-equipment Is this type of iFrame of our site a bad signal to Google? It's not something we've done, so I'd like to know before getting it removed. Thanks!

My landing page changed in google's serp. I used to have a product page now I have a pdf?
I have been optimizing this page for a few weeks now and and have seen our page for up from 23rd to 11th on the serp's. I come to work today and not only have I dropped to 15 but I've also had my relevant product page replaced by this page . Not to mention the second page is a pdf! I am not sure what happened here but any advice on how I could fix this would be great. My site is www.mynaturalmarket.com and the keyword I'm working on is Zyflamend.

Directory backlink
Hello everyone, I know that this question has been asked millions of time, but I am really not getting a straight answer for it. Well the question will be divided in few other questions : Google changed, I get that, but I am reading everywhere, come up with a great content and the rest will follow, stop creating your own backlink and let user link to you ... But I don't know if this is apply for every site on the web, let take the example of a flash gaming site that we manage, we are creating games every day, coming up with great (unique) text for each of them, we are active on social media and stopped backlink from directories. But now we can see our sites losing ranking and seeing some websites that are not having much content on their sites or even active on social medias that are ranking better than us. We always used white hat techniques, this is why we were so well ranked for so long, but now we see our ranking change on a daily basis but can't explained why. So my question is, should we totally stop directories backlink (even the good directories)? Or we should keep on going and try PR at the same time? For a site that just started how on earth will he be able to get backlinks if it's not using directories in the first place? So I feel that I am going in circle here and I don't know what else we could do to improve our site. We even recast the site to bring better experience to the user to see if this will help on us on getting our ranking back. And this help, as the page views and time on the site improved with it, but the ranking is still unchanged (that has been done 3 months ago). Content Landing Page
Hey Mozzers, I wanted to get some opinions on here. I'm going to be building out the content on my site a lot of the next couple of months, and have recently started thinking about creating a content landing page. For those not familiar with the concept it's the idea of building this page that basically just pulls together all the content you've written on a specific subject & serves as hopefully a link magnet & destination for people interested in the topic. So my question is this, I am just outlining all of the different posts & areas that I want to cover on specific topics & it is a lot. I'm talking ~20 posts on each subject. Do you think that would be too much content to try & get on one page? Should I break it down to a more finite 5-7 links to high quality articles per page, or create basically this monster guide that links to all these different articles I'll create. Does having multiple links to the same page influence the Link juice this page is able to pass
Say you have a page and it has 4 outgoing links to the same internal page. In the original Pagerank algo if these links were links to an page outside your own domain, this would mean that the linkjuice this page is able to pass would be devided by 4. The thing is i'm not sure if this is also the case when the outgoing link, is linking to a page on your own domain. I would say that outgoing links (whatever the destination) will use some of your link juice, so it would be better to have 1 outgoing link instead of 4 to the same destination, the the destination will profit more form that link. What are you're thoughts?

Does a page on a site with high domain authority build page authority easier? i.e. less inbound links?
Is this also why people build backlinks to their BBB profiles, Yellowpages Profiles, etc. i.e. why do people build backlinks to other pages that link to them? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to just build that backlink directly to your target?
