New FB page feature LOOKS AWESOME how to get it for me too??
-
So I was commenting on an article that my girlfriend shared and the coolest thing happened. Check out the screens for details, but basically, as soon as i finished my comment and pressed enter, a little like box prompt window popped up.
This was on FB not on their site, and I thought that was awesome.
Anyone heard of, or no what is required to get this for other pages???
Thanks!!

I don't believe this is an ad. This seems to work on a number of sites I've looked at, including CNN, Fox News, and Search Engine Land (but not SEOMoz).
I took a look at the Open Graph tags for the sites, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary, and I haven't been able to replicate it with my site. Definitely something to keep an eye out for.

I'm thinking it has to do with their promoted post/advertising system - I've seen it with sponsored posts before (like the one I attached here). It's interesting that for you it showed up after you interacted with a shared post (rather than just showing up automatically on a sponsored post)...that is a really nice feature for advertisers - maybe they are running a sponsored stories campaign that is set up to target friends of fans? That's my guess!

Hi Tyler,
I'm not sure on that one. I agree that it looks like a great thing for users, and hope some other people chime in.
I cropped your photo to show just the area of interest (instead of the other browser tabs you had open, etc) because the image was being reduced too much to show what you were talking about.

Why is my home page ranking much higher than my collection page?
Hi everyone, Why is my client's home page ranking high for a certain keyword phrase rather than a collection page I have which is well optimised for this keyword? The collection page is on the 10th SERPs page. I did see there were keywords used in the footer of page and the keyword was also used in some intro text on the home page so I removed the keyword from these two places nearly 2 weeks ago and requested google to reindex both the collection page and home page and I've not seen any improvement of the collection page's ranking in SERPs. I also changed the meta description and meta title as the ctr was poor but there wasn''t that many impressions either. It is a competitive keyword organically so maybe the collection page's authority is just not good enough compared to the competitors hence why they are choosing the home page as it has higher page authority however this still is not helpful to searchers who land on home page. Does anyone have any ideas of what else I can do to get google to rank the ocllection page higher for the keyword instead of home page?

Pages that did NOT 301 redirect to the new site
Hi, Is there a tool out there that can tell me what pages did NOT 301 redirect to the new sites? I need something rather than going into google.com and typing in site:oldsite.com to see if it's still indexed and if it's not 301 redirecting.. I'm not sure if screaming frog can do that. Thanks.

Client is paranoid about Google penguin penalty from getting links from a new website they are building
We have a client that is creating a new promotional website that consists of videos, brands and product reviews (SITE B). After a visitor watches a video on SITE B they will be given a "click to purchase" option that will lead them to the original website (SITE A). Our client is paranoid that since all the outgoing links on the new SITE B are going to the original SITE A there might be algorithm penalty (for one website or both). I find this very unlikely and even recommend "no follow" coding for a peace of mind. However are there any resources/links out there that can back up my argument that they will be alright? Thanks

New indepth page for content marketing - feedback?
I finally figured out that to EARN quality links I need some great content that I can share. Content that is valuable to people. So I created a (indepth?) article with some pretty sweet infographics. This is NEW to me. So I was hoping I could get some feedback on this before I attempt to promote it to media and industry publishers. Here is the link: http://www.titanium-jewelry.com/jewelry-insurance-info.html Would love your feedback and suggestions! Thanks ron

Does Google only look at LSI per page or context of the Site?
From what I have read i should optimise each page for a keyword/phrase, however, I read recently that google may also look at the context of the site to see if there are other similar words. For example i have different pages optimised for Funeral Planning, funeral plans, funeral plan costs, compare funeral plans, why buy a funeral plan, paying for a funeral, prepaid funeral plans. Is this the best strategy when the words/phrases are so close or should i go for longer pages with the variations on one page or at least less pages? Thanks Ash

404 Error on Blog Pages that Look Like Loading Fine
There was recently a huge increase in 404 errors on Yandex Webmasters corresponding with a drop in rankings. Most of the pages seem to be from my blog (which was updated around the same time). When I click on the links from Yandex the page looks like it is loading normal, expect that it has the following message from the Facebook plugin I am using for commenting Any ideas about what the problem is or how to fix it? Critical Errors That Must Be Fixed | Bad Response Code: | URL returned a bad HTTP response code. | Open Graph Warnings That Should Be Fixed | Inferred Property: | The 'og:url' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags. |

What are the best way to get a new subdomain ranked properly
Our main site (blog with 700 high quality articles) ranks pretty well and we recently launced a rapidly growing forum (55.000 posts in the first 11 weeks) on a subdomain. What would be a good strategy for ranking the forum quickly

Move to a new domain - How to get the redirects right?
Hi, I hope that someone with good htaccess knowledge can help. I am planning on moving my site to a new domain. I understand that I should make 301 redirects using htaccess for every URL. This is a big site so it will be impossible to not forget some of the thousands existing URLs. Now to the question: How do I make all the URLs that is not specified in htaccess to redirect to my new root? Thanks!
