The right way for review count?
-
Hi,
I have a question that kinda bothers me for a while now and would love to hear you guys thoughts on this matter.
One of the categories in my websites is services reviews, for example:
http://www.websiteplanet.com/review/questionform/Recently we upgraded the site and gave users the option to write their own review as well.
Now as you can see, the way it works is that we write a very big and informative/professional review ourself and in addition we give users the option to write their own reviews and share their experience with the service.
Now My question is:
There is the itemprop-review count thingy, now we did it so if 0 users wrote a review it will show 0 reviews on the count.
Is it correct? (Feel free to check the site code yourself)
Or is it wrong? because their is actually 1 review (our editors review)I hope I explained my self well...
If not, please let me know what is unclear. Thanks!

I can't see anything that specifically precludes you from counting you own review in that. However if there were a lot where the only review was you own I can see it could look like you were trying to manipulate things.
If you were doing that I would definitely include the reviewer markup as well. That would make it really clear that you were being open about the source.
This page might be useful, You've probably seen it already, but they are talking about mixed case there and seem fine with what you are suggesting:

What are the Google guidelines on embedding a review summary?
We have a enterprise (well known brand) client who is asking about the Google guidelines on embedding reviews from a 3rd party website(s). Essentially the client wants a "summary" of reviews on their landing pages. We are well aware that the Google best practices do not permit structured data for curated reviews. However are there any guidelines saying that a review summary in general is in violation of webmaster best practices? Thanks

Best way to show content from articles I am published/featured in
Hi. I was wondering what was the best way to show my audience articles that my client is featured in. My client is specifically a surgeon, who has been referenced in many articles around his specific field of cosmetic surgery. An idea posed is to repost the entire article but just reference back to the original article. Is there an SEO friendly way of doing this? I have seen this done before, like search engine journal's author Larry Kim might repost something he wrote or published on wordstream onto search engine journal sometimes, but makes the reference that it was originally posted on wordstream. I know the standard thinking is to always just write new and unique content, but there is already a good amount written about our client and referencing his work, how can we use this to our advantage and give new or prospecting patients information regarding his credibility? Our client really does not want us to write articles for him, and he does not have the time to write them either. Again Question: How can we leverage articles and studies that have already been published online that is featuring our client and show them in full onto our own website?

Pagination on a product page with reviews spread out on multiple pages
Our current product pages markup only have the canonical URL on the first page (each page loads more user reviews). Since we don't want to increase load times, we don't currently have a canonical view all product page. Do we need to mark up each subsequent page with its own canonical URL? My understanding was that canonical and rel next prev tags are independent of each other. So that if we mark up the middle pages with a paginated URL, e.g: Product page #1http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692"/>http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692&pageid=2" />**Product page #2 **http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692&pageid=2"/>http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692" />http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692&pageid=3" />Would mean that each canonical page would suggest to google another piece of unique content, which this obviously isn't. Is the PREV NEXT able to "override" the canonical and explain to Googlebot that its part of a series? Wouldn't the canonical then be redundant? Thanks

Best way to remove full demo (staging server) website from Google index
I've recently taken over an in-house role at a property auction company, they have a main site on the top-level domain (TLD) and 400+ agency sub domains! company.com agency1.company.com agency2.company.com... I recently found that the web development team have a demo domain per site, which is found on a subdomain of the original domain - mirroring the site. The problem is that they have all been found and indexed by Google: demo.company.com demo.agency1.company.com demo.agency2.company.com... Obviously this is a problem as it is duplicate content and so on, so my question is... what is the best way to remove the demo domain / sub domains from Google's index? We are taking action to add a noindex tag into the header (of all pages) on the individual domains but this isn't going to get it removed any time soon! Or is it? I was also going to add a robots.txt file into the root of each domain, just as a precaution! Within this file I had intended to disallow all. The final course of action (which I'm holding off in the hope someone comes up with a better solution) is to add each demo domain / sub domain into Google Webmaster and remove the URLs individually. Or would it be better to go down the canonical route?

Do you think Link:Content Ratio counts in SEO?
We posted the same question in Quora. But hope to get responses or test results from SEOMOzers. This might help Google for identifying: High Link:Content Ratio = Parked Domain

Moderate Link:Content Ratio = Directory Site
Relatively High Link:Content Ratio = Normal Website
Very High Link:Content Ratio = Article page or Blog Do you think Google is using it, especially during Panda Update? I am trying to find a reasonable cause of many situations like the PR of deep links or category pages in Directory sites has vanished. And if that has something to do with it.0 -
Using comment boxes for building links (the right way)
Some people see this kind of link building as spammy mainly because of automated systems I guess making it spammy. But what if you use your company name linking to your site to indicate who has posted it and then actually contribute some good discussion. A lot of these are no-follow (although I have got it into my head even though they are no follow not passing juice I still think Google counts the link and it does something). So I want to start doing some of this, for example squidoo. Lots of lens with great content that I could quite easily comment on with 50 words+
