Merging 5 Sites
-
Hi there
We have 5 separate sites which handle different regions/niches that we work in, and we are planning to merge into one so we have a logical path for 301 redirects. The sites have DA's as follows:
Site 1 - DA 36
Site 2 - DA 31
Site 3 - DA 29
Site 4 - DA 27
Site 5 - DA 20Does anyone have any experience with how the DA would flow through to the new site?
Each site currently relates to a different niche that we work with, and we are planning to keep the content structured similarly, probably like this: https://newtoplevelsite/site1/products, https://newtoplevelsite/site2/products and so on. That makes 301 redirects easy and also gives us more control in managing users and different teams in Wordpress. We would link the different niches through the top menu and links within the pages. Is there a better solution? Would it make more sense to have https://newtoplevelsite/products/site1, https://newtoplevelsite/products/site2, and so on?
Thanks for the ideas

We dont really have duplication at all
Thanks a lot!

If you merge these five sites the results will probably be kickass. Simply kickass. I believe that the strength of all of your pages will benefit in terms of Google performance. You might also find some cross-selling and cross-content promotion that is extremely valuable.
I like this method because it will probably be easiest to do... https://newtoplevelsite/site1/products
But, I like that method if and only if these sites do not have a lot of duplication. If there is a lot of duplication, I would do the long and tedious work of totally restructuring on the basis of topic.
About this question... "Does anyone have any experience with how the DA would flow through to the new site?"
I would not give it a single moment of thought.

Impending Site Merge - Ideal Time Frame
Hello Moz Community :)**Back Story:**For the past 8 years, we have been running our main e-commerce site on Magento 1For the past year, we have been building out a new far superior version on Magento 2The new Magento 2 site is essentially done we have a couple little last tiny tweaks/improvements to complete. All signs point to it being 100% done by January 31 - 2019. The new site is currently totally functional and fully operational you could complete a checkout no problem. We currently have the site blocked from being crawled. Although we have rewritten all the site content & taken all new photos we've been concerned with duplicate content issues.

I have attached an image that is a very good representation of our average sales pattern in a typical year. We are a seasonal business so there are big highs and lows. **Concerns:**My hopes were to launch the site around March - 1 2019. I have to 301s meticulously prepared in a spreadsheet and ready to go. My concern though is making this change right before busy season is about to hit. On the other hand though there really never is an ideal time to make the change as cash flow is equally important if not more important during the slow season.Ideally, I would allow the site to be crawled and run them both in tandem for a while but I'm concerned about potential duplicate content issues even though the content has been significantly altered.**Main Question:**What's my best bet?1) Do the 301 in March and hope for the best2) Allow the site to be indexed - risk duplicate content problems and run them both in tandem for a while.Final thoughts. The old site is really starting to fall apart. Every day I keep it open and running we steal resources from moving forward with the new site.-Any thoughts, direction, suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated9wDl7lD0 -
New site failing to rank - could this be why?
I have a new client site that is not appearing anywhere in the top 100 for its main keywords. ASSUMING that this is not an issue with optimization or link quality, I am wondering whether it might be the following... The client's company has a parent company whose website has decent authority. This website links to the new (client) website. In addition, the 2 press releases we have done include links to both companies, since one was an outgrowth of the other. This is all 100% natural, so my inclination is that this is not causing the issue. But does anyone have any experience to suggest otherwise? That having website A linking to website B, and 50+ press release websites linking to both, could be causing the algorithm to throttle website Bs ability to rank? Thanks in advance!

Old sitemaps after site migration.
Hi, I was wondering if it's safe to remove all the sitemaps from the old site in search console? It's been 3 months since site migration from http://sitea.com (301 redirected) to http://siteb.com. Therefore, can I delete the old sitemap from the http://sitea.com from search console? Thanks.

Why my site it's not being indexed?
Hello.... I got to tell that I feel like a newbie (I am, but know I feel like it)... We were working with a client until january this year, they kept going on their own until september that they contacted us again... Someone on the team that handled things while we were gone, updated it´s robots.txt file to Disallow everything... for maybe 3 weeks before we were back in.... Additionally they were working on a different subdomain, the new version of the site and of course the didn't block the robots on that one. So now the whole site it's been duplicated, even it´s content, the exact same pages exist on the suddomain that was public the same time the other one was blocked. We came in changes the robots.txt file on both server, resend all the sitemaps, sent our URL on google+... everything the book says... but the site it´s not getting indexed. It's been 5 weeks now and no response what so ever. We were highly positioned on several important keywords and now it's gone. I now you guys can help, any advice will be highly appreciated. thanks Dan

How come this site does so well?
Hi Guys, It's bugging the crap out of me why this site does so well http://www.stagedinburgh.com/ when I look at it's link profile its so weak and terrible plus many links comes from the sites they own. Somehow the site out ranks many sites for search terms like edinburgh stag party, edinburgh stag do, edinburgh stag weekends. Am I missing something? They seem to only have links from 13 domains and they aint great. What am I missing?

Is it possible to Spoof Analytics to give false Unique Visitor Data for Site A to Site B
Hi, We are working as a middle man between our client (website A) and another website (website B) where, website B is going to host a section around websites A products etc. The deal is that Website A (our client) will pay Website B based on the number of unique visitors they send them. As the middle man we are in charge of monitoring the number of Unique visitors sent though and are going to do this by monitoring Website A's analytics account and checking the number of Unique visitors sent. The deal is worth quite a lot of money, and as the middle man we are responsible for making sure that no funny business goes on (IE false visitors etc). So to make sure we have things covered - What I would like to know is 1/. Is it actually possible to fool analytics into reporting falsely high unique visitors from Webpage A to Site B (And if so how could they do it). 2/. What could we do to spot any potential abuse (IE is there an easy way to spot that these are spoofed visitors). Many thanks in advance
