I am looking for help eliminating issues with website
-
I am looking for a company or person to assist me on the technical aspect of improving our site speed and resolving so errors that MOZ is reporting. For instance, we have an old URL domain that we retired when we consolidated 2 websites. We pointed (mapped) the old site pages to the current website, is this redirect helping (links) or hurting us? Can anyone recommend someone I can hire to help me with this project?

Hi Julie,
I know that you are looking to hire someone, but I thought I would share some opinions here to get you thinking about what you want to spend your money on. I did an on-demand scan of your site on Moz to see what you are seeing in error reporting.
Issues that need fixed first I think the most important issues you need fixed first are your title tags, missing H1 tags and possibly your URL structure if you would like. That with focus on your on-page content will see large benefits to you and your company.
Redirect Issues
The redirect issues that I am seeing are actually redirect chains. This means that a link redirects to another redirect that finally lands on a page. There are two redirects in that process. You might want to investigate how you are redirecting those URLs from the previous site. I always think it is good to have those redirects in place from a previous site. You may want to use the links section of Moz to see if anyone is linking to your previous site. If you are certain there are no more links to your previous site, then you can safely remove those redirects.
Site Speed
I think it is important to understand site speed in rankings. Yes, the faster the website the better user mobile experience. Right now, Google doesn't rank sites based on page speed difference. It only will effect rankings if your site is really bad. Google's expectations in their report is high because they want to push towards lightweight websites. Just because it ranks as slow doesnt mean that it will take effect on your rankings. A lot of cases, there will have to be some significant code changes to fix some of those areas. Scan your competitors site as well and see where they fall. Amazon only scores a 70 and they seem to do fine.
Also, speed fluctuates much like rankings fluctuate. A .3 second drop shouldn't be concerning. It is probably because of the pop-up you have installed announcing you are still open.
Summary
I would clean up your SEO tags and metadata first. Then you can start to worry about the redirect chains and finally maybe the site speed. If speed is a major priority for your firm, then you may want to consider a redesign built around a lightweight template.

We have 2 main issues: Web page speed and re-directs from an old URL.
**#1 Web page speed: ** Our website speed (for acclaimlegalservices.com) according to https://www.thinkwithgoogle.com/feature/testmysite/ is 2.9 seconds, which is considered slow and has gotten .3 seconds slower over the past month. We need technical help to fix some issues that are causing site slowness.
**#2 Re-directs: ** We are getting notices from MOZ on re-direct issues. We have an old website (acclaimls.com) that we closed down several years ago as we had 2 competing sites with similar content. We mapped each of the pages on the old site to similar pages on the current site and redirected those pages. I would like a POV as to whether it is still beneficial to keep those links or if we are better off from an SEO perspective to discontinue the re-directs.
Thank you in advance for any help! Julie

I still don't understand how rel=canonical works. Help?
So here's the deal. I write for many different outlets. I also have many different pages on my blog that have duplicates (authorized, of course). On my blog, I have many different pages that redirect to "the original" content. I've only recently discovered the existence of rel=canonical. However I don't understand how it works. I have very specific questions. Can anyone help? If, on my blog, I have a blog post that's the original. And another website has the same content, used with authorization. If I want to tell search engines that the original content is on MY blog, what can I do? Is the only solution to ask the owner of the other blog to add a rel=canonical in the header of the specific post? If, on my blog, I have a blog post that's NOT the original. Do I simply add rel=canonical to the header, then add a link to the original in the body? If, on my blog, I have THE FIRST 300 WORDS of a blog post, then add a link saying "to read the whole article, click here" with a link pointing to the original, do I need to have a rel=canonical tag somewhere? Does it HAVE to be in the header? Can rel=canonical be used in the - What penalties are included with having duplicate content of my work everywhere on the web? I've been trying to find specifics, but can't. Thanks for the help. I'm quite confused, as you can see.

Static or Dynamic Home Page? Please Help!
Hi again 🙂 I ask for ur input again my friends I finally decided to go for the shorter .COM domain, and I put my domain online. Since it will be an online games site, every post will be in fact a new game. And of course, every game, will be in fact a post. I put my home page as "latest posts" this way, all my posts are shown in home page, and posts being for me games, all my games appear on my home page. So my home page always has the latest games and is always fresh. The theme I use has the option to ad some "static content" at the end of the posts, on home page, for SEO. I my home page I have also about 300 words of "article" content, that never changes, and is for seo, since my post content, is in fact java script, and other html codes ( flash games). So my home pages is that article plus excerpts of latest post. But the problem is, that I cannot control the seo, on page this way, and I cannot control my keywords very well, or the density of them, since the home page isnt a page. Now the question is, to let my Home page as it is, or change it and set it up as a page. I can put games on pages to, that is not a big problem. What is best, for the future of the site, google ranking, and seo, in ur opinion. I ad that I recived "A" Grade on moz for Page Seo Grade! Thank You!

Navigation Links Causing Too Many Links Help?
Hello, I have read some SEOMOZ search results for this, but am still concerned that Google may see 4,500 Too Many Link warnings as a problem. This is caused primarily due to our header navigation, which is not intended to be keyword stuffing, but to provide all avenues for our breadth of content. site: crazymikesapps.com. Most answers seem to advise if there is no keyword stuffing at hand don't worry about it. Any help appreciated. thank you Mike
