my competitor is ranking on page 1 of google. he has 3.4 million backlinks and 1400 refering domains. he has aquired these backlinks from various websites, but he doesnot have links from his niche . how do i beat my competition with less backlinks because if i follo his technique, it would a takea lot of time and people to build backlinks
one of my strategy is to get .edu links
second strategy is to have 6000 word content and rank for really low competition keywords related to my website.( my competitors website has 1500 words content!)
any other strategy you can suggest?

Hein,
More sites optimized for specific keywords = more competitive, even if the keyword is not very often searched. "purple and black widgets" for example my have 1000 sites "optimized" for the term but maybe only 2 people search for it per month. In the above case, a keyword difficulty of 30 and volume of 500 would be the better choice.

Redirect 'keyword-url' to improve ranking?
I was wondering if a good url, with a keyword in it, can help you improve the position of that certain keyword by redirecting that url to your website. To make it clear: We run the website www.terello.nl, and have the possibility to let the url www.iphonereparatie.nl (translation: iphonerepair) redirect to our website. Would this help us to rank for the keyword 'iPhone reparatie'? I hope that I made myself clear this way:) Otherwise i'm more than happy to clearify myself!

Connecting long tail keywords to pages
New to Moz and this forum, so be gentle. 🙂 I’m in the process of overhauling a generally neglected website and have just finished some research on long tail keywords. My question is, how do I implement these? For example, I’ve got a product “Acme Widget” which has its own page on the site (and ranking well for the product name itself). I have lots of long tail keyword sets which describe key benefits of the products – some of which appear in the product copy, others which don’t (perhaps because the thing that a user may search for is ugly/bad-English in copy). For the sake of argument, let’s say I have the following long tail keywords for my Acme Widgets. cheap red widget los angleles widget strong green widgets florida What is the best way to implement these? Do I need to simply incorporate the text into my main Acme Widgets page, or do I need to have separate pages which are highly targeted to each long tail keyword? The problem with the former is unnatural/ugly copy. The problem with the latter is that coming up with enough content to justify (and rank) a page on each keyword set would be quite a challenge. Regards,

Top content keyword in WMT is crap
I've heard that a blog's has a deep relation with content keywords available in WMT, my WMT is showing top content keyword "PNG" and it's because of images available in my posts. also the images sizes like 150x150 is also in my content keyword. Should I noindex my images? or is there any other solution to handle this issue?

How can I see the SEO of a URL? I need to know the progress of a specific landing-page of my web. Not a keyword, an url please. Thanks.
I need to know the evolution on SEO of a specific landing-page (an URL) of my web. Not a keyword, a url. Thanks. Muchas gracias)

What SEO factors do you consider when selecting a CMS?
I'm assisting evaluating 5 different CMS solutions for a client. As a part of this evaluation, I want to ensure we fully explore the SEO capabilities and short comings of the different platforms. Which factors would you recommend we consider? Currently, I'm thinking: custom URLs custom page titles, meta data, etc automatic sitemap updates customize robots/indexing settings site load times rel canonical support code & css quality 301 redirect functionality What else should be on this list? Is there anything on my list that you would de-prioritize? At risk of making this question too large: any opinions out there on what the most SEO friendly CMS systems are?

Keyword in Domain or not?
My on page optimization grade is an "A" with the following factors; Factor Overview <dl class="scoreboard clearfix"> <dt>Critical Factors</dt> <dd>4 / 4</dd> <dt>High Importance Factors</dt> <dd>7 / 7</dd> <dt>Moderate Importance Factors</dt> <dd>8 / 9</dd> <dt>Low Importance Factors</dt> <dd>11 / 11</dd> <dt>Optional Factors</dt> <dd>5 / 5</dd> </dl> The main thing I appear to be missing is keywords in my URL. How truly important is that in today's SEO world and how much time or ranking would be lost if I do not have control to change the external links to my website if I decided to migrate to a keyword relevant url?

URL paths and keywords
I'm recommending some on-page optimization for a home builder building in several new home communities. The site has been through some changes in the past few months and we're almost starting over. The current URL structure is http://homebuilder.com/oakwood/features where homebuilder = builder name Oakwood Estates= name of community features = one of several sub-paths including site plan, elevations, floor plans, etc. The most attainable keyword phrases include the word 'home' and 'townname' I want to change the URL path to: http://homebuilder.com/oakwood-estates-townname-homes/features Is there any problem with doing this? It just seems to make a lot of sense. Any input would be appreciated.
