Are "appliance repair" and "appliance repair los angeles" consider the same keyword?
-
Hello,
I know that you can't optimize two pages for 1 keyword because Google will get confused and will rather prefer my competitor. But I can't get if it will consider "appliance repair" and "appliance repair los angeles" same keywords? The homepage of my website, https://www.ifixappliancesla.com, is optimized for "appliance repair", one of the inner pages is optimized for "appliance repair los angeles". None of them shows on the first page in local SERPs for any of those quires. I am wondering if this is because Google sees it as both pages are optimized for "appliance repair"?

Could you please let me know if this applies to the backlinks from third-party websites that I'm building?

Hi again,
Yes, that's is correct. Do not use the same anchor twice, but you still can use a partial match anchor text like " word + appliance repair Los Angeles" and link to your home page.

Hi Ross,
Thank you very much for your reply! You said, "some of your backlinks need to have "appliance repair Los Angeles" as an anchor text. Keep in mind, never repeat the anchor text." Could you please elaborate on this? Do you mean that I only can have one anchor "appliance repair Los Angeles" linking to my homepage within my entire website?
Thank you!

Hi there,
You still can rank your home page for "appliance repair", and your inner page for "appliance repair Los Angeles". However, I see that you are a local business that provides services only in Los Angeles. In that case, I would only use one page( home page) to rank for "appliance repair Los Angeles" and "appliance repair". Make sure you have content on the home page about "appliance repair Los Angeles", Meta Tags, and some of your backlinks need to have "appliance repair Los Angeles" as an anchor text. Keep in mind, never repeat the anchor text. You should be able to rank one page for both terms.

Does this type of writing follow the "original content" criterion of structured data?
Hi!' So, in Google's general guideline for structured data, it's stated that the webmasters must "provide original content that you or your users have generated." If I were to write an article about post similar to stuff like "how to get a driver's license" or "how to apply for an accounting license", which requires looking up information from official and non-official sources. After researching, I compiled the information I found and wrote a few blog posts. Are these considered original content? Can I apply structured data to these posts without Google penalizing them? Thanks!

Words order in keywords phrase
Hello, I read that Google can "read" in all directions a while ago. Does this mean that keyword quires "Santa Monica appliance repair" and "appliance repair Santa Monica" are the same? Would you track both of them, or tracking only one would be enough? Thank you!

Keyword Cannibalization?
I am not quite sure I totally understand the concept of keyword cannibalization. I have seen the SEO Moz Snowboard example... I tried to apply the concept but the on-page ranking sees a category page of mine with KW cannibalization. By the way, I still get an A for the targeted KW. I have an e-commerce site, one category page targets 'wool sweaters' and a product page for example is : 'chunky-knit wool turtleneck sweater' (there are 8 products total in this category all are flagged Cannibalizers). I didn't think KWC would be an issue...ranking seems to be effected judging ranking for other category pages w/o KW cannibalization issues. So, my question I guess is KW cannibalization really a big deal? What is taken into account when judging KW cannibalization. Title Tags? URLs? Thanks in advance

Wordpress "incoming search terms" plugin
Hello everyone! newbie to SEO and have been trying to keep everything nice and ethical but I've seen on a couple of blogs today "incoming search terms" at the bottom of the blogs, then a bullet pointed list of search terms beneath it. So I had a quick search about the use of it and noticed wordpress has a plugin that automatic ally generates these "incoming search terms". I ask is this a legitimate plugin or will this harm my blog? I assume it generally will as I can't see this being much use for the audience, rather it would be 100% for trying to lure in search engines.

Keyword in Domain or not?
My on page optimization grade is an "A" with the following factors; Factor Overview <dl class="scoreboard clearfix"> <dt>Critical Factors</dt> <dd>4 / 4</dd> <dt>High Importance Factors</dt> <dd>7 / 7</dd> <dt>Moderate Importance Factors</dt> <dd>8 / 9</dd> <dt>Low Importance Factors</dt> <dd>11 / 11</dd> <dt>Optional Factors</dt> <dd>5 / 5</dd> </dl> The main thing I appear to be missing is keywords in my URL. How truly important is that in today's SEO world and how much time or ranking would be lost if I do not have control to change the external links to my website if I decided to migrate to a keyword relevant url?

Meta keywords
I heard that Google doesn't use 'meta keywords' for ranking. Is that true and does it harm to use the meta tag? And how do the other big SEs use the tag?

Rel="canonical" for PFDs?
Hello there, We have a lot of PDFs that seem to end up on other websites. I was wondering if there was a way to make sure that our website gets the credit/authority as the original creator. Besides linking directly from the PDF copy to our pages, is anyone aware of strategy for letting Google know that we are the original publishers? I know search engines can index HTML versions of PDFs, so is there anyway to get them to index a rel="canonical" tag as well? Thoughts/Ideas?
