The crawl report shows a lot of 404 errors
-
They are inactive products, and I can't find any active links to these product pages. How can I tell where the crawler found the links?
-
That's too easy Keri.
-
If you download the CSV of the report, there is a column that will list the referring URL for the 404.
-
Mike's suggestion is a great one. SF gives some great data that's easy to play with in Excel. The free version only crawls 500 pages, so if you have a small site, you'll probably get what you need. (I got 30k+ pages, so I use the paid version that's only about $160/yr.)

There is nothing wrong with having a "404 error" if the page is an expired product. Obviously, you don't wont to be linking to a 404 page on your site, so I'd suggest using a tool like Screaming Frog, potentially even OSE, and monitoring your 404 pages in Google Webmaster Tools to see if it is still currently being linked to.
If the page has external links pointing to it, I'd recommend 301 redirecting it to whatever category/subcategory the product belongs to.
-
Do a scan with Screaming Frog. It can point out exact pages where you are having broken links.
They have a free trial and a paid version.
This program is great for diagnosing many different website related issues.
Hope this helps.

Increase in authorization permission errors (Access Denied - Error 403)
Hi MOZ community, Since last week when I changed my theme in a WP installation I noticed (in WMT and MOZ tool) that I have increased number in authorization permission errors (error 403-forbidden). What happens is that I received a 403 error for almost every single URL of my site. All these URLs are not "real" ones but they all have my email in the end. i.e. I get an 403 error for the "/contact/support@fantasylogic.com" whilst the real URL is just "/contact/" This happens, as I said, for almost every single page of my site. I have no other crawling or indexation issues, all URLs are correctly indexed. All new pages are correctly indexed as well. URIs ending with "support@fantasylogic.com" are not indexed off course. WP and all installed plugins & theme are on the latest available release. For SEO purposes I use Yoast SEO WP plugin. The site in questions is: fantasylogic.com Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Universal results not in pdf or csv reports
Right now, the universal results show up when I look at tankings on the site, but do not show up at all in the weekly pdf reports. They also did not appear in the full rankings history .csv report. They only appear in the weekly csv report, and then, the information is not as detailed as it is on the website (it only shows whether a universal exists, but doesn't indicate at what position it shows up). This limits the usefulness of these reports to my customers. I need to be able to show them rankings histories, including universal results, in their monthly or weekly reports. Including the charts would be nice as well. Since I can individually download the .pdfs for these for each keywords, why can't we just include it in the monthly reports. Also, would like to be able to view rankings history for all three search engines at once for a keyword, or multiple keywords to reduce the number of pages in a report. Can you add this feature?

Bing Not Complete in Ranking Report
Curious as to what the "FRI" image means under Bing on my Keyword Ranking reports? I saw this on Friday and assumed it hadn't crawled yet (as it was to set to crawl on Friday Jan 27, 2012) but here we are Monday AM and I'm still seeing the same thing. Glf4F.jpg
